    Hi i am going to take my 500cm apart probably to clean. Can you just clean all the parts with water and soap? Another question: all the leather on my hasselblad has shrunken, can i just peel it off and reapply it with glue?
    Thx

    I'm really enjoying your videos and can appreciate your expertise seeing the number of moving parts. I have a friend that is selling a 500c body and the mirror is locked up and I'm thinking about buying it for the right price. In your experience is that a difficult or expensive repair. I'm asking to get an idea of a fair price to pay for the body since I will have added expense of paying for a repair. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

      Fair price is not my area of expertise, but a mirror lock-up usually indicates a complete overhaul because the grease is nasty although a broken part is possible.

    So is the only internal foam on the body of the Hassie the mirror bumper? I always worry about foam or o-rings rotting inside old cameras and causing desilvering, etc.

      Besides the mirror bumper there are a few light seals on the body to the front frame.

    Are you able to service a focal plane shutter model? I have the 2000 FC/M with the fragile titanium focal plane shutter. My shutter is fine, I'm just enquiring about a CLA service. Thanks.

    Hi, I have a Hasselblad 500 cm and I noticed the auxiliary curtains are closing slowly is this a big fix thanks

    • @ictcamera560
      @ictcamera560  10 месяцев назад

      Yes it is usually is a big fix. Most Hasselblads have not been serviced in 20-30 years so most lubricants are old nasty and sticky.

      @@ictcamera560 Thanks very much for the information. I live in Ireland but there is a place in Dublin that services them. Could you give me a rough estimate how much it would cost or a full service

    Thank you so much for this,,,, My hassey mirror has a tiny bit wiggle room after cocking, I guess it is the reason why the focus has never been spot on. Just wondering it is a big job to do the service by myself?

    • @ictcamera560
      @ictcamera560  2 года назад

      That is really hard to say, the mirror being loose on the latch would be unusual and I would have to investigate to see why the latch isn't tight. Sometimes the mirror are loose because of the spacers underneath it and that is a big job.

    How would one go about rewinding that dreaded spring if it does pop out?
    Also if that gear is off set (flat/non-toothed part not flush and slightly out of alinement to connect properly to the magazine winder) would it be best to loosen the center gear instead and hand adjust/aline spring gear and then replace the center gear?

    • @ictcamera560
      @ictcamera560  2 года назад +1

      When it comes out and unwinds it is a real pain. To rewind it I use my fingers and coil it until it is small enough to fit in its holder, very tricky and a lot harder than it sounds.

      @@ictcamera560 Thanks, that's what I was afraid of.

      Thank you for doing this!! I did a trial and error (lots of errors) version for my own needs a few years ago. Eventually got it back together, luckily I sourced a new spring, since mine bounced out and tangled itself into a mess. Looking forward to seeing the next episodes on how to lube everything. The service manual is a bit scarce on details. Managed to find the correct grease but haven't bought a litre of PDP48 but rather have some quality synthetic Swiss watch oil that should go down to our coldest weather temperatures here in Finland.
      I have a few more bodies of my own to service, but will wait for your followup befor attempting to get them sorted. Again, lovely work - thanks for sharing the knowledge its highly appreciated!

    My 500c/m has trouble reaching infinity focus through, as it always just ends short before it when the lens is fully set at infinity. I’ve read that deteriorating pads under the mirror could be the cause. Is it difficult to reach under there to replace them?

    • @ictcamera560
      @ictcamera560  2 года назад

      Yes, It is very difficult. I usually have to remove the mirror out of the body to replace them. It's a big job. I would not recommend doing that if you do not have the experience.

    I was DONATED a 1978 500C/M by an Over 90 year old fellow Camera Club member -- the seals were rotten -- all 'bits' dropped onto the mirror > splashed out much £££ on a service -- it is now great -- photos all sharp and beat my 2002 501CM which i think has always been 'out of alignment' so more £££ in future for that when I can afford it as an Old British Pensioner !

    Any change for a video of how you use collimator to calibrate lenses? I have never seen how that works. Sounds really interesting.

    • @ictcamera560
      @ictcamera560  2 года назад

      I honestly do not know how I would do that. It would require a few angles and more help than I have in order to show what and how the adjustments are made.
      Maybe some day I'll be able to show the process.

      @@ictcamera560 Maybe use images / animations to explain the parts that are hard to film? Even just a talking video of it would be interesting.

    Would be greatly appreciated
