    I have Dyslexia, I left school with no GCSE grades above D. Went to college to study IT, did three years there whilst also doing GCSE English/Maths. After a few failed attempts i past both, i also got a good grade in my IT course which allowed me to go to uni. Left uni with a 2.1 in Computing. Now fast forward 10 years and im self employed working as a freelance software engineer. I've never read a book in my life, i have a terrible short term memory and have bad handwriting. But im very driven.

    My son wasn’t diagnosed until I had him diagnosed at 15 despite him being evaluated at age 3 and in school full time since 3. The public school system covered it up then blocked him from going to a school for kids with dyslexia and abandoned him in 9th grade!! I live in MA so I guess you can get away with that here. One year they took away his IEP for eight months out of the school year in two separate public schools. He was denied entrance into the vocational high school because he required small classes and they couldn’t accommodate him. When he didn’t have his IEP in place, he was punished four out of and made to eat lunch by himself for doing things like leaning back in his chair because the teachers had no idea he had any diagnosis. I could go on and on. He’s 20 now and not prepared for life and is on social security disability. He was always very well behaved in school. His neuropsychologist told me that it’s very clear in the evaluation. He had at age 3 that he had dyslexia and that they covered it up. That was literally what she told me.

    I’m dyslexic, but they didn’t test for it in my day. I struggled in school and hated school! I became a nurse later in life and learned how to study. I still struggled, but read and reread over and over. I also used flash cards. I learned and overcame on my own. I’m worse with numbers and always mix up phone numbers and I was really bad at math!

      You have a brain defect that makes you see letters and numbers transposed. There is a disconnect between your eyes and your brain. We all have some brain defects. How the brain develops is a mystery. Our brains are very complex, and everyone has little defects. No one is "perfect".

    I have both dyslexia and dyscalculia. I was never very good at school, especially mathematics. But I always loved music. Music seemed to speak to me. I started learning violin and piano at age 9 and classical singing at age 11. Although to begin with, I struggled with reading. I am now a violin, piano and singing teacher. Never give up on your dreams 😊

    I feel so sorry for you English speaking ppl. You have all those silent letters and words are written differently than spoken. In Finnish we luckily speak words like we write them. And it simplifies things little when one in dyslectic.

    The smartest kid in my high school, so the highest GPA and with the highest SAT score which was almost perfect, he had dyslexia. I was shocked when I found out that he was also in our school's resource room which is special education typically for kids that had difficulty learning and reading. After that conversation I thought to myself what was wrong with me?

    The original language of man was written in the direction that people with dyslexia read. Therefore, when reading the “pure language.’ they actually have an advantage. This also means that they are closer to perfection.(ie like Adam and Eve and people of old living hundreds of years) which also explains their ability to be very successful in a world of people who are not as close to perfect….

      @@WinterWitch01some comments will get deleted simply for talking about healthy things that are all natural instead of by big Pharma .
      Sometimes you get deleted if you say something that you tube feels could be offensive to the sponsors .
      Did you know that even sometimes the person who has the channel can Shadow ban you without you knowing it ? Bad enough that RUclips does it where you think everybody can see your comment and actually nobody can and that's why nobody gives you a thumbs up or replies

    The evidence is there when it comes to left handed people living in a right handed world that the left handed person has to learn to be stronger with their right hand. Is that not a mechanic of the brain. You work with your hands and they build calluses to protect you in future labor. You can learn to read at a normal level as a dyslexic person if you really want to or use audio as I do at a fast speed when it comes to books.

    • @Kemacat
      @Kemacat 9 месяцев назад +2

      My mechanical reasoning and spacial awareness where 100 out of 100 in half the time it took others in my class to do it. My spelling was very bad. If you allowed a test of dyslexia early in life and hyper focused the people with that brain to do it I think we would have a thing going. We have spell check, It really does not matter the language you use now. I didn't spell check a word, because I am dyslexic or more so because I am.

      My two issues with dyslexia was writing things backwards and spelling. The first thing I learned to spell was my name. Every time I would write it down my dad would tell me it was wrong. He never did tell me why it was wrong. I was writing it backwards. I'm not a great speller but getting the dictionary and pulling five words at a time really help me. I would make sure I mastered five words and then I move onto the next five. That taught me how to apply route words in my everyday vocabulary. I love reading, I read EVERYTHING. I also love learning. I don't know why they call it a disability (not to be conceited but), I'm smarter than the average bear. I'm left handed as well but I am ambidextrous. I learned to throw and bat with my right. Well anything that has to do with sports I'm right handed. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can definitely tell that compared to other people my brain has more cylinders shooting off. I am really good at problem-solving. I'm good at a lot. I think dyslexia just help me figure out ways to be stronger when I was told that was weaker. 💪🏼 💯

    Dyslexia and Dyscalculia are not gifts. Would you ask if another disability, is a gift? Ask Howie Mandel if his OCD is actually a gift? How about Autism? What a ridiculous premise for a documentary

    • @gavrasmussen1305
      @gavrasmussen1305 8 месяцев назад

      I can honestly say it is a gift. The good far out ways from the bad. I could say people who don't have it are disabled because of the way they think. I may not be able to spell or read very well but I can problem solve and think out side the box far more advanced then people who don't have it. It is a trade-off. It was hard at school but in life it is easy. I work in construction as a project manager. I know how to build anything I tell the engineers the quickest way to do it and all the pros and cons. I can read architectural drawings way better than the engineers can I left school at 14 and I have 2 engineers and 60 men under my control. I am hopeless with emails but I have engineers for that. I wouldn't change the way I think. The only problem was school was really hard. But your not in school for very long. People who don't have it think we are not smart. But if I wasn't smart, I wouldn't be in charge of a 100 million dollar project. Steven Spielberg has it. Do you think he is disabled. The problem is is that you don't understand it because maybe your not that smart.🤔
