You can sail upto a window at the pub and get a pint at high tide and Sir Arthur Ransome's boat is moored at Pin Mill
Wow… and wow! Thank you for sharing🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs you're very welcome, thank you for always delivering such great content, have a great Sunday 🙌🏻
........and seriously, this vid had already smashed records for box ticking; waterside, flowers, birds, mello music, nice boots/ gloves, beer, pub, motorcycle, quirky cool car, learning to drive nostalgia, somber historical significance, Brit accents......just off the charts.
Had many a "leaving do" in that pub. I used to train new police recruits at what used to be HMS Ganges at Shotley Gate. This pub was a favourite for the different intakes to celebrate leaving! I must go back sometime.
Another great video Freddie. May I make a suggestion for one of your upcoming videos. We always here the odd word from your camera lady, and occasionally even see here in the shot. Seeing as you are visiting Monica’s homeland. How about trading places with her and you video Monica telling us about her hometown and upbringing. Just an idea. Looking forward to your next videos.
Thank you Mark- I’ve just shown this to Monika as I’ve been trying to persuade her to do exactly this. Let’s see if this kind message does the trick🙂🇱🇹
I agree. It would be lovely to see Monika do the talking. BTW, I had an A40 like the one in this video. My father bought it new in 1959 and I took it over when he died. A great wee car!
Absolutely brilliant idea, would be great to hear from Monika about her homeland and what it was like to growing up.
Good call, Mark. Also, we're still waiting for Monika on a Vespa. Let's do both in Lithuania!
Why are Sunday mornings so special - because they begin sitting out on the screened porch listening to the sounds of nature with a jug of coffee and a new video from Freddie and Monica. There is something about the pace and content of your videos that makes them exceptional and to me they are ‘lifestyle videos’ with a strong motoring content rather than ‘motorcycle videos’ with a touch of lifestyle. To me you provide an combination of eccentric nostalgia and youthful enthusiasm that makes for absolutely irresistible content. Like a few others, I would love to see some vignettes from Monica, particularly as you head to her homeland. Looking forward to the upcoming Jawa & Lada content - hard to believe I actually said that in 2022!
I love the kick you get out of seeing these old cars! My Father had a Vauxhall Velox, it was like a tank, I can still remember the embarrassment of everyone turning to look at it, as kids we used to hide down in the back seat!
This is brilliant!!🤣🤣
What a wonderful video! This reminded me of my time in Devon and Cornwall.
Safe travels Freddie and Monica
The English pub is, quite rightly recognised the World over as something unique.
That looks a good one, and it's not too far from us. Proper beer, too.
If Constable had painted it, I wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to the next series
Happy, safe travels 👍
Completely agree re Constable- it’s a beautiful spot👌🏻🙂
Thank you for another wonderful video! Add my vote for more Monika! You two are such a gorgeous couple. With your appreciation of 20th century style, you remind me of Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw.
I look forward to your Lithuanian trip. I visited the Baltic States in 1989. Had a great time with some wonderful people.
Ah.. such a fresh perspective of a video blog... so tired of just bikes.. at least someone cares to take us around. Lovely Freddie.. subscribing. Biking to our groups is all about exploring the new but small places around when not doing the long distance trips. The food, drinks and the life takes up most of the time.. bikes we love.. and bikes take us there.
Such a beautiful part of the country, I love the small old pubs, full of character and feel more like a pub should. Safe travels to Lithuania, looking forward to seeing your first video from out there.
Wonderful think I!! Yet again. they don't make them in long leg lengths.......oh well...love watching your vids of my local m/biking and sailing areas.... 🙂
Oh my old home Pin Mill!! Wow good memories thank you! Also thank you for visiting my other old home in the first video I watched of yours, La Orotava in Tenerife!! Love your style bother, and sister Monica of course!
Hi Freddie, Great video as usual! Love your enthusiasm and and appreciation for the less obvious, more traditional pleasures (treasures) in life. You' re a great antidote to the common philosophy that new is always better in every way. BTW My old man was a driving instructor who had a few A40s. First car I ever drove. Spent many a happy hour; 7-10yrs old, sitting in the back whilst he was working on a Saturday, making comments like " Dad, shouldn't we be in 3rd gear now?" Imagine that today?!!! Love a lot of the cars you notice, but especially, love the A40. Brilliant!! Brought back memories, put a smile on my face!
What a lovely place. We're here in the Midlands and will definitely check it out soon. Thanks Freddie and Monica.
Freddie, you and Monika manage to make mundane things like having lunch at a pub special. You also make me miss England so much, you bloody bastard! 😀
The red "leather" in the A40 is actually a kind of vinyl, I had the same in my first car, an Austin Cambridge. It was actually just as good as leather, tough, wipeable, and fine in hot or cold weather. Although not as cute-looking as the Austin A30 & 35 the A40 Farina (the name credited its stylist) was a big step forward towards the modern super-mini and hatchback.
Drove a Lada Niva extensively in the late 80s/early 90s. As clever as a Range Rover for a fraction of the cost. Fantastic off-road due to light weight combined with excellent axle articulation and a reduction gearbox if you needed it. Possibly the greatest car to emerge from the East although there are a few other claimants - particularly from Czechoslovakia. The Niva is still made today although very few make it into the UK. Good luck to you & Monika on your travels.
Freddie, just want to say, I discovered you not to long ago as I was looking at vids to learn more about motorcycling as I will be doing my CBT soon and joining the freedom. I already have the Bike. I initially looked at a keeway superlight 125, but ended up going for a zontes g1 125, going a bit off topic there.. I just want to let you know out of all the motovloggers I have watched to learn and enjoy watching, which include Teapotone, Royal Jordanian.. Your channel is by far the best.. I really like your vintage vibes as I'm into the same taste. Monica is such a great girlfriend in helping you making the channel great. I love how enthusiastic you are with you passion in the clothing and bikes and how you express and explain everything. If there is ever a fan meet i'd 💯 want to get to meet you and give you a high five for your great work. I get alot of enjoyment watching your vids. Keep it up and high five for Monica for her great assistance. The vids very well made and great choice of suitable music chosen. 🍻
Old cars, Bikes & Jeans whats not to like. Enjoyable content! Thanks!!
A40 Farina in British Racing Green was my first car from age 15-19 in New Zealand. Top crushing speed 47mph. Would overheat at 50. Tip downhill speed with wind behind 72. Carried my whole band including my drums, sheep manure, you name it. Was wonderful.
Freddie, you have the absolute coolest music on your blog!!
I was up in Ipswich two weeks ago performing with an orchestra and thought, this is where Freddie and Monica are based! Gutted we didn't cross paths as I also went to this pub for the very first time! Wild mushroom tagliatelle was a winner and what a pub, location and view... Another great video, thanks guys!
Well done you two, , a wonderful mix of bikes cars and the reason we have them , travel!
Your enthusiasm for what is on our doorstep is a joy.
Enjoy Lithuania.
This kind of homemade video is exactly what youtube was created for. I binge on them but don't drop a thank you message nearly often enough - so thanks!
Only prob with those bike jeans is they are hot as hell!
Personally I'd just wear two pairs of regular fifteen quid supernarket jeans.
Thanks again!
What a lovely pub in a beautiful part of the world and a good call on the Ghostship, a splendid drop. I look forward to your next uploads from Lithuania, I love your channel and watch on Sunday mornings, a great way to start the day!
Makes me miss so badly English pubs. Respect from South Africa. By the way l really love the format of the videos.
Yes, the format is exceptional
Delighted you enjoy the format Marcus. They’re great aren’t they- always with a unique story, history and character!🙂🍺
Sending my best over to SA🇿🇦
Britain really does have a lot of beautifully located waterside pubs,
And many inland ones too
who needs a 360 camera when you have a Monika! :D
Good morning from Ireland even over here we like our pub lunch especially our local seaside pub , enjoy your trip to Lithuania 😎
Ahhh now an Irish pub- that is a special thing!🙂🇮🇪
I must try and make it over there this year.
Thank you Brian🙂
You'll love the day on the Jawa, I had a 250 back in the 80s.
Great fun for cruising the back roads and commuting in the summer months.
Ah the A40 Farina in the 70s our neighbor who was a nurse owned one and I used to service it for her in return for driving lessons in it, as for the Jawa 350 I bought one for a fiver in 1984 pulled all the tinwear off it and thrashed it down the local lanes until it was cream crackered Lol looking forward to the next installment take care both of you.
A beautiful little place @Freddie Dobbs
Can't wait to see the next one from Lithuania
Thanks Rupert, the bags are packed and we head off in two hours✈️🇱🇹🙂
I have those exact Xlmoto Course Jones jeans both in the blue and in black. Very nice! Freddie, do you remember what size yours are in waist and inseam? Also, do you remove the hip and knee protection?
There is something about your Channel make me feel 👍🏻 🙂...but I wish in such a beautiful area you're in..to take a little tour around specially beside the beach....
Be safe..wish you the best
😁🌴 🇸🇦
Hi Freddy, great video as always, fantastic scenery and great pub, also what a great choice in drinks, one of my favourites!!
I have to comment on your looking forward to riding the Jawa motorcycle!
Being quite a lot older than you a friend of mine had the CZ version he bought new in the late 1970’s
He bought one cause they were a lot cheaper than the equivalent Japanese bike!!
It was the worst motorcycle, I have ever ridden!!
The seat is basically as comfortable as sitting on a plank of wood, covered in vinyl,
It leave a great plume of blue smoke as you power away, as it’s a two stroke!
It’s doesn’t handle and the brakes are inadequate!
It would get a less experienced rider into a lot of trouble very quickly!!
Don’t want to put you off or burst your bubble.
Just thought pre-armed is fore warned!!!
Happy travels to you both.
Such a calming chilled day Thankyou for sharing
My Dad used always have the Honda cub c90 when he was a live funny story he could turn his hand to anything the exhaust snapped off so this was back in late 1970s in Blackheath he did no more and welded a bake bean can on and put pot scour didn’t look right but got him out of trouble when money was tight great videos
The 2nd ever car I owned was a 2nd hand '60's Grey & Black Austin A40 identical to the one in your video, and I drove it all the way to the Costa Brava & back on holiday with 3 large male passenger friends, plus a boot full of clothes & camping equipment. Car never put a foot wrong on the journey except for a puncture on the way back to Lancashire.
I learnt to drive in an A40 Farina, re-carpeted it using an old lounge carpet! The Honda Cub was a '77 looking at the plate (R reg). Lovely place to visit, like you say, 'going back in time' :)
Pin Mill is a lovely spot, great videos as always thanks Freddie and Monica
Even tho I only live a few miles from this pub I've never visited it that's definitely going to change, looks amazing.
Another great Video as always
Nice one Freddie and Monika, what a beautiful place.....
Always a treat to see your videos guys🎉👍🛵
Tbank you Jasper!🙂🙌🏻
Another excellent video, love your enthusiasm for old cars ( They and are the sort of thing that we could afford and used to drive around as youngsters in the late seventies ) as always, interesting and very much looking forward to seeing your trip to Lithuania, enjoy your trip and stay safe.
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s Freddie and Monika
I remember the Lada Riva well mother in law had a couple of those and I remember driving one all the way up to the north east docks from Salisbury to sell as they were shipping them back to Poland or somewhere and giving top prices for them .No power steering but solid cars . I also had a Polski fiat pick up strange one it went really well but handled awful it even had twin carbs on it god knows why 😆Looking forward to your trip guys enjoy 😊👍
Cheers for the heads up on the XLMoto sale, I just kitted my son out fully for a very good price. 👍
So cool to see you rolling around the local area 😎
Aww Freddie. Haven’t spoken for a while but, what a brilliant vlog. I love East Anglia so that will definitely be on ‘ze lyst’
I loved Monika’s enthusiasm for the Lada Nivas.
Take both of you and looking forward to Lithuania
The Cub is on an "R" suffix registration dating it from 01/08/76 - 31/07/77. My Dad had a 1962 A40 Farina in red with a black roof. His, and most others had a drop down boot lid, a bit like a "London" taxi, but a few, known as the Countryman also had a lift up rear screen, making it into a hatchback a good 10-15 years before anyone else.
Just so enjoyable to watch.
I’ve only gone and bought a pair of motorcycle jeans from xlmoto. Thanks matey I’ve been after a pair for ages and at £49 you can’t go wrong. I’ll let you know if they fit.😬
An A40 was quite "upmarket" for a small car - hence the red leather and Italian styling. Used to be one down the road where I grew up. They had a holiday cottage overlooking Conway castle - so pretty classy.
Red vinyl mate .., I had one ( A40 that is )in 1974/75 .. loved mine, never let me down
Surprised that little honda 90 didn’t start itself and ride off in fear after ur treatment of the last one
Great video. I used to ride to the Butt & Oyster on my Bonneville in the early 80’s. There was a tattoo artist on one of the houseboats. I can also highly recommend The Maybush at Waldringfield.
Wow brought back memories for me Freddie,I used to have an Austin A40 donkey years ago I just passed my test & bought one for £20! Lol! The radio was worth more lol! It was all red & the reg was 805 NPL! I sold it after 6months to another youngster who just past her test for £15!(no radio lol)Also the Butt & Oyster pub I went there about 30yrs ago lol it was great then(I was working in Ipswich) me & a few lads jumped in our van & went there! Lol
Great video & looking forward to your Scram review! Safe Riding to you both!
That a40 brought back memories, i had one 40 odd years ago, paid 50pounds for it , had a memorable journey to liverpool in thick fog in it took 6 hours, the things you remember, 😁👍
My neck of the woods. Back in the seventies William Rushton was in an advert at the Butt and Oyster for Tolly Cobbold beers. It was a Tolly Cobbold pub back in the day.
Lovely, thank you!
Good Morning Freddie, excellent vid as usual
the Butt and Oyster..lol...thats outstanding..another fun video!...thank you!...
Thoroughly enjoyed the video..Butt and Oyster a must visit from NW London! How was the food?
Yes agree that Monika should do a little presenting on your trip to Lithuania 👍🏻 Atb, Alan.
My parents first car was an Austin just like the one in the video, but in black. I remember very well being 5-6 years old and riding in the back of that car. I also remember when it broke down forever just 500m from home, arriving from a day out. After that we got a Renault 5.
We had Fathers day dinner at that pub last year
Yes, this looks a very cool place.
Wow that Austin A40 was first registered the day before my dad was born (13th July 1961) and has only done 29,113 miles. What a find. Great video as always, have a great time in Lithuania 🇱🇹
No way! And just 500 miles a year- that’s probably the original paintwork then🤩
Thank you🙂🇱🇹
Hi, a LADA NIVA ah ? yes I had one of those and towed a caravan around with the kids on holiday I loved mine far better than a Land rover more comfort , with coil springs all round , but could have done with a 2 ltr engine . Enjoy your trip and thanks for the video , have fun .😎👍
Great to get your thoughts on it- even a few years back I’m sure the Niva was never a common sight on UK roads, so that must’ve been quite a sight to see one pulling a caravan!🤩
@@FreddieDobbs Yes back in 82 with a glass sun roof , it never fail an mot , never replaced any thing , brakes tyres steering suspension, only rebuilt the engine as 3 cam shafts failed , so in with a British Kent cam rebore pistons and all for under £ 200 at work , wait for it when put up for sale, had 14 people and sold to the highest bidder and made a profit .👍😊
My 1st job from school was a trainee /general dogs body at a Lada dealership. They never broke down!!
Just the character of everything filmed is incredible, I also can't wait for Lithuania. You will be close to Estonia where my would be Daughter studied.
Ahhh….a decent English pub. Probably what I miss most about England….certainly isn’t the traffic! Enjoy the journey to Lithuania. 👍
Ok Freddy, The 'R' registration on the Honda C90 is for August 1st 1976 to July 31st 1977.
I shouldn't add to memories (but hey you two are getting a knack for it...along with being addictive watching)...a very good mate of mine bought a Lada Niva many moons ago...neither of us had a clue what it was for...dreadful on the motorway... but we kinda thought it was cool..took off road (in kiwi speak that's anywhere else)..and, after 30 years...I can still hear us laughing. Tough, rugged, nuggety little thing. And we didn't die. Or get stuck.
2Great video guys and what an amazing spot to visit, another on the "To go list".
You’ll love it- it’s a very very good day out!🙂
What a lovely corner of the world.
XLMoto's housebrand Course jeans, shirts and jackets are genuinely good stuff. But if the sizes are in universal system then I recommend going up in size. As in, if your normal size is XL then get 2XL and so on.
I always look forward to your videos, Freddie. Enjoy Lithuania. From a fellow bonnie owner! Henry
At April first XL Moto had a 89,98€ offer with a Motorcycle Jeans and a Leather Jacket. And it was no April's fool ;-). You could choose between the Course Boomer and Beemer Jacket und a few types of jeans. I got myself the Beemer in brown and the Oslo Jeans in black.
Absolutely beautiful place folks! Looking forward to your travels to Lithuania! I’m guessing Pierogi & Borscht? 🙏 Stay safe & enjoy!
My first job after leaving school was at the main Lada importers Satra Motors at Carnaby near Bridlington. Worked in the Parts Import warehouse, i must have opened 10s of thousands of wooden parts cases full of everything from carbs to full engines and all the body parts, nothing was lightweight on those beasts, also imported the Soviet Moskvitch cars and Cossack motorcycle including the sidecar. this was 1982/3
???
Superb vid as always guy's, looking forward to the next one! (is Freddie the next Nick Kamen??) LOL, safe travels, Cheers
Don't know about Lithuania but in Estonia these old soviet cars have become exceedingly rare. You can ride around for weeks without ever seeing one in traffic. If you want a nice one, expect to fork out 6000-7000€
Great video guys, I just love seeing England. But ya’ll need to drink some better looking beer. That stuff you guys drink looks like old gear oil. You need some Pabst blue ribbon beer. What are the chances that you run into a Honda cub. That’s kinda the universe trying to tell ya something Freddie. And it’s crazy that the Triumph and the cub are probably worth the same. Can’t wait to see you guys in Lithuania. You got to talk Monica into being the tour guide. I’m pretty sure everyone that watches you guys want that. Be safe over there.
Do not expect to see these cars you showed on Lithuania streets!
That's good value. I'd rather wear a looser fit. Lovely area of the country. I am back in Portugal now. After 32 months of standing with a trickle charger connected, my Yamaha MT-01 started first time.
I seem to remember that the Jawa 350 had some kind of automatic de-clutching mechanism that operated as you up or down changed with your foot!
That C90 is the spitting image of mine... that one is in better condition though. Hope you both have a safe trip to Lithuania! Can't wait for the RE content. :D
Brings back memories, my 2nd wife owned an A40 Farina
Seriously can't believe you've never been to the Butt and Oyster, It's so close to Ipswich. I ride up there from South Essex all the time for lunch, also Flatford Mill (The Hay Wain by John Constable) with its lovely teas room is also only about 10 mins ride from Pin Mill too.
The Austin A40 was one of the 1st hatchbacks so useful
My other half is Spanish. I really miss an ale when I'm in Spain. The Ghost Ship look delicious.
That Austin A40 has an Ipswich registration number. It would be lovely to think that it's never been out of the area
Awesomeness
Nice A40 - can't say I've seen one of these. It looks like a kind of hatchback plus the red leather seats of course. Plus splendid C90 example like last video. Ultra clean too. The ale in the Butt & Oyster looked bery drinkable. What is the origin of the pub name? Like how Monika was excited about the yellow Lada! But I learned on a Vauxhall Chevette which the Lada might have slightly transcended. I'm sure you'll both have fun in Lithuania and if you get your hands on a Jawa 350 that will be interesting.
Hi Feddie the honda cub was a R reg 1976/77
Hey Freddie! I’d love to see a review of the Kawasaki Vulcan 650. Another great video!!
It’s pencilled in for August- I cannot wait!😀🏍
@@FreddieDobbs amazing!!
Monica must show us what motorcycle gear she prefers & has sometime. Need something for the ladies with motorcycling gear.
Great video as always (I started riding because of you!) but surprised you advertised the Daytona helmet. For those who need to know it's a DOT only helmet which means nothing in the UK and is therefore not legal. Legality aside, the level of testing on a DOT helmet is pretty poor compared to ECE standards so just be aware before you try and buy it in the UK!
Friendly word of warning Freddie and Monica, not to park in the same place if you intend to stay more than an hour or two. You would not be the first to return to a swamped bike on a rising tide. Great videos. Nice Butt!
whats your opinion on the daytona helmets?. I have a very small head and find it difficult to get a helmet to fit, i find a lot of brands to be massive sized so i cannot get an open face helmet that i like. I seen the daytona in this video and looked them up and have bought one, just waiting on delivery but would really like your opinion on comfort, sizing and quality, cheers.
Hi Freddie love the videos …..may I ask you a question . I will be buying a motorbike mid sept …I’m 50 and haven’t had a bike for about 20 years . I want a predictable , easy to maintain bike but really don’t know where to go ….t100 or interceptor ….and then a further question with the t100 ….carb or efi ???? Anyway your help would be appreciated or indeed any other people comments would also be appreciated …thanks
