I think those glasses are the future, you’ll have everything on your eyesight, but like you said they’ll need to shrink it down and they will like every other Apple product
I've used VR headsets for many years and I rarely use them anymore. Here is why. As amazing as the immersive experience can be, they are very uncomfortable to wear! Doesn't matter which company or model you use, and I tried pretty much all of them. After about 30 minutes they make you sweat, you get a neck pain, because they are front heavy, and when doing stuff with a lot of motion, like gaming, you can get motion sick and nausea. And this this is coming from someone who is a rollercoaster junkie who never gets sea sick! So most individuals won't wear them for more then 30 minutes at a time. I think its missing one key aspect: A consumer friendly price I know all apple devices are overpriced ghese days but that cause they are established and well known products now. I dont think many people will buy a $3000 headset. They should habe started with 500-1200 entry product and gradually make it better and more pricey
I actually disagree, I think a ton of people will buy this. Apple is genius at marketing and they know how to get people to buy their products. There are already VR/AR sets by other companies that are way more affordable than the predicted price of Apples headset. I think they will start high and make their way down price wise with the release of cheaper head sets over the years similar to how they do the iPad and iPhone as that's been successful as well. I believe the VR/AR space will grow a ton on the up side with their introduction to that space and the worse case scenario is that the space grows but not as big as they were expecting and apple will have to eat the expense in the short term.
The price is a mismatch with the specs/market. That price goes with a high-end, industrial-commercial (or military) market, which necessitates high-end specs. Microsoft has been shoveling money into HoloLens to make that market happen, and it can't - no one can with the current tech limitations. Apple is a master of consumer marketing, particularly among aspirational people who can't afford the good life, but want to look like they do. $3k is not a price that those sorts of consumers are able to pay, particularly in a tight market. This is gonna bomb, and badly.
Keep in mind that what we're getting this year is essentially a dev kit. It's just meant to be something for developers to work with but also drive-up hype with consumers for when we eventually get the cheap headset in 2025.
Looks cool but for me I won't ever wear something that close to my eyes long term. I'd try it a few times, but I'm too concerned about long term effects on the eyes.
I think its going to be a non starter. Simply because only the enthusiast market is even going to touch this and the very deep pocketed market at that. iPods and iPhones had very clear value propositions, social acceptance, and expensive but not prohibitively expensive price setting. But £3k for a specialist product? During a cost of living crisis across the western world? Sounds like a pipe dream to me.
This even minimizes apples influence on how they even make videos like this now based on mobile viewership compared to how they use to make video and write articles prior.
I do believe the device will be an impressive feat of engendering that will slowly pull users in. For example I like to watch youtube on my iPad. I am sure a device like this would substitute it with ease. Possible it might be so great that users who tried it once won’t be able to resist buying one for themselves and I am sure there are a lot of Apple fans with deep pockets who would buy one.
If VR / AR devices do not succeed in becoming vastly popular, they will most likely become useful for gaming, media viewing, and general entertainment.
Lol funny thing is I use my quest 2 to watch youtube & random things. I recently put game pass on it & now it’s worth the money I spent on it. Before I literally would get on it once a month. I just want a better selection of games but it’s getting there slowly lol
The price point is too high! Apple is apparently charging $3k for this product. Most people cant afford that. I do see some basic utility function when it comes to productivity, but not enough to create a new revolution - at least not yet
Someone who can’t afford a 3k product isn’t the person who this is meant for, if someone has 1 hour free time after work, and makes like one hundred disposable income a year, they really don’t need this lol
@@TeamCloud. Apple’s entire business model is creating high end products for the masses. This can work for macbooks, iphones, etc because there are usually payment plans associated with them. The Vision Pro will definitely enable developers to come in, innovate, and create an enticing product for the masses to adopt in 3-5 years down the line when the software is there, and the price point decreases to about $1500 or so

Love the zany productions Joanna and team come up with these days. Feel like they are one viral video away from realising their potential. As for Apple, I think people are starting to realise we don't need anymore time on devices, so this will have to be super impressive if they want it to sell.

4000$ headset will be disruptive? Not this time. To be disruptive the tech should be accessible and affordable to everyone, which only the competition can provide imho.
This isn't mass consumer ready yet OBVI. Late in the game (see META, Google, Samsung, etc), so they feel they gotta get a foothold in there somewhere before they lose any hope of cashing in. Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't release/hype something directly related to AI/ChatGPT, and since the other VR developers are shifting focus and or moving on(Meta, et al), this announcement almost sounds nostalgic. This headset wouldn't enhance my day-to-day like the iPhone or even just the fancy earbuds or the iWatch. So do I gotta stay home to use this headset? I was just home for almost 3 years due to a recent pandemic, remember? Uff not really interested in this Apple, sorry.
Also, I think personal virtual displays will likely surpass these headsets and seem way more consumer friendly with broader appeal. Wearing a chunky piece of gear on my head is not appealing, but a cool virtual screen on my wall or anywhere that I can interact with (and not mess up my hair) seems way cooler. I'm thinking similar to what was in Minority Report the movie (or CSI Miami lol). Project that screen out of a future iPhone somehow or Apple Watch and I think you've got something. This would allow me to live my life and interact with the virtual world on demand, enhancing my life on the go. I wouldn't have to completely isolate myself from the real world with dopey ski goggles.
2:52 Smartwatches, iPods, iPhones etc are just accessories. We use them, keep them aside. But these VR things are a whole dedication, like you have to wear them right over your eyes. In HOT AF countries like mine, the concerned person would begin sweating like crazy within 2 minutes. Heck, even smartwatches become feelings uncomfortable around the wrist if you use those silicon bands and go out. These don’t SOLVE any problem either. We didn’t have portable gadgets to have music and apps before, now people already have like 3-4 personal devices capable of doing the exact same thing. Idk how these headsets would go mainstream like people wearing them 24x7 or something. Remember that they’re gonna cause eye strain and no Apple magic can prevent that!
All these videos were they doubt Apple ballooning markets is due to repeat itself. They said the same thing about the Apple Watch, the AirPods, iPhone and iPad
Flawed logic (or at least incomplete presented data) on how Apple purportedly caused each of those markets to blow up that much. The smartphone example is a good one: How many of those phones have been Android, etc.? How would these others have fared without Apple?
The Balloon bit was great ahahah
Amazing communication skills
No, simply because the high price will prevent it from being a hot item.
This was great. So much better then the WSJ chick that makes videos out of her podcasts.
Me gusta esté video mucho muy relajante🎭🎧
I see it blowing up
wild how accurate the goggles are
I really Love Joanna with the Balloon comparison..hahah....hope none of them have popped, xd
Looks cool but for me I won't ever wear something that close to my eyes long term. I'd try it a few times, but I'm too concerned about long term effects on the eyes.
I remember pebble 😭
Love you 😛!!
Just tape your iPhone to a pair of glasses #lifehack
I think its going to be a non starter. Simply because only the enthusiast market is even going to touch this and the very deep pocketed market at that. iPods and iPhones had very clear value propositions, social acceptance, and expensive but not prohibitively expensive price setting.
But £3k for a specialist product? During a cost of living crisis across the western world? Sounds like a pipe dream to me.
It is.

Anyone remember what happened with Newton ? Deja Vu ??
I think it'll be AR glasses, not a VR headset
Remember Google Glass, Are you still waiting for that.
@@Marylandbrony Something like that. Google Glass was way ahead of its time.
Had a Rio i would download music in the late 90's and make cd's back then cd's held more music
I don't think so
Wall-E wasn't supposed to be a documentary
Maps and fitness? So…. Outdoor use? Or maybe indoor exercise? I guess. Hopefully won’t need a dedicated high end computer to run it
Just saw the intro to it. The market will be huge. Don’t know the timescale though. Mark Z will always be a dork with no respect.
Apple Watch, yes, iPhone, yes, headset, meh.
Is Joanna just trolling Nilay by having Gene Munster on? 😂
Honestly, kinda.
Hilarious, yet informative…again.
The Vision Pro will definitely enable developers to come in, innovate, and create an enticing product for the masses to adopt in 3-5 years down the line when the software is there, and the price point decreases to about $1500 or so
We don't need Apple to make VR/AR world more expensive than what it is already now.
I feel like it’s more of a niche market for apple headsets it’s not something that can be used in your every day life unless your job is to play video games or stream
WSJ's editorials may be horrible, but their news (ie, information you need to know in order to succeed) is first rate, just like Chomsky has always said.

Didnt cover AR ar is a whole sifferent market then VR only.
Ar is going to be the game changer not VR it will probably remain more a gamer thing and maybe professionals, more like laptop size market with at home usage for sales and or business being its predominat selling points.
In my opinion at least.
Odd it wasnt covered hear almost as if they want to surprise everyone..
Love the zany productions Joanna and team come up with these days. Feel like they are one viral video away from realising their potential. As for Apple, I think people are starting to realise we don't need anymore time on devices, so this will have to be super impressive if they want it to sell.
*groan*
I also groaned out loud more than once before reading this. It’s just… sooo groan-worthy. Be more discriminating. It’s not a good thing to be so easily entertained by her time-wasting thinks-she’s-funny-but-she’s-not antics.
4000$ headset will be disruptive? Not this time.
To be disruptive the tech should be accessible and affordable to everyone, which only the competition can provide imho.
Nerd helmet😂😂😂😂😂
BTW thanks for the fun video! Love the balloons!
The ballon’s in the background lol
I miss an unknown startup taking over the game now we can't even see that cz this big companies always buy them out
It’s being discontinued
Developers will do the heavy lifting and make this great.
I mean, I don't doubt that Apple was a huge contributor; but it is disingenuous to make it seem like it's all thanks to them.
Long live the Zune!😂
She’s so much better that other narrator Zoe whatever who’s clips sound like a middle school project 😂
That was hilarious, great video.
Nice!
