    I use the Pluto trigger and water dropper and have great success with it. You're tutorial, however, is one of the best on the subject.

    Hi. I have the MIOPS Smart Trigger. Do you use that with the MIOPS Water Splash Kit.

    Hi, I am using different thickeners both in the basin and in the solenoid, the values always change, it is a continuous try, i have achieved good results with 2 drops, but with three and four i cannot synchronize. Is the Miops Spalsh trigger better connected to the camera or the flash? i.plug it to the camera. Thank you

      It works better connected to the flash. It is all trial and error.

    nice tuto. i had purchased pluto for my d750, requiring infrared i don't have anymore on Z6ii so wanted to buy miops which has a flash and a camera wires but hesitated because of plastic noozle. aluminium is great ! i have godox V1, ad200pro and ad400pro. which cable do you use between miops and westoctt ? how do you connect the second westcott ? as slave when it sees the flash of first westcott ? if i understand, no flash at 3h and 9h, just orineted at 45 degrees to a reflecting foam board. correct ? do you use xhantan in splash and in bowl ? i am worried to block the valve.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  3 года назад +1

      The Westcott uses a 3.5 back to your Nikon connection. I have the auto light sensor on the second flash. We just used water with food coloring. We did not thicken it, but that might be a good idea.

    hello, just ordered a new miops with metal beak.
    Why do you need two 400W flashes at 45 degrees for such a small white board ? one is not enough ?
    any idea the power at T 2.5 on a westcott to compare with my ad400pro ?
    Your FJ400 move a lot during the tuto :-) but at final, seem to be at 45 degrees oriented to foam board. I don't understand why at the beginning of the tuto, you insert black foam as if you were afraid of some ligh leaks on the water drop. correct ? but at final you didn't use ?

      Look at the tutorial again. I explained the reasons for the lighting in the tutorial.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  3 года назад

      There are many different ways to light water. There is additive and subtractive with white or black. Look again and you will understand better.

    hello, i am installing the miops cables and i am surprised the cable miops-flash doesn't fit. it is too big (3.5mm) for a standard godox V1 and i can't plug the right angle connector into flash receptacle; I could try to press stronger but don't dare.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  3 года назад +1

      You will probably have to buy another cable connector that is a straight in cable.

    Hi, I'm trying to do water drop photography and I have the problem of focusing that, despite focusing on the object at the point where the drop falls, the shots are all out of focus or not in focus despite closing the aperture to f / 22 (time 1/320 sec, ISO from 100 to 800). Also, I always see the edge of the container in the shots despite the water being level. Do you have any suggestions? How far should the reflex stand from the point of impact? Thanks bye

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  2 года назад +1

      We put a ruler on its edge sitting on the bowl of water and we focused on the ruler type before we shot. That helped a ton with the focusing. Seeing the edge of the container depends on how large your container is, you may just need to crop that out.

    Hmm, as usual you've provided here the how-to on getting it done. Happy to have watched this before I jumped in. Thank you. BTW, I think your link to Miops links to a "join-us" page instead of a kit page and there is no obvious menu to get to the kit page- I did find it with Google. Which of their kits is used in your video?.

    Unfortunately it has been twenty days of frustration. The design of the valve assembly looks excellent and the only fault is that any drop over 20ms breaks up into 2 or more drops. This prevents having a nice vertical column of water with the first drop.

    The rest of the problems are with the App. as show below.

    1. Inconsistencies operation of actions. When I select a drop to change values it comes up with Drop Size and a Keyboard. When I select the Delay I have to touch the time to get a keyboard. Keyboard should show.

    2. Timing of Trigger. This is pegged to the release of the last drop. Which means that any changes to the second drop changes the Trigger point. The Trigger point should be when the vertical column of fluid reaches it’s peak. Give or take a few ms.
    If the Trigger Point was pegged to the first drop it would make a more consistent operation. Therefore changes to subsequent drops would not affect the Trigger point. Changing to this method would make a great improvement to the app..

    3. Presets. It appears that you can only save individual presets and not a group of presets. As it stands there is not much point in using this feature.

    4. Loss of settings when shut down. It would be nice if the last setting were saved for the next session. This would also include whether I was using Camera or Flash

    Basically it is a nice unit and I feel with an update to the software it can be a great product.

    The above has been submitted to MIOPS.

    Sorry but I cant agree, I bought one a month ago and it was BAD. the unit leaked, where the clear tube meets the main unit. May look better but quality of build is no worth the $129.00. I have to say stay far away from this unit.
