You can also check which players are real by pressing View Mario Party Card in the menu at 0:00 and scrolling through the cards, since bots don't have them.
@RHVGamer yes among other tells like -Skipping through their cutscenes -Instantly hitting the dice at the start -Making instant decisions on the board and movements in minigames -Not seeing their item shop menus -Duels between them skipping -The bar that says “Player is thinking” never showing up -No reactions ☹️ And others I probably forgot
12:12 Kinda crazy that this is actually a situation where you'd want to say "No" 9 times and refuse the Star and Nintendo just didn't even let NPCs recognize that.
Cellular shopper always buys from Koopa. I really wish it were random though between Kamek and Koopa, because getting a gold pipe/triple guaranteed depending on the map is OP.
The thing is... that tech only works against people who don't know the other techs. You can ground pound really late, forcing the opponent to play the game cause there's not enough time to react to a late ground pound.
I believe that the 12 round format of online mario party means luck plays a more significant role; with games that have more turns good and bad outcomes average out more, making skill the most important.
I think that's broadly true. Although, if a game of Mario party were to have a very large number of turns (100+) at some point the most viable strategy would be to roll chance time spaces for star swaps since you're getting diminishing returns from buying or stealing a single star. This is assuming that you are playing a board / ruleset that has custom dice, but I think in this hypothetical the value of skill would potentially look parabolic if graphed over the number of turns passes in a game.
Mario Party 8 had this "Street" style to its minigames in the fact that for some reason the Wii's graphics lent themselves to more "realistic" textures and aesthetics. Like it wasn't cartoony or in the mario world, they were straight up real locations a regular person can find.
Useful double dice probabilities for anyone interested. The chance of rolling an 11 is exactly 10%. The chance for rolling any number less than 11 is X-1% e.g., rolling a 6 is a 5% chance. The chance of rolling any number above 11 is 21-X% e.g., rolling 14 is a 7% chance. Super easy maths to do in your head, and just add the numbers together if you need to work out the chance of rolling at least, or under a certain number.
No new update guys for the one piece! Just finished thriller bark and I love how they FINALLY did a spooky Arc! It just makes since for a show about pirates!
21:53 man im commenting a lot today, but anyway, the way you win as the 1 in that roller game is by stockpiling a bunch of rollers and dropping them all at once
Theoretically the best outcome for a Star Steal trap buy is that someone uses a Creepy Dice on you. Since you can only place traps 2 ahead or 2 behind, this means that if you place a Star steal directly in front of you and then roll 1-3, you can place a Star steal on the very next space in front of the other one. Turning a 1/10 chance to get value out of a Star steal into a 1/5.
The vault is a real 'Put all your fines in Free Parking' monopoly moment. A huge windfall that might just win you the game if you hit it at the right time.
The inner game of tennis is on my Christmas wishlist since my coach recommended it and I really wasn’t expecting alpharad platinum to be the place I hear it brought up.
24:34 i liked the single player mode in this game because it makes for a nice little warm up/intro to the maps. Like its minigame island, you get to practice all the games, PLUS you get to take a little tour of the maps and get to know them and some of the gimmicks they do.
I relly do think there's skill expression in getting a lot of stars while also keeping your movement low Things like shop boxes pipes and warps get even more valuable in these games than double dices and mushrooms which is rare, and also you give up your chances to get some stars by trying to bank the slowpoke bonus
55:52 if only you had the opportunity to take a different path that didn’t land you on a star steal, and maybe let you do a stealing of stars yourself.
So... What you're saying you want is a Mario Party forge, custom games, and just general power-up and board customization. But mostly just like... Halo forge... In Mario Party.
just watched three 1 hour long vidoes of this map because of the main channel + librarian, not complaining tho this is definitely the best map in the game for content
The Slappy hand duel is actually good if you know what you're doing. My games are always fun. Like, even if the other person only reacts, you can 100% mix in short hops and trick them. I love that duel. Probably the only good one in the game.
I will keep on mentioning this and i hope somebody from the patreon tells him before i spend my money to, but you can jump over the barriers on platform peril, you can even stand on them
I think slow bonus star would be better if creepy dice was better. If that was a good item then you have to decide whether to use or enable your opponent to get slow star
Jacob would be a top tier Pinball player, but Everytime he gets multi ball he keeps losing them instantly thanks to overconfident, so sadly he's remains a low tier with an Icarus complex
Me and my Melee friend played the Slap duel game, and watching that, you could know what each of our playstyles were like(I waited for him to ground pound)
I wouldn't say Mario Party 4 has a great story mode lol That one basically just has you playing the boards normally without even any cutscenes to break it up. The duel minigames at the end of each board were cool I guess.
I kinda understand why there's no minigame star in pro rules, since you directly gain elo by winning minigames already, so they would have too much influence over the game compared to the map play. Slowpoke star is pretty stupid though, I wish there were more involved bonus stars in there, like the shop or red space stars.
Can you ground pound really late into your jump in slappy go round so the other person cant get the height to jump over unless they have cracked reaction speed or does that not work?
I kind of wish Jacob would lab out some of these games. Feels like he solely based his knowledge off what Dylan told him. Cause that slap mini game isn’t solved actually. You can late ground pound to force the opponent to play. It kind of peeves me whenever Jacob says slap sucks :/ There’s also some pretty cool timing tech I’ve seen in clips
You can also check which players are real by pressing View Mario Party Card in the menu at 0:00 and scrolling through the cards, since bots don't have them.

Yeah I wish they could play it multiple times in a row

The absolute horror Yamii must have felt staring down PartyPro15 in that duel, realizing they immediately lost
Bowser Jr. jumps once then decrees that your fate has been sealed.
He just chose to throw it all away instead of even trying to play for a win.

I believe that the 12 round format of online mario party means luck plays a more significant role; with games that have more turns good and bad outcomes average out more, making skill the most important.
The phenomenon known as regression to the mean does support this belief!
I think that's broadly true. I would absolutely read “The Inner Game of Mario Party” by Jacob Alpharad
