Absolutely genius. A perfect portray of today's society: numb, controlled by power. Exquisite garments. An almost cathartic experience delivered by the Raphael of today's fashion. Bravo, Alessandro!
Sheltered/caged models circles mindlessly around a symbol of mighty power. Overwhelmingly detailed and loud designs manage to look homogeneous and mind-numbing. This is a brilliant political statement to the world we currently are living in. Bravo!
No thanks to all the effeminate guys. They are viscerally repellant. The show is disturbing on many levels and the evil prayer voice is the worst part.
Given the fact that much of the media and consumer generations are insatiably hungry for constant changing designs and new ideas every single season, Alessandro's designs are very good reminder that the speed at which fashion is being demanded after is very crippling to designers and suppliers. Alessandro making subtle changes to each of his collections is what a designer SHOULD be doing and not bowing down to what the media is barking for. The introduction of punk aesthetics and methodologies, and youth ideologies into his designs are keeping them fresh; logo sweatshirts, head bands, pvc trousers, face tattoos, boys (not men) in heels etc and injecting them into luxury branding is incredibly savvy on Michele's part. The prints change every time, the tailoring changes every time, with each coming collection the decadence transforms into something else, as well as the significant references to streetwear. And even the choice to keep his collection inside this huge glass walkway behind a towering pyramid, helps remind us as consumers that what he is creating is not vintage appropriations but a timeless fashion ideology. It is considered and with vision. I recommend anybody who wants light shed on this show, to watch the panel discussion on Show Studio's channel in which people give great insight into Alessandro as a designer for Gucci as well as his approach.
Laurie Hill Finally! Someone who gets it. I'm so tired of people belittling fashion in it's most artistic form, yet they bow to any brand that throws in the towel and follows the trends that social media is enforcing. High fashion has slowly been warped into an engine that pumps out the same 5 trends over and over again to appease the social media and millenial market. Fashion has lost its charm and theatricality. The same people that demand "new" and "fresh" ideas, are the same people who fall in love with every designer pumping out reinterpretations of Vetements or every designer pumping out their reinterpretations of Valentino. it's terrifying to know that the same people who are demanding something completely new every season, are the same people that are destroying the industry as we know it. Change is coming. If people don't start reworking their idea of high fashion, we're going to end up with over priced fast fashion streetwear brands.
Funny how people berate are being so critical of Alessandro, meanwhile, I just watched 5 shows in a row where the Hadids or Jenner opened or closed with the same dead look in their eyes. Like really?? At least this show has a sense or drama and originality. It draws inspiration from past decades, and mixes it with current references. At least he has a distinct point of view and the clothing definitely won't put you to sleep. And for god's sake it's a FASHION SHOW. Of course no one would actually wear all of these ensembles on an every day basis, but each piece is interesting enough that I could see myself pairing a crazy colorful embroidered jacket with something simple so that the artistry and details of the piece could stand out. Some of you take fashion too literal and not for what it is: an art. Would you go to an art show to see bland run of the mill piece you could find in a dentists office? NO. Like it or not, you cannot deny that Alessandro is creating exciting and interesting collections.
Mmkay, tell that to John Galliano, Oscar de la Renta, Jean Paul Gaultier, every haute couture designer and the people that pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for one of a kind pieces, and all of the national museums that have exhibits featuring iconic fashion pieces of the past. You're just lying to yourself if you think that fashion is not art.
I could care less of what anyone thinks. I Loved This Collection! I Love This New Direction Gucci Is Going In! Its Wild, Weird, Different And Most of All FUN!!! Watching This Collection Gave Me Chills, So Many Styling Directions, So Many Options! Each Piece was Unique in its own right. I got the same feeling I use to get when I would watch the late Mcqueen's Fashion Shows, His Clothes Were So out of this world. It's Fashion! I see people mentioning the fact that it seems repetitive. Well, a tad bit yea, but i mean Alessandro was just recently appointed creative director, what do you expect. He change the entire direction so its only right he creates a new signature for the Gucci brand! Bravooooo! :)
@Emman, I would like to give you another example of someone who does good styling, Ralph Lauren. Look at his ads over the past 20 years. With good styling, and smart locations, the collections all look different. When I walk into his NY flagship store, lets get real....I have seen the same silk slip dress, and camel coat ,and suits, and plaid shirts, and sweaters, and , and , and over and over. With a few good accessories, he can transform the look.
I am just making a point about what styling can do. I am fully aware of the differences in their fashion standing. There are enough themes here to keep most designers busy for 10 years. And, I am sure that there are more styles in the showroom that did not make it to runway. Give a different stylist the job of mixing things together, and you would have a different show.
NADS IQ that is so offensive this is pure art wearing overated clothing that everyone else wears everyday is for lamepons this person choose to be them self and look where it brang them (Gucci) is super rich and is more successful than you'll ever be you try making you're own clothing brand that looks like everyone else's clothing and tell me how successful you become -_-
Dude, Under Frida, Gucci was stale and non-relevant. The company lost it's winning streak of Tom Ford days. Gucci has never been healthier since Marco and Alessandro came on board. Not your thing? fine! But what Alessandro has done for the company almost overnight is huge! And it show's in the companies sell through that new feel and look of Gucci is working.
Firstly I wish the camera person would allow us to see the collection clearly. Secondly, this is an amazing collection. A visual seductive in the senses. I've been to selfridges to look at this up close and its just so beautiful. Makes you happy.
This is a fashion show I would have loved to have attended. Its breath-taking. The presentation of the models in the glass runway set the tone that the viewer was watching a piece of moving art. I really loved the mix of textures and fabrics. The mix of leather, vinyl, silk, et.al. gave the collection a sense of whimsy, while the cut and fit of the designs showed a deft hand was at the helm. I assume Alessandro Michele is to thank for this collection, and I think its amazing. I will always miss the Tom Ford days, and his elegant restraint, I'm equally in love with this direction, which is more fun and creative, in my opinion.
absolute genius! To take a form with such deep roots in politics economics and culture, draw from it without copying it, and transform it into something wearable, gorgeous, witty, and completely original is simply extraordinary.
I personally really enjoyed this collection. Is it repetitive? In a sense yes but, also no. He's making very subtle changes to existing styles that have already been introduced and also adding some new ones. I feel as though Alessandro is trying to ingrain an image in the consumer mind of what the new Gucci is synonymous for. Switching up a style every season doesn't give a brand an identity it just makes it trendy and trendy has no real staying power in the fashion industry.
The issue with Marc Jacobs apparently is that the clothes are labour intensive and usually beautifully made, but so identifiable as coming from a specific season due to their silhouette, so they are expensive when they come out, but value drops like a bomb in resale. Go to ebay and you can see there are Marc Jacobs items going for 200 dollars where they used to be in the thousands. This is not the case with Chanel, and now Gucci, (and Vetements, even if it is not my style personally), a series of seasons in a continuum of one aesthetic, in which individual pieces can serve the buyer for many seasons thereafter. I appreciate that marketing model, where you accumulate items you love, and you will pay for them because you are adding to a collection rather than losing interest as the new things come out.
Wow the colors! It would be cool if they made a movie and everyone in the movie is dressed like this. Everything is different unlike the other fashion shows where they put me to sleep with the same colors and clothes all over again. This was a breath of fresh air. Sure some of it ain't wearable, but you get an idea of what the designer was going for. And that to me is what fashion is all about! Being imaginative, creative and bold!
When I first started looking at Aleesandro's collections, I was like , WTF!? Then after dissecting his styling of the outfits and looking at each blouse, shoes, sweater, as individual pieces, I realized how everything is so beautifully crafted and can be fantastic adaptations to every wardrobe.
People are complaining it's same it's his style his style his signature look. Nobody complaining about mr Karl largerfield with what he is doing t Chanel same old tweed
What can I say about this brilliant designer, so visionary? It is only the fact that the show that was set up in Milan today has a great artistic depth, has managed to intervene in it different styles, different times: the world of the geisha, the decade of 50, 60, 70 80, the 90s and its Irreverent style, etc, etc ... plus the pyramid in the middle of the runway, and music so illustrative of different cultures and inspirations that can be concentrated in an individual. Magnificent, at one time I thought that all humanity was there at that moment ... I can not help but relate it to the Da Vinci code and the mystery of the Human essence. Today I read in a Fashion Network article, which said that the runways were about to become extinct, because I regret to say no, that that will never happen. Besosssss !!!! And Genius Alessandro, that your art never die !!!!! Sorry for my English!!!! :)
Fashion in Steroids. Over The Top good. The details are mind blowing. You can see a lot of good work poured in this collection. It's undeniably the best. Bravo. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Let me say this: A fashion show has never been about what people wear in everyday life. In this shows, the clothes were styled that way. I heard GUCCI RTW right now is doing really good. People DO buy the clothes, unlike during Frida's era. The clothes on their own are really good and beautiful
when Alessandro showed his first collection for gucci everyone loved it, it was fresh and beautiful but I agree with you it's starting to get repetitive
I love love this so much. You really inspired me Gucci! Color, light, life, culture mixture, organic and structure. So good. Will emulate for the next several years in my own personal way. 😘💕💋
Maximalism --> minimalism --> deconstruction --> post fashion I think that we are at the post fashion phase.. Its truly about the individual experience with a world view and a the overflow of decadence from the past driving the fashion world now. Its a culmination of Gucci present and past with global influences reinterpreted. The funny thing is that there such a over abundance of information and creative forces is like some sort of over load to the eyes and all of it becomes meaningless . Its a very interesting statement and observation of society .
I actually liked allot of what i saw. Especially the jackets and dresses. And im not sure if it was silk they used, but loved the shiny/colorfull stuff
I'm starting to like Allesandro's creations. He's revoke the brand with his beautiful ideas. He's make his mark in Gucci with very different way like his predecessors, I love it. But Tom Ford for Gucci always in memory.
Its a shame that so many of these comments are so serious! I just wanted to know if anyone else loved that long floral coat as much as I did?? I mean, the collection was interesting but there was also a couple of things I'd actually wear and now I really want that coat! :)
Sarangua Ganzorig well it looks unwearable when it's styled like that on the runway, but individually, those pieces can be worn. Also, some houses value aesthetic more than it being sold so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but everyone is wearing Gucci nowadays which means the house is doing fine in the direction it's going.
yoo jin: where is everyone wearing them? i dont see google founders, elon musk wearing it. they are only lent to celebs. plus the size of the models =unwearable for fit people unless you want to throw $15,000. so this is vaporware to sell bags +perfume. no $ made in selling clothes. that's been the case for haute couture[it's loss division].
obviously they don't sell the pieces exactly like they are shown on the runway, it's part of the show. actually in the past seasons i've seen more gucci in the streets than any other brand and that is mainly because every celebrity is wearing gucci, every model on every magazine is wearing gucci, every singer is wearing gucci, etc.. gucci definitely knows how to sell clothes.
I get high fashion is supposed to be more about the concepts and themes present rather than actual wearability, but I can't help but find this hilarious.
Gucci put this as the music credits: FW17 Variations I - Robert Lewis FW17 Variations II - Robert Lewis FW17 Variations III - Robert Lewis FW17 Organ Variations - Alex Metcalfe FW17 Modular Variations I - Emre Ramaznoglu FW17 Modular Variations II - Emre Ramaznoglu I checked up on the artists and you can't really make out these songs from the credits. The soundtrack must be tailored just for the show.
thank you, Four-eyed Faye - i was real-time streaming at the day, and, i may not have seen the, reference. it;s only, not meant rude, that the music, made, my-heart-miss-a-beat. sweet @TheDel365 had helped me. just an innocent question > the runway track, made, my-heart-miss-a-beat, for someone sooooo utterly, & for-evermore, lost, & soooo missed. (Yep, now, i know/should watch the film :) ). truly, thank you, to you both: @TheDel365 & @Four-eyed-Faye
why,? i am soooo missing (& her birthday, will be coming up, so mega soon) > my, so beloved, respected &, utterly, missed... Mother > www.sushi-rider.com/trischi/ward/ursula-uschi-ward-nee-uschi-baingo.html
apart from the creepy voice praying in latin, i can tell this is another brilliant show. Each model and outfit are worlds, characters, who could eventually take part of a story or a movie.
"I'm trying to follow my rules, not fashion rules". "This is always my world. I want to swim in my ocean". - Michele 😍😍😍😍
Gucci's androgynous style is leading the fashion industry. This is literarily an art.
how is it androgynous
all I see are flowing renaissance skirts, floral prints, heavy embroidery and capes.
it seems more pagan European than androgynous
Absolutely genius. A perfect portray of today's society: numb, controlled by power. Exquisite garments. An almost cathartic experience delivered by the Raphael of today's fashion. Bravo, Alessandro!
Love it
kfc twigs and a waste of fabric, they'll just get thrown out next season
I read your name as fka twigs for a second and I was like woaaah
Bysnpiurst
Sheltered/caged models circles mindlessly around a symbol of mighty power. Overwhelmingly detailed and loud designs manage to look homogeneous and mind-numbing. This is a brilliant political statement to the world we currently are living in. Bravo!

Johnson Chan isn't that similar to the pyramid in France??
I hope you know you are a talented writer. Utterly brilliant and observant
first thing i said...so de he like it or not

Laurie Hill Yes! Totally agree with you!!
Laurie Hill exactly!
Laurie Hill
Yes..so true.😊
There's something so otherworldly and fantastical about his work, without being pretentious. Like a cross between "Alice in Wonderland" and "1984".

Elise Brockett fashion is not art.
Elise Brockett Gucci does not need those talentless ig models. He can sell his brand without them
Mmkay, tell that to John Galliano, Oscar de la Renta, Jean Paul Gaultier, every haute couture designer and the people that pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for one of a kind pieces, and all of the national museums that have exhibits featuring iconic fashion pieces of the past. I agree with you completely. The styling is repetitive, but the clothes change. Like you said, so many great pieces, once you break it all down.

“I literally destroyed everything and created something new. ” - Alessandro Michele
3curb 👍
New? Come on
3curb indeed! 7:22 he stole his grandma's curtain and coach, then he ripped it and sewing it into a skirt 😂😂😂
This is the funniest joke I've seen all year, good one buddy +1

every single look is art. breathtaking!
Everyone who thinks any of this "ugly and tacky" is probably a Vetements fan 😂
Chris Zaghi its beautiful clothes but that is just too much fashion. and that runway sucked
I would've said : " an Eli Saab fan"
am I only one person who like Vetements and Gucci at the same time?
DESPONDENCY haha me
loved every second of it
Why can't people just realize this is just magnificent ?
Strable Fable they're dull maybe that's why
Love it. A little repetitive... just a little, but with subtle details that bring the difference. A powerful collection.
This must be what thrift shops in heaven are like. Amazing clothes.
That Prayer in the background was giving me chills!! Nicely done Alessandro.
Firstly I wish the camera person would allow us to see the collection clearly. Secondly, this is an amazing collection. A visual seductive in the senses. I've been to selfridges to look at this up close and its just so beautiful. Makes you happy.
Alessandro Michele made Gucci relevant again. Spectacular!

I am humbled by the artistry in this triumph of human creativity...
I absolutely loved this collection!!
absolute genius! To take a form with such deep roots in politics economics and culture, draw from it without copying it, and transform it into something wearable, gorgeous, witty, and completely original is simply extraordinary.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE... Bastardize my 70's childhood please!!! I love everything about this... it feels at once at home and bizzare ... YEY!!!
I personally really enjoyed this collection. Is it repetitive? In a sense yes but, also no. Switching up your style each season makes you Marc Jacobs. I see the changes and yes, he has real staying power and will be around for a long time.

4:38 the Gucci way of crazy Gardening man 😂
5:53 Gucci grandma omg 😂😍
it's starting to get a bit repetitive
Mark Reeves yeah they are starting to find a comfort zone
there is virtually no difference between this and their last collection
when Alessandro showed his first collection for gucci everyone loved it, it was fresh and beautiful but I agree with you it's starting to get repetitive
Easy to sit behind a computer and judge....much much much more difficult to trudge to road. Try the latter before the former.
You're right...fashion is EASY. Go make millions my dear.
THIS.IS.FASHION. Bravissimo Alessandro Michele!
Everyone looks like they just left the Willy Wonka factory and went straight to the Mad Hatters tea party... just an observation.
-_- A very funny one!
meth2anie yes your so right😂😂😂
Alessandro Michele should be his own label.
Great work Alessandro. Great soundtrack. Amazing light. Gucci is since 2 years really back on the track.
This will change the world
I love love this so much. You really inspired me Gucci! Color, light, life, culture mixture, organic and structure. So good. Will emulate for the next several years in my own personal way. 😘💕💋

Amazing show and collection!! 😻
The first Chanel outfit is everything.
That was beautiful, looked just like characters from a fairy tale. And i loved the baby pink he was using and the headbands 👍
I can't put into words what I felt while watching this.
It's just amazing
I felt like i was waching a D&G show......Loved this anyway.....
Music in the beginning is Lovely!
GUCCI went from 2015 to 2075 in just 2 years. michele is a fucking masterpiece.
absolute madness and i love it!!!!!
This is Art ❤️
Amix of the 20's and the 70's fashion that resembles The Beatles " Yellow submarine " Hippie touch " that results an extravagant dress code choice.
I actually liked allot of what i saw. Especially the jackets and dresses.
And im not sure if it was silk they used, but loved the shiny/colorfull stuff
Set and music are the only good things
Breathtaking 100% wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved the juxtaposition of glam rock+realtenebaums+70spromdressing.
this music is so calming
the best I ever saw
I love the idea of keeping what you love in time and maybe going to grandmas attic and find some treasures
Just amazing. I would die to wear all these clothes.
Okay maybe it seems very over the top but we must agree, this collection it's killing! @3:15 I want that shoes and wear it right now
Great! The price is for the unique aesthetic, this is exactly why we need fashion industry.
gucci is really good, i wish the runway were a little slowly so i can appreciate every look
The tunnel walkway with the pyramid in the middle is a genius architectural idea.
Well, this collection just blow my mind!! Omg, I'm shocked, I love it ♥♥♥♥
These are beautiful ♡♡♡
Love it all.
I'm starting to like Allesandro's creations. He's revoke the brand with his beautiful ideas. He's make his mark in Gucci with very different way like his predecessors, I love it. But Tom Ford for Gucci always in memory.
É a coleção mais linda da temporada, tão rica de detalhes, poderia ficar horas assistindo.
The dresses are beautiful
I love this fucking soundtrack, as glorious as all the Alessandros work
love-I can mix and match with some things I already have .
superb!!
super emotional
this collection of the best for AM
this was art
Its a shame that so many of these comments are so serious! I just wanted to know if anyone else loved that long floral coat as much as I did?? I mean, the collection was interesting but there was also a couple of things I'd actually wear and now I really want that coat! :)
my question is after this runaway what do they do with the clothes?
Sarangua Ganzorig they sell them duh
omfg i know they sell them, but there are clothes that nobody can't pull off. what are they gonna do with them
Sarangua Ganzorig well it looks unwearable when it's styled like that on the runway, but individually, those pieces can be worn.
Alessandro always be my idol
Everyone gets to go to space! And on space we will need layers! Layers! And there will be a blend of culture and style and eras and time...
What's the title of the song?
Gucci put this as the music credits:
FW17 Variations I - Robert Lewis
FW17 Variations II - Robert Lewis
FW17 Variations III - Robert Lewis
FW17 Organ Variations - Alex Metcalfe
FW17 Modular Variations I - Emre Ramaznoglu
FW17 Modular Variations II - Emre Ramaznoglu
I checked up on the artists and you can't really make out these songs from the credits. The soundtrack must be tailored just for the show.
"Mothers" from Noctornal Animals movie
Not meant rude, but why do fashion designers seldom credit the music? what is it please?
It is actually credited on the original video on the gucci chanel
thank you, Four-eyed Faye - i was real-time streaming at the day, and, i may not have seen the, reference. it;s only, not meant rude, that the music, made, my-heart-miss-a-beat. sweet @TheDel365 had helped me. just an innocent question > the runway track, made, my-heart-miss-a-beat, for someone sooooo utterly, & for-evermore, lost, & soooo missed. (Yep, now, i know/should watch the film :) ). truly, thank you, to you both: @TheDel365 & @Four-eyed-Faye
why,? i am soooo missing (& her birthday, will be coming up, so mega soon) > my, so beloved, respected &, utterly, missed... Mother > www.sushi-rider.com/trischi/ward/ursula-uschi-ward-nee-uschi-baingo.html
i love it😍😍😘
Alessandro Michele is so good
apart from the creepy voice praying in latin, i can tell this is another brilliant show. Each model and outfit are worlds, characters, who could eventually take part of a story or a movie.
Nossa que energia pesada! Desfile cheio de símbolos e muita bizarrice.
So nice! Lovely
wow its like every look has a character of its own
Every pieces are messy but i don't know why i love it so much :(
