    I think you play Trey Lance, draft a development QB, and get what you can for Dak. A QB salary of $50M per year severely handicaps your team, and only the best are worth it. Dak has proven he's a good QB, but far from one of the best in the league.
    I think the QB salary landscape is likely to settle around top QB's getting top money, with good to average QB's getting whatever they can on the open market. Teams won't continue paying good QB's great QB money. It's constrains the team too much.

      Dak is still going to be the starter this coming year so it doesn’t make sense for the team to draft a qb this draft. Next year will be Trey Lance’s first year to start, with Dak gone. Now you have room to draft a high pick Qb who isn’t pressured to start that year. Let him learn for a year or so first. People forget Mahomes didn’t start his first year. He sat behind Alex Smith for a year. And maybe Trey Lance surprises everyone. I’ll be surprised if the Cowboys draft a QB this year.

Dak is always straight forward and answers questions fast with confidence even when the Cowboys lose a game so I'm sure this time he's really fed up with the Jones's. He has what it takes to win a SB. If you can't see that by now then you don't know football. Look who his coaches and coordinators have been. I think that’s a great idea; Jerry should just tell Duk that they’re going in a different direction. I think it’s better for the Cowboys AND better for Duk. I’ve seen enough from Duk in the Postseason to know he’s never going to win a Chip in Texas. But saying if someone doesn’t agree with your baseless statement that Duk has what it takes to win a Chip, they don’t know football, is bullsh*t. I know enough about football to see that anytime Dallas came up against a team with a winning record, they lost. And while it IS a team sport, men like Roger Staubach, Patrick Mahomes, Kenny Stabler, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, just to name a few, would have at least gotten these last three Dallas teams to the 2nd or 3rd Round of the Playoffs.

    Kurt Warner, Cole Beasley and several other ex-players explained how those playoff INTs weren't necessarily Dak's fault. Plus, they all said Dak is more than good enough to take a team far in the playoffs if he has talent around him (like 95% of all QBs).

  • @edbreezy11
    @edbreezy11 22 дня назад +6

    I actually think his “leverage” is overstated especially if he plays like crap towards the end of the season like he usually does. If he falters again in the playoffs and winds up 2-6 or 3-7 or whatever, teams won’t be lining up to offer him a maxed out contract, it just won’t happen. Now someone might probably pay him, just not what he’s hoping for though. And let’s not act like Dallas hasn’t paid him jack either, didn’t he make like $75 million total like a year or 2 back alone with sign on bonus and salary?? Financially, he’s setup with generational wealth forever but Dallas just can’t seem to get a return in investment from him down the stretch for one reason or another. That’s with multiple all pro rosters he’s had over the past 8 seasons too. It’s not completely his fault either but at the same time he hasn’t been much of a solution when he’s sorely needed to be one either though.

    Jerrah said he was all in this year and he wasn’t lying. Dallas has a lot of players on 1 yr deals right now and lots of question marks. It’s all or nothing this year. Next season their hand is forced to a rebuild and they’re posed with the question. Do you let a boatload more players go and wind up with huge holes in the defence, trade a receiver who is poised ti be the beat one in the history of the franchise to keep the defence strong and the QB paid or replace the QB that failed to get it done with 2 stacked teams in the playoffs. Steven Jones is a spoiled lazy rich kid and he would rather lose his QB because it’s less work for him and they can sell a boatload of QB jerseys for the new guy and as an added bonus everyone is still talking about the Cowboys. It’s sad but true.

    This is the modern NFL. Not one other team is expected to tenure a quarterback that consistently faceplants in the tournament (and against better competition in general). Not one. And I don't care what anybody says... It is also quite obvious that he is "losing/has lost" the locker room when things aren't going well. Nobody ever mistook 4's arm/anticipation/ability to read a defense for Peyton Manning... Leadership is supposed to be his intangible. I wish him all of the luck in the world at whatever bench he ends up on.

    I'm from Dallas and the consensus is Jerry Jones should sell the team to an individual who knows football and stays in the shadows. An owner who will select a next level coach and allow they coach to build out the Dallas cowboys properly like Jimmie Johnson did. This is what the fans of the Dallas cowboys should start pushing the notion of Jerry Jones selling the Dallas cowboys .

    Dallas could have paid half of a new contract in bonus salary, which would have spread the salary cap hit of that money over the course of the contract, and carved out a lot of salary cap space for better offseason aquisitions. That they didn't makes you question whether they are committed to keeping him long term or if they are now convinced of what most of us already know. You can't win a SuperBowl with Dak Prescott.

    I thought Jerry was the achilles heel for years, but Stephen gets the trophy for the worst “GM” in the league. Every time Stephen has delayed signing Dak, it has cost the team more money under the cap. Either sign Dak, or show him the door and get after the process of rebuilding.

    Of course Dak is good guy. I thought he was good from moment he steps on field as rookie in preseason. He is just not with the teams about that win in playoffs. If you can just move him now it could save a few years in rebuild. Several high end picks. Do it Dallas and I’ll wait. I’m just not sure they will ever get there again w Dak at qb or a Jones as owner. If both Jones were not owner they would’ve been fired 10 times. Dak and his agent are absolutely pushing for record-breaking money. They have always been a bit greedy in that department. Dak works hard and is QB for Dallas, so he should be paid well. That still doesn't equate to him being a top-tier qb demanding record-breaking money in my book. I've seen every game Dak has played in the NFL more than once. While seeing some incredible performances from is undeniable that he is inconsistent. He gets nervous in big games or against other top tier teams/games. Thus, it is what it is, and to me, despite his fantastic work ethic, he shouldn't be overpaid again like he was on his last contract. He only has a few years left in the NFL anyway before his ability diminishes and his level of play drops off. Dallas will most likely need a new QB by 2026-07 season.
