President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administers the oath-taking ceremony of the newly promoted star rank officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the Ceremonial Hall in Malacañan Palace on March 18, 2024.
"I know that your promotions are well earned. They are testaments not only of the length of your service but the quality of your performance. The insignias you wear do not only reflect rank. They are badges of your commitment to honor your oath," says President Marcos Jr. in congratulating the 55 promoted officers, highlighting their new ranks as symbols of their commitment and the responsibilities they carry.
He also emphasizes the importance of heightened dedication and pursuit of excellence in their final career phase, encouraging them to view retirement as an opportunity for further contribution to the nation.
The Commander-in-Chief then turns to the achievements of his Administration in combating crime. He cites significant reductions in crime rates since 2017, highlighting a three-fold decrease in index crimes and a 98 percent crime clearance efficiency rate.
However, the President stresses that there is still much work to be done, underscoring that even one crime is too many. He calls for a street-level approach to combating crime, emphasizing the importance of community policing and unity of the Filipino people in achieving a safer society.
Turning his attention to the growing threat of cybercrime, the President stresses the need for innovation and technology to protect Filipinos from digital threats. He reiterates the dangers posed by cybercriminals, who prey on individuals' vulnerabilities and jeopardize national security.
"Your well-being and professional growth are paramount, and we will continue to invest in your development and success. Together, let us create a safer and brighter future for all Filipinos," President Marcos Jr. concludes in his speech.
A total of 55 PNP officials comprised of three (3) Lieutenant Generals, 10 Major Generals, and 42 Brigadier Generals take their oath before the Commander-in-Chief.
