because I have no freinds and don't know where else to say but really want to im gonna give yall some bug facts bc um uh
    1. rhino beetles are the strongest beetle in the world (but they cant hurt humans)
    2. some beeltes dont mind being held
    3. bees make 2 tons of honey each year
    4.cicadas all come out of the ground at once to s c r e a m
5.Some leaf bugs have rows of tubercles on their antennae that when rubbed together make sounds to ward off predators
i have more but i forgot them
    edit: I got more!
    6. cicadas live for up to 14 years underground, and only a week above.
    7. (you probabaly know this) female preying mantis eat the male immediatly after mating
    non-bug facts
    1. some fungi grow inrtwined with tree's roots and alert the tree of possible threats
    2. that "fresh grass smell" is actually the grass warning the other patches of grass that theyre's danger
    3. peanut allergies are sometimes caused by eating peanut butter when youre under the age of three
    4. jupiter has 69 moons. hehe 69
    ive got more bug facts!
    1. there's this indian bee (i really need to start remembering the names) that cooks a wasp alive if it enters it's hive. It does this by piling on the wasp and vibrating.
    2. ants dont have lungs and they calculate their steps
    3. sometimes bees will fall asleep in flowers in pairs. in this case, they hold each other's hands and feet while sleeping. it kinda looks like theyre cuddling
    4. bees dance to communicate
    5. the vulture bee makes honey from dead animal's meat
ill get more later i promise

I feel the same way, though about ADHD. As soon as I started to learn about it the more symptoms I realized I had, but I constantly feel like I'm just faking it. Knowing that it's a common thing for people with ADHD to go through was validating, but I still question myself a lot. And the idea of masking confuses me sometimes? Like I don't know when I'm masking or not. Before lockdown, I remember doing this thing whenever I was talking to different people I'd always change the way I acted to mimic them to fit in more, does that count as masking? And sometimes during class, I just wouldn't be able to shut myself up and I felt so embarrassed. Is that an example of like not being able to mask?
Sorry for rambling, just wanted to share my thoughts ig lol?

Like how I touch my face in one form or another, it just happens randomly and I never think about it, or how I can't fall asleep unless something is covering the lower part of my face, how I just say "mwrah" as a reaction/response (?) and a lot of other things.

When COVID started, I really unmasked, like, I started stimming, saying what I wanted, and letting myself shut down when I needed to. I didn’t have people constantly looking at me, so I started acting like myself. I’m currently wondering if I’m autistic, or if I just have ADHD.
I don’t want to make this long, but sometimes I get shut down, and I really don’t feel like talking. It’s usually after a big test, or a long day, or after being overstimulated. I can’t tell when people are joking, all the time. Anyways, I might get a psychological evaluation soon, so I hope things might finally get settled
Also, if anyone has any advice, that'd be nice. For info, I got diagnosed with ADHD about eight years ago, when I was eight, I was never taught about it's connection to autism, or that it makes me neurodivergent. I identified as female when I was diagnosed. (I use he/they pronouns now)

    • @OnyxLotus
      @OnyxLotus 3 года назад +59

Honestly, maybe. Autism and ADHD are often comorbid and/or misdiegnosed as eachother. A disappointing about of doctors will knowingly misdiagnose someone with ADHD when they know they have autism because the doctor thinks the ADHD diagnosis will "help" them more

17:00 I thought I was the only person who was utterly confused growing up when people would be mad when I corrected them. Like I'm helping! If I was getting something super wrong I want someone to tell me. My teachers hated it but I'm like, you're teaching a bunch of impressionable students and I want everyone to be able to understand what's correct. As I got older I realized it was probably because adults feel insecure when a child corrects them and is right. Now I have to restrain myself even though I still struggle to understand why I can't just tell someone what the correct answer/word/terminology or whatever is.

You should also push your parents to let you get tested, because it's harder to get insurance companies to cover shit when you aren't diagnosed before a certain age.

Like, my ears just start rigging to the point I can barely hear or my body/mind kinda panics, so I have to just “get out get out”, and finally, the kindness route, politely asking them to turn it down or be quiet. But there’s a lot of different settings, and when they turned on the strobing effect? I had to LEAVE. I was crying as I skated around telling myself it wasn’t that bad and I was forcing it on myself by obsessing over the lights. I got super over stimulated and eventually had to work up the courage to ask my friends if we could go. I hated it so much, especially because I haven’t had problems with lights before.

@@alex-iu6rj try this: introduce the fingerling to your dog first by letting it sniff it (keep it close to you because it isn’t their toy) you can do this as many times as needed before it is accustomed to the toy being in the house- next, anything noise related, I highly recommend doing that somewhat close to the dog while it’s at its most relaxed state; if they start barking, ignore the dog completely or leave the room if necessary (that way you aren’t rewarding the hyper-reactive behaviour) conversely, you should reward them whenever they are quiet (sometimes there will only be moments but you can increase duration by waiting a second longer) with whatever motivates them 👍🏻

Anyways, I almost couldn't finish the report I was supposed to do because I was too invested in the data.

I don’t know why but through out all of my sixth grade year I would focus on the things I wanted to do and procrastinate on the things teachers forced me to do. It got me bad grades but the things I did turn in were really good and they started to ask me questions about how they could get the environment and work more comfortable for me. I didn’t know how to put it into words so I lied to them. I still do that now, I focus on the things that make me happy, and my parents still want me to do an office job that I wouldn’t enjoy, but I want to do a job that I enjoy going to and actually want to do. My parents think I should do the hard things before the good, but why not just do the good? It’s always curious to me how people can just do the things they don’t like before the bad. I mean yeah, it gets it over with, but why not learn about it and try to like it and enjoy it? I only really loved math because a teacher who was understanding and nice about it and accepted mistakes helped me. And it’s kinda the same when I had speech therapy in my school. They would help me learn how to speak with positive reenforcement and not make me feel stupid every time I slurred or got anxious and although it’s still hard to speak sometimes, it’s easier. I also was in advanced math because my teacher taught math so well I wanted to learn more and so that’s what I did! But I do things I like, not what other people want me to do. But I had to change myself so I could ‘fit in,’ and so it’s kinda hard to change now because I’ve gotten so used to trying and fit in. So life

Some people prefer not to, as (in the US) it's legal for companies to dock wages of those who are autistic, have ADHD, etc. But others will seek a diagnosis for closure, and for other benefits like legally being able to get accommodations for their needs. There's ups and downs to a diagnosis, so it is totally valid if you don't want to. Despite what I always hear about self-diagnosis and how it's "wrong", I think it is 100% fine, as long as you truly understand what you are self-diagnosing yourself with and believe that it describes how you feel.

The dolls have names and like- hhhh i was talkin about it and my brother (who's very supportive of me!!!) leaned over and patted me on the head (i only accept touching if it's pats) and he went "this bad boy can fit so much love for the dolls" and i just squeaked and laughed. i don't... do that normally???????? like even stuff i like i usually don't get that excited

Dude ok I just had a big brain moment about my family. Feel free to ignore.
This happened about two years ago. So I hadn’t seen my favorite cousins in like 3-5 years and was worried things would be weird between us. But I spent a weekend vacation with them and it was amazing. I felt completely myself and was so high energy the whole time. We all had an absolute blast.
Fast forward to now, over the course of quarantine, I realized I have ADHD. I also discovered last year that one of my cousins has ADHD, and her brother is autistic.
So looking back, the reasons the 3 of us clicked so well even tho we hardly saw eachother is because we all felt this weird signal that we could unmask (before I even knew I was doing it) and just be ourselves.
I’m literally so happy that I live right around the corner from them now.

1:04 THANK YOU! I have many sensory issues and my own family just can't seem to accept it, they always try to tell me I'm just being dramatic and stuff like that, but I literally started crying in the middle of a 5th grade test because the sound of pencils scratching on paper made me want to die! But they still don't get it! I mean the other day my dad purposefully had me touch corduroy clothes, in an attempt to trick my brain into realizing I was just being overly dramatic, it did not work!

I feel like I don't have many sensory issues. All I know is that my mom's voice gives me painful migraines, overlapping voices gives me a less intense headache unless I'm focused specifically on the voices (like in a video with multiple people all talking at once, I'm okay because I'm focused on the video, but if someone comes into my room and talks I have to pause the video or else the headaches will start). And another one that's only happened like twice is my own brain getting louder? Like it's not even bad thoughts but my brain is just absolutely screaming. It happened once while I was washing my face and thinking of lyrics to some song, and one part of it just kept repeating in my head and getting louder and louder that my ears were ringing and I just had to sit on the floor and cover my ears for a few minutes until it was quiet again.

PLEASE rant to me in this comment's replies ab your hyperfixations and special interests, it's SO refreshing, 100% recommend!
I'll go first (I'm nd btw)
I'm hyperfixated on the Dream SMP and have been since like, july/august 2020, it's like a LONG ASS thing that I've dedicated so much time into memorising each little snippet of lore and understanding everything + symbolism and influnces (and theories) to such a point that I don't even KNOW how long I could go on about it, but I could probably talk about it for hours. My favorite arcs so far have been the Exile Arc with Dream and Tommy and all the manipulation tactics involved in that, which got me into a private study on the cycle of abuse and a lot of abuse psychological effects, plus stockholm sydrome and some other psych stuff (which was actually useful for my psych classes in school lmao), and the whole war between Manburg and Pogtopia because I love all the psychology in there (i'm a psych nerd if you can't tell) and just the general constant tension and not knowing what was coming next, not knowing who you can trust, unreliable narrators, losing everything only to realise there was so much you had to lose, finally having nothing and being at that dangerous point where nothing matters, and the whole idea of Chekhov's gun (a dramatic principle that states that elements in a story should not appear to make "false promises", and everything that happens must be necissary, having a cause and effect) which I really like. Thanks for reading! Your turn :)

aah, a few days late, but reading about yours made me happy :)
a big one I've had for about 5 years is vocaloid. like god I'm such a nerd about vocaloid. it's just, it's so different from the mainstream stuff that's super popular, there's a bunch of different genres, and yea!
there's this youtuber i love called ubnubmaster(i think i spelled their name right lol) and they do analysis stuff on popular vocaloid producers! watching their video on hachi actually got me interested in neurodivergentcy, and how it actually works, since I've always held hachi in such high regard! and i found out that I'm prolly neurodivergent as well :)
i remember i have this friend, who only listened to 1 vocaloid song, which was candle queen, and god i recommended him so many english vocaloid producers and songs to check out in dms lol. i never get to share my love for vocaloid with anyone, so it's really special to me that i got to with him!
i also am very obsessed with a video game called kimigashine, one of the characters is my profile pic lol. it goes into heavy stuff, since it's a psychological horror, but it's so good! there's a list of triggers on the website where you can play the unofficial english translation if you would like :)
i don't wanna go into too much detail about the video game, cuz spoilers, but god i cried 13 times while playing the game! i usually never cry during video games!
I'm also super into conlangs, which are constructed languages, aka secret languages. god, they're just so cool. i have my own that i can write whole conversations in! i practice my conlang by translating songs i like into it, haha. if you're interested in language at all, I'd recommend checking out conlanging stuff :)
i huge special interest i had when i was younger, recently getting back into it now, was mental illnesses! i was so obsessed with it, i remember i would text my friends about it all the time lol.

One of the best common plants for murder is foxglove, it causes eventual heart failure if ingested, more often then not an autopsy is not performed because it just looks like heart failure and there's no reason to suspect foul play could've caused it.
