Gentlemen... you had me inspired and exhausted at the same time... but always watching with a smile on my face. I said to myself as your new garden footage was rolling "I would probably injure myself doing that" and then Patrick shared is "combat wounds"... again with such a smile and purpose... impressive, and real. Stuart... you made me want to bake something and the lesson about French flour was informative... neat. I know there is never enough time in the day... but Gents, you are making the rest of us look like slackers! I gladly cheer you on... and your jobs well done. Keep up the good work... and as always, thanks for sharing.
I had a very nice evening at the Casino with my boyfriend. Sunday going dancing again. Please keep laughing it gives positives vibes for mind and body. I'am a positive person and laugh every day...I'am only crumpy when I'am really ill. A collegue of mine had carpaal tunnelsyndroom and he told me it could be really painful. Even after an operation he still had some pain now and then. Stuart the music when you were digging sounded like a soundtrack of one of the films of Batman written by Hans Zimmer. Seeing Stuart preparing the cakes made my stomach rumble😅😅 Tomorrow a will be watching the Coronation. Have fun with your friends tomorrow. Hugs 🥰😘⚘️
Dear Patrick and Stuart, I love your laughter and the fun you both have despite having so much to do. A long time ago I attempted to use a tiller just like yours, it didn’t go too well. I nearly broke my neck and sprained every muscle in my body! They are great machines but I think you need muscles and strength to operate one. Patrick, I’m not sure if that was the best machine for your carpel tunnel!! Stuart, those cakes look beautiful already and I’m sure Patrick, your quiches will be delicious!! Have a wonderful time tomorrow. It begins around 5-5:30AM here on the East coast of the US. I’m going to try to catch some of it and then off to my 9 year old and 4 year old grandsons baseball games!!! I’ll find the coverage rerun of it on RUclips Tomorrow night. Anyway, always remain happy and many hugs!!! 💕😘
Hi Stephanie! Yes, the tiller is a very powerful machine and they can be dangerous. We will take some video at the party so everyone can see how things turned out. Thanks! 🥰
With all the physical work you do, carpal tunnel is almost a given. Repetitive motion is horrid , but when you like to create things , we suffer , so you deal with injuries , same way I always did..laugh and persevere ! My favorite expression at night was...I think my ass is broken. My husband and family thought that was hilarious. I think people who are ridiculously busy everyday are too worn out at night to ever experience Insomnia ! Have fun !
Stuart, you produced the magic book to stop any criticisms that’s for sure! I love Mary Berry and the hard drive on my recorder is filled up mostly with her cooking shows. Your sponges look so professional and cooked to perfection. You and Patrick made such a good job at getting all those vegetables in the ground too. I have used the cardboard trick years ago and it was such a success I would recommend it to anyone. Patrick, I hope you helped your quiche making marathon by using ready made pastry, or are you a purist and have to make it yourself? Loved the video! 👏🥰
It may sound crazy, but the no-dig method seems to be the best for the soil and life in it. Building upon the compacted soil with new plant life will rejuvenate it. My garden is now 8 years old and fabulous without me digging one spade. Much smaller garden, a townhouse instead of a chateau but abundant flora and fauna. Have a lovely time this weekend.
Hi there. Thank you for the feedback. My back definitely would prefer the no dig method. No question. We will do more in the fall and then next spring. Love your success with the no dig method. Congratulations. Off to the party in a bit. ❤😊❤
Hi Patrick & Stuart, Patrick I know how painful Carpel tunnel is, last November I was in excruciating pain,my whole hand & fingers were swollen & could do anything without being in the worse pain I’ve ever experienced 😭 I had a Ultra Sound to comfort my Drs diagnosis! I was told I need an operation, while waiting for a appointment,I had two steroid injections, one in the trapped nerve, one in the bone on the top of my hand 😮it was horrendous😫 I also was having physio My dr said I still have to have an operation! I can tell you Patrick,it’s now May i haven’t had an operation, because the injection are still working & the numbness in my thumb has gone! Patrick you have so much to do in the chateau & garden, it’s worth having the steroid injection, to not be in pain ! Once again have a fabulous party Celebrating 🤴 Charles Coronation! 🎉 PS.Can you please show us the finished cake 🎂 Stuart ! 🥰🥂🍾🎉💕
Can’t wait to see the finished baking products. To ease your workload in the garden, cover some sections with black tarp and bricks to start killing off the grass. That way you have planting areas ready for next year. Happy partying tomorrow.
I just saw the cakes….. so pretty. Great tip with the black tarp. I have some of that and will absolutely love it. Huge hugs and we will keep you posted. ❤
Patrick I bought myself a beautiful knife years back & promptly made a deep gash in my finger. I still don’t have normal feelings in that spot. I gave that knife away! 🎉 Hope you had fun at Jane & Tony’s 🎉
Well, you can either laugh or cry, and you guys do the former. You are a joy to watch, and I learn so much along the way. Regards to Tony and Jane for hosting a coronation party🎉
Hi Barbara. Thank you so much and you are absolutely correct. We usually go for laughter. 😂😊. We are looking for ways to the party today and meeting new French and English people in the area. Much love from Colombe ❤
Oh Stuart, you are so droll; I love your sense of humour. 😅😅😅😅 Once again, your musical selection behind Patrick and his Toto-tiller is beyond funny 😆 !
You're doing a great job with the potager, I can't wait to see the results! Patrick, investigate magnetic therapy for your carpel tunnel syndrome, I had it years ago and fixed it with magnet therapy and gentle exercises. It worked, I've never had a reoccurrence of it! The Victoria sponge looks great Stuart, looking forward to seeing them all finished and decorated. Those quiches will be so yummy Patrick!! Have a wonderful time at the party!
I have heard people say gardening is so relaxing, Ha gardening is a lot of hard work but the pay out is so worth it. Great job guys and I love the sound of the wind chimes.
Hi Jerry. You are 100% right. It is hard work. I think they mean a small patch with sweet peas….? That’s relaxing. 😂😂😂. And even better is the payout. Love your comment. ❤❤❤
Honestly I would put a plow on the back of the tractor to initially turn the soil, then follow up with the rototiller. It’s probably been 50 years since that garden soil has been touched. Always enjoy both of you.
Hi Ray. We mentioned that we currently do not have our tractor and we have no idea when it will be repaired, so that is not an option. Patrick did say in the vlog that we may need to ask a neighbor with real farm equipment to plow it for us. Thanks!
I can’t wait to see the fabulous meals that you cook using your fresh vegetables. I was going to ask when you sleep, but you answered my question! I truly enjoy watching your “Journey” to and within your chateau.😁.
Thank you very much Sarah. 😊. I hope that we will be able to grow the vegetable garden. And I have ideas for cooking too 😂😊. Love your comment. Glad you enjoy our crazy lives. ❤😊❤ hugs from Colombe
Wow Stuart, you did a fantastic job whipping up Mary's cake recipe....looking forward to seeing them decorated! Patrick, I've never made the proper Coronation Quiche, but I ad lib with a another recipe and that's our Coronation Quiche (I have a few fussy beings that don't like spinach etc., etc.,)...made with 2 different cheeses and spring onions....looking forward to seeing your finished product! You two are the busiest guys and I absolutely love hearing you banter and whistle while you work!!!
Ohhh I know those picky eaters. Love your variations. I made 2 official ones and the other 6 are with bacon, peas, and other lovelinesses. And I made a true quiche Lorraine just for the French purists. Truly glad you enjoy our crazy vlogs. Love from Colombe . ❤❤❤
Gee all garden action, so glad you did what you could, its will be lovely getting dome food and flowers growing. You both really got stuck in and smashed it as you do! Grate baking there Stuart, Mary would approve! It looked so sunny and lovely. Well the coronation has happened!! It was interesting to me history wise and stayed up until after 2:30am watching it all lol.. I am English after all. 😘😘
Gardens are always a work in progress. Enjoy the process! I see a new attachment for your tractor coming soon😅. I feel your pain Patrick! I have CT in both hands and have learned to pace myself so l can get more done. It just takes a bit longer😁. Enjoy your party 🇨🇦🇬🇧🤴🏻
You guys have so much fun, even when you’re working hard (which seems to be most of the time!). Enjoy the party! It will be 5:00 a.m. here in Florida so I’ll have to watch reruns!
Thank you so much. We do work hard quite a bit I think. 😊😮 I remember the wedding of William and Catherine. We had a party staring at 5 am. 😂. It was fun and I was 12 years younger. 😊. Love from us at Colombe. ❤❤❤
You two keep so busy! Between working the garden, renovating, sewing, cooking, entertaining and brocanting your life is full. What happy chappies you both are and thank you for including us. Enjoy the Coronation party. I’ll be watching on television. I remember holding a slumber party for Harry & Meghan’s wedding. We 7 women dressed up in pjs with hats, gloves and jewellery and had a high tea while watching. It was loads of fun. 🥰🥰🥳🎂🥮🥂🍾☕️🍕🥪🍲
Good morning Stuart & Patrick, so much fun starting a potager. It is essential nowadays to have something growing for the kitchen table. Why have you not used the flat attachment to the tractor. You just open a good shallow pathway to get rid of the grass, then you could have tilled. The cardboard is fine, good that you started planting the veggies straight away. As all that settles, the stuff can grow. Hopefully the area is fenced off, can't remember, as those nosey terriers will come and see what is happening. The Iris is so beautiful. That is a specimen I would grow in a hot house so as not to loose the rhizome, but is quite protected and I am sure it will multiply at it's own pace. It always is a challenge for your baking to be successful especially when it is going to be on show. There is nothing more delicious than a good quiche!! I am sure the coronation party will be absolute lovely, all the great treats and toasting and good company. It seems you are going to be quite busy, but that is fine, it is good for us to have many challenges in life, it makes us feel great at the end of the day knowing we have managed and done well. Many blessings for each day, be happy and grateful, what more do we need. Do take care, be alert it was a lovely video, had plenty of chuckles along the way. Kind regards, Elize.
Hi Elize. We had mentioned that we currently don't have our tractor and we have no idea when it will be repaired and returned. We did need to start the potager now, so we could not wait for the return of the tractor to help us. The dogs are not in the area of the veggie garden, so no worries. Thank you as always for your comment! 🥰
Patrick, next time you go to a bocante or cheap shop see if you can find some sort of shopping trolley to use to move your gardening plants and equip around. Otherwise you are going to need a chiropractor for your back. You can use the nifty machine to mix chicken manure and blood and bone into the soils to enrich it as it has been grass for a long time …ideas for thought to make life a little easier ( I love your machine - i want one too!) vicki
Those wrist braces really do help with the pain of carpal tunnel. I suffered for quite a while before I agreed to have surgery. (I was scared.) Thankfully, it cured my carpal tunnel, but it took a year to completely recover during which time I couldn't really lift anything of much weight. Good luck with yours!
Well what a great volg rotavatiion machine mind of they own hard work Patrick dig and no dig popular in UK allotments merry Berry recipe did make me smile enjoy the coronation guys it's well on the way here all over the media love it be glued to TV tomorrow and Stewart digressing lol
Hey Patrick & Stewart🫶. I’m all in for the no dig process. You actually don’t need to dig the grass up. Just mow it and lay the cardboard over, making sure to leave no gaps. I was told by a friend in the UK whom is a horticulturalist! That not to use soil on top of the cardboard but use compost. Hope you are both well. And yes! Chateau work waits for no one😆💕
Thank you. Compost has been impossible to get here. And we’d need a lot! So we have to use soil or buy about 500 little bags that would cost about 5000€. That’s a big nope from us.
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 hi Patrick. I didn’t realize it was hard to get! Strange how everyday items are hard to come by in France. I suppose with time you can start making your own. Looking great either way🙌
Hi Patrick and Stuart my goodness that looks hard work to dig that all out but I have learned a lot didn’t realise that you could use cardboard I did at first think what on earth are you doing with it never seen that before done like that then it dawned on me what you were doing and why I think you have a busy weekend coming up by the sounds of it lots of cooking by the end result will be worth it you will be able to sit back and admire your work and of course taste it Patrick you need to take care of your wrist as well hope all goes well enjoy the party have a great weekend
It was quite a bit of work. I’m still sore 😂😂😂. The no dig method is interesting. We will report! The weekend is going to be busy and eventful. How Devine. I promise to keep my wrist out of harms way. ❤. Please have a great weekend. Hugs from Colombe 😊
I did the ‘no dig’ method in southern Virginia because the soil is clay….so far my wildflower seeds are sprouting! I’m so happy. Good luck with your ‘no dig’ garden. 🎉
First you must put the mower as close to the ground to get rid of the the grass. You also will need to till over and over. Your no dig needs a lot more soil. I love Janes no dig because it’s off the ground waist high which makes it easier for disabled people to garden. Her garden is always planted perfectly for them to eat from but not overwhelming amounts that you have to canned.
You may have missed that we don't have our mower right now. Patrick mentioned how the mower deck is broken. We did also mention that we are putting more new soil in the potager, and the video was just from the initial creation of the garden. Jane has had her raised beds for years, and we just started from years of neglect. We also will have a B&B, and dinner parties in the chateau, so we will need much more than just for the two of us. Thanks.
@@JourneytotheChateau I can’t wait to see everything y’all have worked for come to fruition. I know you have worked hard this past year to get your home up and operating at it’s best. I really do only wish beautiful things for you and Stuart.
You may like to plant potatoes in a section. They will toil the soil in the growing without you noticing. They keep the soil fertile. You can cut the potatoes eyes when you peel them with a knife. bury them with the roots down and you will have potatoes in no time. They will grow, bloom purple flowers, and after they die away you can pick them. Keep the tiny- little potatoes int he ground and they will grow for you. You will never need to buy potatoes.
Stuart! You could do your own cooking show. Concise, clear directions and you thought ahead to comments on the recipe. Lol Showing the book was smart! Patrick I can’t wait to see your quiches. Yum.
Thank you very much. If felt a bit like insanity. 😂😂. I’ll be delivering the food now before getting cleaned up. 😮🤣. It’ll be a great day. Hugs from Colombe.
Love your channel. I have done a lot of cardboard gardening here in New Jersey USA. You have made a great start with yours. I suggest you add more dirt and slow release fertilizers as they need a lot of fertilization to get hold. Water a lot at first as the cardboard steals the moisture at first. Tomatoes love to get dirt high up on the stem so pile it on. Good luck
Youre always busy busy busy, I'm sure everything will taste wonderful and be a great success. Hope Jane and Tony haven't watch this tonight or they will know about her supprise visitor. Wish I was there with you all tomorrow. But it a full english breakfast while watching all the pre pomp. Xxx Enjoy your day tomorrow. Xxx
I delivered their guests before the vlog. They were both so emotional and happy. What a treat to be part of the surprise. ❤. You’d have a blast with all of us but a full breakfast will be fantastic. Enjoy the food and spectacle. ❤😊❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Aww how wonderful I cant wait to see that vlog, i think I can guess who it is but I'll wait and see. And visiting another Chateau on Sunday, now I wonder who that could be !!!. Hope youve finished the baking and cooking by now. Sleep tight. Xxx
I love how you always manage to laugh while you're working. What are you, the tag team for injuries, taking turns on the Disabled List? Take care Patrick and Stuart. While Stuart was making his Victoria Sponge Cakes, I noticed a Carrefour container on the counter which brought back memories... I worked for Carrefour during the five years that the company operated in Philadelphia. However, Carrefour failed in their attempt to enter into the USA marketplace. But, I digress. I hope you have a smashing good time at the coronation party! Much success in completing the gîte in time for your guests.
It's good that you can laugh .Stewart with his sore ankle and Patrick with his painful wrist . And you get things done 👍.all is well that ends well. Cheers to you both.
So I assume the T45 flour is what we call cake flour. I'm dying to get my hands on some of the White Lilly brand flour southern US cooks rave about. It's no longer a terribly high priority since I don't eat carbs these days. I love making scones, but can't resist eating them. 😛🚫🚫🚫😄 I'm sorry you gentlemen didn't have time to prepare your garden last fall. The Dowling No-dig method is impressive. I once put in a huge flower garden from an area of lawn turf by laying out big sheets of cardboard to smother the grass in fall, by spring the soil was perfect. It's windy here, so I needed lots of rocks to keep my cardboard in place through the winter. Your Iris are anemic. For 2x bigger flowers scratch this recipe into the soil around the corms after bloom season is over. Flower Fertilizer Recipe 4 lbs cottonseed meal 3 lbs superphosphate 1 lb blood meal 1lb balanced fertilizer (such as 15-15-15 for shrubs). Don't worry if you can't obtain all the ingredients. The blood meal and bone meal alone will improve the size, color, height and texture of your Iris. My mom was an Iris fanatic. A little of her knowledge rubbed off on me.
Patrick and Stuart, you both are doing amazing. Stuart, those cakes already look delicious. I think it is great you are doing both dig and no dig. I think you may like the no dig best, but you both will be able to determine which method works the best for the outcome. I am thinking less weeds with no dig. I am not promoting a channel but Sarah Backmo in sweeden has has great success with no dig. I don't garden anymore myself but do have a fair amount of experience. Either way, I think you will do well and be success. It is worth the try and at least you both had a good laugh. Those tillers are not easy to use, I know. I wonder if it made your carpel tunnel act up? Also, all of that sewing likely added to the carpel tunnel. I have carpel tunnel also. It is not as bad as it used to be though. Maybe it is because I have so many more health issues. Patrick when you were talking about your knives and showed your brace, I cringed. You almost scared the bejesus outta me thinking you cut yourself. I hope this problem eases soon for you. You both got alot on your agenda at the moment. I know those quiches will be delicious. I hope you film some, as Jane said she won't be doing much filming. I also really hope all goes well for you all and I know you all will be very busy and enjoy yourselves. Have a great time at the party and happy brocanting. ❤
Hi Peter! Yes, I will be filming occasionally while I am there so our viewers can get a feel for how things turned out at the coronation party. Thanks! 🥰
We’re resurrecting a neglected couple of slightly raised beds from the previous owner. I am using “Hugelkultur”. (Should be an umlaut over the first U.) I tried it in large pots and plastic totes on patio chairs last year and it worked great! Just started layering the beds with wire mesh on the bottom, followed by the cardboard and then the rest. Your 2 beds are wonderful and what a great start & experiment! You are so right to pace yourselves. My goodness! I don’t know how you get done, what you get done, daily! Kind regards from Wyoming. (Pardon the lengthy comment.)
I hope the above ground planting is successful since the soil is so solid. The quiche and cake sound delicious. You guys are very busy right now, so grab a nap whenever possible. Looking forward to hearing about the coronation party. Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Just watched make do grow vlog from Portugal this morning and they were tending their no dig beds, adding edging to contain the compost as they dad found it was getting harder to tend. Definitely worth watching.
Can’t believe how hard you guys worked again. You made me laugh with the machine at the start of your clip it looked like it was hard work and the machine was half eating you. Have a great weekend x❤️👍
You guys are so much fun! I look forward to updates on your potagé progress. 🙂 (guessing on the spelling and accent. 🙊) Stewart, congratulations on getting the cakes half done! I’ve never had that cake, but it sounds delicious. ♥️ Ah, quiche Lorraine! How well I remember the first time I had it! When I was in high school (in the 70’s), quiche had just become trendy in the US. Mom was giving a big dinner party, and wanted to serve everyone quiche. And she wanted to make sure that she didn’t run out, in case it went over big (this was right at the start of the trend, so most and possibly all of the guests had never had it). As usual, we kids were her kitchen assistants and servers. We didn’t attend these parties (which was actually fine with us 😉). Mom had pre-grated the cheese, pre-measured the cream, pre-fried the bacon, etc. and apportioned everything in containers, so all we kids had to do was blind bake, assemble and bake. Heh, my older sister had just started dating a fellow that week, and Mom roped him in to help, so she could have four servers. They’re still married. 😁 But I digress. 🤣 So, Mom had everything set and stacked in the fridge, and had arranged a signal for when to start baking them, and when to stop. Well, the party was going well, and Mom was having such a good time, she never gave the signal to stop! Like the magician’s apprentice, there we were in the kitchen, baking one after another, and placing them on the hot plate in the dining room when space was empty, and circling the tables asking whether anyone wanted another slice. It took a while for Mom to notice what was going on, and by then, we had baked all of them - 24! The partygoers ate quite a few, but there were many left over too. Her plan had been to use the leftover ingredients in a variety of dishes in the coming weeks - the best laid plans… 😉 Hehehe, Mom froze what she could cram in the freezer, but we had to eat it nightly for day after day so what couldn’t be frozen wouldn’t go to waste. And once a week for weeks afterwards, she’d thaw out and heat up another one. 🤣 It was perhaps a year before I could face one again. 🙂
Stuart, I make Victoria sponges, adding a tablespoon or so of marmalade improves the texture taste & keeping qualities! Even a spot of orange juice to mix in! Regards John in Monmouth Wales! PS my mums best friend Corrina Date taught Mary Berry to cook in Bath!
Thank you, John! I will try that if I make one for us in the future. These were requested as completely traditionally British, so I needed to follow the exact Mary Berry recipe this time.
Never tell a busy person to do nothing when injured! It only makes it worse. I remember Stuart's injured ankle and I think he did well considering what needed to be done. Enjoy the party tomorrow, I'm planning on catching what I can on the way to Chicago tomorrow. I really love the train.
😂. You are absolutely right. It does make it worse. We will pull through and carry on. 😊. Enjoy the train ride. Remembering Chicago airports. Ugh. Nice choice and time to enjoy. Hugs and enjoy the festivities ❤
Watching you guys is such a delight! I laugh out loud at some of your comments while working on your projects at the chateau. I'll be thinking of you while you're at Jane and Tony's coronation party. I have to get up at 5 AM tomorrow morning to watch it. Your cardboard planting surface should help with weed control too. Not too many weeds will grow up through that thick layer of corrugated paper.
If you want to feel better about all those eggs, then take this on board, the human body can NOT absorb the cholesterol in the egg. So eat as many eggs as you like. They used to think that just because eggs were full of cholesterol that meant they were bad for us, but luckily the science has since proven that fact wrong, yay!! I love eggs!! My husband has now put in an order for a rotavator after seeing yours, thanks :) good luck with the potager. There is nothing like fresh vegies straight from the garden. We can not get our daughter to eat her peas any other way!! A right princess it seems.
Well you two are a pair: ankle and hand! Can't keep good man down when there's so much to do. Jane inspired me and I'm having a Coronation party for one! 🤩 Enjoy your weekend.
Oh it was lovely and I was quite moved several times. I even ran up stairs and told my husband (still in bed) that I got so caught up that I found myself pledging allegiance to the King! Impost a pic but can't seem to.
You have done so much at the chateau in a very short time. Your garden is going to be beautiful. Looking forward to your "all over the place" adventures next week. Happy Coronation.Stuart those cakes are beautiful. I am going to make one with lemon curd filling.....I will see you at the appointed time next week.
Patrick you could ask Terry and Ash (Escape to the Chateau) if you could borrow your namesake Lord Patrick because he's brilliant and eager to dig holes
New garden beds will be great! The flowers will provide so much beautiful color! Busy bakers at your chateau but so excited to watch the coronation......starting at 2 am here in the US! How fun to be attending a coronation party! I'll make scones and fresh lavender tea....woo hoo!
Hi Jill. Enjoy the pageantry. We had a breakfast for the wedding of William and Catherine 12 years ago. That was fun. Started at 4 am in Chicago. 😊😂. We will expand the beds gradually, was much as we can over time and see what we can grow ourselves. Scones and tea! I love it. Hugs from Colombe ❤
You guys are such troopers doing all this work with a wonky ankle and carpaltunnelsyndrome respectively, as a woman of 54 who could be in alot better shape I really appreciate all the labour you put in, in every area, and without the help from a young crew of enthusiasts, it's really impressive what you get done and your many skills! Gardening is one of the vastest areas to (literally) dig into, and your approach to just go ahead and get cracking to not waste time or plants makes sense. Gardening once you start will always be a never ending journey of experiments, analysis and improvements, but plants can't wait around, they need to be tucked in beds and you simply take it from there. You guys have really made a journey from modern Californian dudes to old world European Chatelaines with a fresh approach I must say. All in steady stride! Marvelous! Happy coronation party! 🎉👑 🕊️💕
Thank you so much darling. Love your comment. Combined, Stuart and I make one complete worker. 😂😂😂. We’d love to have some younger or older enthusiast here to help establish things. We truly have transitioned to the French country life. Huge hugs. ❤❤❤
Oh boy you both have been busy gardening, planting and baking gosh a man's work is never done 😂, have a great time at your party tomorrow and Sunday too, it's been great fun watching you both take care 💕🌼🤗 x
Patrick- Stuart I know that you are members but Fav big box store Costco just outside of Paris you can get brocolii & spinich there east & south! Yes I am too! Daphne & Ian Central France from San Diego, Ca! Crack On!
I was trying to calculate how many eggs you'd go through - then Patrick said he was using 24! Wow, 48 eggs these days is a major investment! Hope you all enjoy the party! Looking forward to seeing your garden flourish this summer!
Hi Lora. I did buy 48 eggs from the bio farm close to us. Since over 70 people are invited, we figured we go all out. But it looked like I was shopping for the zombie apocalypse 😂😂😂. Thank you so much. Hugs from Colombe❤
Thanks guys for yet another enjoyable show. I hope your vegetable gardens flourish and provide a bumper crop of produce. The sponge cakes look fabulous! Sorry I was not able to stay up long enough to watch the show live and engage in chat. I was passing out here down under due to the massive time differences. I managed to just get through Terry and Ash's show. Hope you have a great coronation party with Tony and Jane and that the quiches turn out wonderfully. Wish I could be there. Best, David
Hello darling Patrick and Stuart, you both are a great team and your work ethic is commendable . Patrick I could not stop laughing at you with the tiller, omg I was thinking that you would have been better off with an auld horse and a plough. Lol Stuart the sponges look great, you can’t go wrong with Mary Berry. Patrick I also use Emmental cheese and I grate a bit of smoked applewood cheddar in with it and it’s just delicious . Please try and have a wee bit of rest and relaxation as you are both going to burn yourself out. I wish I could come over and give you guys a hand or maybe more of a hinderance as I would be digressing too much if I were talking to Patrick. Lol x🇨🇮
Oh Sheila. I am smiling from ear to ear reading your comment. 😊. Thank you so much. The tiller wanted to kill me….. I swear 😂😂😂. We need one round of ploughing at least 😮. We will try to have a little rest this weekend between celebrations and Brocantes. Love your comment. What a treat. ❤❤❤

First guests! How exciting, I hope it went well.
The two of you are just wonderful. Always upbeat and happy. Love watching your episodes.❤️
Seeing Stuart preparing the cakes made my stomach rumble😅😅
Tomorrow a will be watching the Coronation. Have fun with your friends tomorrow. Hugs 🥰😘⚘️
Thank you so much, Gonnie! 💕😘😘
I think people who are ridiculously busy everyday are too worn out at night to ever experience
Insomnia !
We are going to try it too!
PS.Can you please show us the finished cake 🎂 Stuart !
The black tarp will sour the soil. Not only will it kill weeds but it will also annihilate all the beneficial microbes in the soil
❤❤❤❤
I certainly am NOT arguing with Mary Berry! Happy cooking and good luck with the potager!
Patrick I bought myself a beautiful knife years back & promptly made a deep gash in my finger. I still don’t have normal feelings in that spot. I gave that knife away!
🎉 Hope you had fun at Jane & Tony’s 🎉
A garden has to start somewhere and you have done it.
Once again, your musical selection behind Patrick and his Toto-tiller is beyond funny 😆 !
Have fun and eat what you want, it’s a party!
Indeed and right you are. Love your comment. ❤❤❤
Stuart your cakes turned out perfect. Have a lovely Coronation party 🤴👑❤
They look delicious don’t they? We will film a bit tomorrow. Hugs. ❤
Thanks!
@@JourneytotheChateau I saw that, after I wrote this comment 😉
Fun video, will be at the party loving it, watching all have fun🥳🌹⭐️😂🆒❤️🇺🇸
I so enjoy your blogs, always enthusiastic and cheerful 😂. Enjoy the party 🥳.
Thank you Jan. I’m glad you enjoy our quirky humor. 😊😂. We will have fun for sure.
Hi there!
I’ve been missing because I had a heart attack. Just checking in briefly. Take care. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my God. Praying for a fast and full recovery. Love from Colombe
Oh my! We hope you are okay! Please take care! 💕💕
Feel Better! 💐
Oh no, that’s awful news Kerry. I hope your recovery is fast and complete. 🙏🏻❤️💐
Fabulous Gentlemen exciting video, jam packs lots taking place. Loved it .❤
You two awe amazing ! Hope you have a wonderful , plentiful crop!
Can’t wait to see the delicious recipes you make with your veggies.
Hi Angela. I am excited too. I have ideas….. oh do I ever and then with the new cooker….. if it will ever arrive 😂😂😂. Loved from Colombe ❤
A friend made Coronation Quiche with frozen broad beans. It was remarkably delicious and certainly worth trying. Thank you for the video!
I used frozen and it tasted great. Plus I made 7 additional quiches. Tasty too. It was fun. Hugs. 😊
Happy Coronation! Y'all are fantastic! Cooking, gardening, remodeling whatever!
Thank you very much. So kind of you. ❤
Looking great either way🙌
Plenty of land for gardening. 😂👋👋👋👋❤️❤️
We sure do. And all of it used to be used for vegetables. I mean the entire 3.5 hectares. That a lot of food and even more weeding. 😂. Hugs
Waiting to see your garden spring to life ❤❤❤. I have a greenish/brownish thumb when it comes to gardening 😮
I did the ‘no dig’ method in southern Virginia because the soil is clay….so far my wildflower seeds are sprouting! I’m so happy. Good luck with your ‘no dig’ garden. 🎉
Thank you so much. I love that we can compare. Hugs from Colombe. ❤❤❤
Love Love the music and editing for the tiller !!! Superb
Always a fun vlog. Enjoy the party and food 😍😘
Good morning from Canada
Good morning from Colombe. 😊❤😊
Not bothered at all by "your crazy" I just really enjoy that we see a slice of realness that you share with us.
Thank you. You are very kind. ❤😊❤. Hugs
Stuart! You could do your own cooking show. Concise, clear directions and you thought ahead to comments on the recipe. Lol Showing the book was smart! Patrick I can’t wait to see your quiches. Yum.
Busy, busy guys! Hope your labours come to an end with a great coronation party! Have a wonderful time!
Thank you very much. If felt a bit like insanity. 😂😂. I’ll be delivering the food now before getting cleaned up. 😮🤣. It’ll be a great day. Hugs from Colombe.
Can't wait to see all the baking
You guys have a wonderful weekend❤
Thank you so much. You do the same. I ❤🎉
Love your channel. Good luck
Thank you so much. Love the tips! Huge hugs ❤❤❤
You can’t argue with Mary Berrry! Well done on the baking. Have a wonderful weekend 🍾
So true. We love her 🥂🍸🥂. Cheers to the Queen of baking. Hav a great weekend too. 😊😊😊
I'm sorry you gentlemen didn't have time to prepare your garden last fall.
Flower Fertilizer Recipe
4 lbs cottonseed meal
3 lbs superphosphate
1 lb blood meal
1lb balanced fertilizer (such as 15-15-15 for shrubs).
Don't worry if you can't obtain all the ingredients. The blood meal and bone meal alone will improve the size, color, height and texture of your Iris. My mom was an Iris fanatic. A little of her knowledge rubbed off on me.
Do you guys ever rest lol. Enjoy your party and have fun with your cousin. Can't wait to see how the garden comes in.
Thank you so much. And no, not yet. But we miss having a few days without work. Eventually we will have to force ourselves to take a break. 😊❤😊
Thank you! 😀
Whether you can use the machines or not, perseverance is the answer. Well done!
You are absolutely spot on! ❤😊❤
I hope the above ground planting is successful since the soil is so solid. The quiche and cake sound delicious. You guys are very busy right now, so grab a nap whenever possible. Looking forward to hearing about the coronation party. Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Good Afternoon from Indiana!
Hi there from us, formerly from Illinois. Hugs❤
Thank you Stuart...that was a clear and concice set of instructidudilums. ( loving the cow bell concerto in the background)
Lovely as always. ❤ Enjoy the party.
Thank you Jayson. Hope all is well in Colorado. Next week is back to full time renovations. Hugs to you both. ❤😊❤
Stuart, Patrick, I can't see this première. Will check the vlog later when i come home😘🥰
Hi Gonnie. Have a fun evening sweetie. ❤❤❤
I can smell all of the baking and cooking coming from the kitchen. Yum- 😋
Stewart, congratulations on getting the cakes half done! I’ve never had that cake, but it sounds delicious. ♥️
Ah, quiche Lorraine!
So, Mom had everything set and stacked in the fridge, and had arranged a signal for when to start baking them, and when to stop.
Her plan had been to use the leftover ingredients in a variety of dishes in the coming weeks - the best laid plans… 😉
Hehehe, Mom froze what she could cram in the freezer, but we had to eat it nightly for day after day so what couldn’t be frozen wouldn’t go to waste. And once a week for weeks afterwards, she’d thaw out and heat up another one. 🤣 It was perhaps a year before I could face one again. 🙂
Great family story! Thank you, Peni! 🥰
Patrick, would have loved watching you make the quiche!!♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
Hi Connie. I will make a few different varieties and film it when we have the new cooker. Thank you so much. How kind of you. ❤❤❤
Well you two are a pair: ankle and hand! Can't keep good man down when there's so much to do. Jane inspired me and I'm having a Coronation party for one! 🤩 Enjoy your weekend.
Hey. How was your party for one. I think that was fantastic. Love it. ❤❤❤
That sounds like one yummy filling! Thank you so much for a great comment. We did quite a bit but it never seems to be enough. 😂. Huge hugs. ❤
Ouch ouch - here’s to a quick recovery. Enjoy the coronation - thanks for sharing from Australia.
Patrick you could ask Terry and Ash (Escape to the Chateau) if you could borrow your namesake Lord Patrick because he's brilliant and eager to dig holes
😂😂😂. Patrick is such a sweet boy and he really knows how to dig. We will ask the , if we can borrow hi. 😜. My guess is no. Love your comment. ❤❤❤
I’m so excited for you all. I’m sure it went well, B W from Australia x
Huge hugs. ❤❤❤
Oh boy you both have been busy gardening, planting and baking gosh a man's work is never done 😂, have a great time at your party tomorrow and Sunday too, it's been great fun watching you both take care 💕🌼🤗 x
fun vlog 💗
When your chimes rang I got up to answer the front door DUH…..
😂😂
Patrick- Stuart I know that you are members but Fav big box store Costco just outside of Paris you can get brocolii & spinich there east & south! Yes I am too! Daphne & Ian Central France from San Diego, Ca!
Crack On!
Also disel or Petrol better price! Right!

Th k you so much. Party was fantastic. ❤😊😊
The coronation is not my vibe.but the food you prepare is .👍
And we will make some more, once we have the new cooker. Hugs from Colombe ❤
Good to see you using the no dig method ❤
Great job tilling. It wit get much easier next year and the ever after. I’m excited for y’all.
Also, remember to bury the tomato plants three forth in the ground. Please trust me. It makes a huge difference. Good luck.
Thank you so much. We will add additional soil and hopefully we will find boards to frame the soil. Hugs ❤❤
Enjoy your celebratory weekend..🎉 sounds delicious
Really loved todays video. You boys make me smile 😃 hope you had a wonderful time at the party x
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Thanks for your lovely comment Patrick, but you make me smile every week too. X
Well, i thought that was the niftyest trick of inverting the cake pan to get on the cooling rack! I will try that next time.
