American R&B singer Ari Lennox was arrested at Schiphol on Monday morning. According to the Marechaussee, the 30-year-old artist was taken away for disturbing public order after accusing airline staff of racism.
“I am being arrested in Amsterdam for responding to a woman who is racially profiling me,” Lennox wrote on Twitter just before her arrest. Shortly before that, she accused KLM staff of "hating black people".
According to the military police, Lennox was arrested because of her aggressive behavior and because she was drunk. "She didn't want to calm down," the spokesperson said. It is unclear how long Lennox will remain in custody.
