Happy Friday again and excited to share with you this video... Sure it lacks minor features, but one can't go wrong with the price. Stay safe y'all! ✌️
Purchased our first Wyze thermostat and love it so much, we purchased a second one. Control upstairs and downstairs temperatures with our phone. Easy install, LOVE it!
I think _any_ thermostat you mount directly over baseboard (or any) heat source will be affected by the heat coming up. You need to move the thermostat.
True, although I have had success with satellite sensors - they do help. I have a Honeywell T9 upstairs with separate sensors that measure and average out humidity and temp pretty darned effectively.
I just moved in a new place. I thought the thermostat was in a good place, but when using a ladder to charge a lightbulb I noticed there's a vent above it. Thinking about getting a Google sensor upstairs so I can know what the temperature is up there.
Thanks for your info! Just got one of these (the price has already gone up to $60) and an HVAC tech hooked it up after installing our new furnace. I have since struggled with figuring out some of the app things since there is NO helpful instruction provided by Wyze on setting up the app for normal use. They provide only minimal screen details and force you to guess at many setup things. Your biggest help to me was explaining the 5 degree separation for heat/cool. The default cool value when creating a schedule is 75, thus, I couldn't set my heat above 70. After bumping up the cool setting to 80, I'm able to set heat all the way to 75 if I choose. Again, if Wyze would provide user-friendly documentation (or videos), newbies to the smart thermostat world would be happier! Instead, I had to take time to search for info from helpful people like you!
Hi Joe, I agree that some installation steps could've been clearer with CS available to back customers up when they run into issues, which was slow in the beginning, but I think they're getting better at it. How long have you had yours?
Hey Aaron this question is unrelated to this specific video. Soundcore Q30 vs Jabra 85H? I really like the fact that Jabra is water repellent since Im outside alot and I want a good mic. Im just wondering if the Soundcore mic is decent enough for most use after the latest update and can take a little rain every now and then. Had a pair of tribit xfree tunes that lasted me a good two years before they got killed on a heavy rainy day.
Question with the one statement of a "safety buffer". I want to set my heat to 75 and my cool to say 76. Is this even possible with this thermostat or any other smart thermostats? I unlike many others do not care to allow the house to dip to 68 and the house to rise to 78 I typically keep it 74-76 when its cold to heat the house and then in the summer almost the same, keep the house at 76
Just ordered mine... For Gas Furnace Use! - is it easy to replace the existing 2-wire to 4-wire system so it will match the furnace circuit board? The old wiring connection has only 2-wires(white & black) as well as the thermostat. Circuit board has available C,Y,G,Rh, Rc wiring. Lemme know... anyone! TYIA
I’m interested in this thermostat too but I don’t have an hvac just baseboard heating. How do you get around the need for power. I have the two wires for old school “dumb” thermostat. Hope to hear from you soon.
Love your vids, can you please make a video comparing the jabra 85t against other top models, would be awesome if ould love to see how great they compare to others
I would like to install a WYZE thermostat in my AirBNB rental so I can turn adjust the heat when people check in, and check out. Is it possible to lock the programming mode so people staying there don’t accidentally mess it up? I just want them to be able to adjust the temp.
The temp sensor isnt in the wrong place, Your Thermostat is. I hate when You Tubers think companies should redesign their product because it doesnt work perfect in their situation.
Dude, you also need to hear the parts where I said that because my home is from 1856, the wiring is limited, so it had to be installed where the old thermostat was (at least, for now). I have a Honeywell smart thermostat that has two temp sensors on the unit that calculate the average between the 2. I understand the Wyze is cheaper and therefore 1 is what we get, which is why I've also mentioned that I can't wait for the Wyze satellite temp/humidity sensors (coming this year) that will help average things out better throughout the rooms.
@@gearupaaron I watched the whole video(it was a good one btw). My problem was that you made it a point, seemingly, to say the thermostat sensor was in a bad place because in YOUR house there was a baseboard heater directly below. That doesnt mean the sensor is in a bad place....that means you thermostat location is. Its irrelevant to the review and should have been left out. In other words dont blame the device because your house is wrong. Multiple sensors would help, but not in your case. As long as its above the heater is going to give a false reading. Keep up the reviews, I did enjoy it!
Thank you for the great video introduction of this product, but you gotta stop being so positive... In you links, in just 1 month this product has gone up 50% in prices... Oh yeah, it's all your fault! LOL I think I'll still buy it because of this video! Thanks again.
Funny you say that I'm too positive, James...Ha-ha! There were videos where I was negative and, man, some folks didn't like that. 🤷♂️ And yes, it's a bummer the thermostat price is going up. We can all hope! (Thanks for your comments and your support, btw 🍻)

It's great for the price, innit? 😁 Please come back and share your long term observations !

Bro. Good video. You have great presentation ability and a good presence. Looks like a DYI show on TV.
Great job! 👍🏾
Appreciate the kind words! Hope you check out the rest of GearUP for more 😁 Happy new year!
Best review for this thermostat I've seen yet - great job!
Glad you enjoyed it. I just started watching your content and it's good to see that dad jokes are still alive and well!
@@gearupaaron - 😂 thanks! The dad jokes are still flowing freely here - much to Bigfoot Daughter's chagrin.

@@gearupaaron it's been hooked up for four days. I get frustrated when I can't get it fully functional in a couple days! 🙂
That's frustrating. I feel your pain.
Cool video! Any new pros or cons you have discovered ?

Great question... It's more of a handover protection preventing the AC and heater from running concurrently.
Hey man can you also make a video on trying 3rd party ear tips on the jabra 85t since currently there isn't any info. Thx

Same question
There is a lock feature he covers in review
+1 @Sam
Good vid. Thanks. I've purchased this product now.
Thanks Terry! Were you able to buy it for the same price?
@@gearupaaron I purchased it at Home Depot for 79.95. So a little bump. I have it installed now and working great.
Hope it keeps treating you well!
Will you be making a video of the new wyze smart bulbs
I might actually, if there's enough interest. And if I get my hands on a set. Thank you for the suggestion! 🍻
Also a suggestion for you. Good videos for becoming a youtuber on skillshare. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work. New subscriber..
