    In this update we take a look at the progress on the Secord Dam. A lot of work has started and they are completing some pull ahead projects on the low level outlet. The Secord Dam is located on what used to be Secord Lake. Secord Lake is located in Mid Michigan. This footage was filmed on September 6, 2022. This was after the collapse of the Edenville Dam on May 19, 2020. There was much flooding that occurred around the dam at the same time that the Edenville Dam collapsed on May 19, 2020. Wixom Lake was rapidly rising due to heavy rainfall and the Edenville dam could not hold back the water. The side of the dam failed sending water rushing towards Sanford Village. The aftermath and damage left behind is devastating. Make sure you subscribe to catch the follow up videos I will be filming.

    My Mom and Dad had a trailer on one of the Cuts at Secord , and we use to spend the summer at the trailer as kids , fishing all over Secord Lake !! I have fished at The Dam many many times , plus just about all of The Lake over the years !!!! Same thing at Wixom Lake , and Sanford Lake !!!! At 76 years of age , I will never get the chance of enjoying these lakes again , but many of my Younger Family who live in Michigan will when it again is filled with water !!! I live in Tennessee now and will live here until I die !!!

      I think Jordan incorporated his drone footage, from a few weeks ago. Because yes, they have driven in a lot of steel sheeting already, and I didn't see that in this one. And I think we are even fortunate to get this one, especially since he's trying to get settled in a new home. That's a lot of work! Thanks again, Jordan.

    Removing the hydro electric generation from these dams pretty much makes the dams and the lakes useless and a waste of tax payer money, in the end you have some really expensive man made lakes that some people own property on...

    • @rifleriverrat9311
      @rifleriverrat9311 Год назад +1

      Your wrong about that. The lake is open to the public and thousands of people have enjoyed it over the years. And that generates jobs and business in the county with taxes going to the county.

    Even the water looks a lot healthier. Hopefully the wildlife gets a good stable winter. It'd be nice to see the ecology ready to pounce as soon as the lakes are ready.

    It really sucks that we're losing 100 years of history. I'll be happy to have the lakes back, but I wish they could have kept the hydro running.

      No Federal subsidies for Hydro electric power. Just subsidies for wind, solar, foreign oil and Fairy Dust.

      I agree I hate them getting rid of the hydro. it's such a waste to have a damn and not be able to generate electricity with it

      Dams are being de constructed all over the USA and Canada for the benefit of nature. Hydro isn't needed anymore, dams are not needed anymore unless water needs to be stored for drinking and agriculture.
      I like that dams are going away.

    It’s sad to see the hydro being eliminated, damming up the river is the only down side to hydro and that’s still going to be there. At the same time we’re pushing for electric cars and electric heating of homes we’re tearing out hydro generation instead of upgrading it, doesn’t make sense. Where’s all that infrastructure money? 🤷‍♂️
