For more understanding of Hiyoko: She was taken away from her father by her grandmother (and maybe her mother), they made sure not to teach her how to take care of herself so she would have to rely on the family, she was also treated badly by others. Grown men would try to prey on her during her performances and jealous people would stick sharp objects in her shoes. Part of the meaning of her being so attached to Mahiru was that nobody really helped her take care of herself or cared for her so Hiyoko got attached to Mahiru because she was her first true friend. The main reason why Hiyoko acted the way she did was because she didn't want to seem weak or be hurt by other people.
Here’s how to explain Gundham Tanaka. He wanted to save everyone, or more specifically he hated that everyone was just... giving up on life. Because of that value he couldn’t just out himself, but towards the end, it was pretty obvious that he wasn’t exactly hiding it once people caught on because he couldn’t stand by and not take credit for how hard he worked or how hard Nekumaru worked.
Something that has always bothered me is people saying they hate nagito because he killed chiaki...his plan was supposed to save her, but she sacrificed herself for the others by revealing she was the traitor.
I had never heard of Bittersweet Gamers before this. They seem really genuine and nice, honestly, I wish they were more famous. I've never seen anyone genuinely care about Hiyoko. The noises that start around 55:13 kill me too
I mean, you COULD argue that Mikan dies from overdose, but it's still the worst execution of the trilogy. I mean, even Hajime's unused execution where he gets ''erased'' by a coin in a lottery type game makes a lot more sense than ''being shot into the sky by a giant arm while having an orgasm''.
Mikan's execution is supposed to be based off of the treating wounds song, "Itai no, itai no, tonde ike yo!" or in English, "Pain, pain, fly away!" in Japan. That was the title card in the Japanese version. The folks decided to take that song in a literal fashion.
Mikan’s execution could be based on her’s dislikes. In the game, it is stated that she dislikes/fear big things. While, in the execution, the room was big, the arm was big, the seringe was big, and the space, to where she was sent to, is gigantic.

Hiyoko is a character who is unfortunately not widely understood and everyone sees her flaws but not the things that make her someone who... went through a lot and just needed someone. Then when she got that, the person was taken from her... and killed brutally. She didn't deserve to go through it.
