The siege battles are the best in any total war sofar. By far far far far .
Of course. I remember vividly how in Empire I couldn't make more than two breaches in the wall or other wise the path finding would totally collapse my computer. Good times.
No. The only time I had fun playing siege games was during Medieval 2.
irondom I said that wrong. The siege battles in THIS game is better than any total war. Medieval 2 Ai was just sitting there when defending. And when attacking they ended just watching the walls if something went wrong.
There is a reason the sieges in tww are so simple, the Ai can work with that, and it shows. Thank god for simple layots.
Warhammer has the best sieges in the series. Double walls was just a time waste. Why not 10 walls, more walls better siege? Even if AI completely sucked balls in all of them. At least now it is a bit of a challenge and looks awesome.
I feel like the fact that the hordes can group and get a waaaaagh mechanic might be a little op, oh lets not forget mobile ambush stance and a stealth encamp stance haha.

@Jrock420blam Radious can't model or animate anything. He can only mix and match current models. Most of his units are not even lore friendly. You don't realy care about the hard work behind those models and animations and thats pretty sad.

I'm pretty stoked for this DLC too, finally my Warhammer Fantasy Battles character Rippersnort Snortripper the Minotaur can come to life someplace other than tabletop and Bloodbowl. Moo for the Moo Gods!
Total War and Warhammer, This is truely a match made in heaven I really had my doubts about this DLC, that'd you just make a Mongols version 3 and beastmen were a bit abandoned idea in old fantasy but this play style breakdown really shows you put taught to make it different and unique. Awesome stuff! Don't stop till you got all the major faction campaigns in.
Now we need proper lore faction troops for Estalia, border princes and Tilia to actually enjoy the beast men campaign.
They will probably add them some time leter, but if you want it so much there are mods adding a lots of units to them

Happy that Beastmen are playable in grand campaign, was afraid they would be only playable in DLC campaign.

Comparing it to the excessive price of the TT models is a false economy, this is the video games market not the TT market. CA shouldn't be able to bank on people knowing the TT figures cost a lot to charge more than they should for digital goods when other companies in the videos games market wouldn't.

They added different starting positions! And seasons (sorta). And went completely with the flavour of the faction in diplomacy, events and raiding/herdstones! Why CA, you DO care :D
I am so glad attrition damage is out of the picture with the Beastmen faction! Always annoying playing chaos and your trying to coordinating a major attack. This horde mode seems more fun.
I always struggle as Chaos against the damn vanpires. They come with 3 whole armies go on one horde of mine, and either I have to accept the attrition to crush them (really annoying when in the move to attack them) or take 3 whole armies head on. My end-tier horde from Archaon Lv. 30 with Chosen, Chaos Knights with Lances, Dragon Ogres and a shaggot (all exp rank 9) can manage two 20 stack armies from every faction ob very hard. But 3 is just to much and its a pain cause the vamp counts are shitting armies like crazy late game on very hard (when they get big)

Actually I feel the oposite. I dislike her, because IMO she does not seem to be authentic. Most of her reactions were exaggerated what irritated me a bit.

apart from the research bit, beastmen seems like a straight upgrade of chaos warriors.
TheAmazingBanana well they dont have no horde in-figting like chaos, making them able to make hordes support each other more so that chaos hordes can. Just one of the things to mention.
Their units are kind of fragile tho, unlike the heavy armor and trolls of the chaos warriors. Beastmen have like 0 armor and are meant for ambush and vanguard tactics.
ittyandpocky aha! i did not catch that - yeah that really makes them more of a race for gurilla warfare. But what about there big units like minatuors? they most have some kind of armor.
Check out the video, he literally hovered over them so we saw stats.
A measly 35 armour for the mino's but some of the research and buildings improve it. Doesn't come close to Chaos Warriors level of badassery, but should be ace at guerilla warfare!

A game isn't finshed until the last update and the last dlc. This is also the first game in a trilogy so when the complete trilogy is finshed then it will be complete and that's the level of awesomeness to aim for
Love how the beast men worship the same four Chaos Gods, but are spelt how a beast would say them
It seems to me, you've given them all the bonuses of each faction... and none of the penalties. You gave the Ork WAAGH! And fightiness, but with horde mechanics, so they don't have a problem sitting around trying to defend settlements... and with the horde mechanics, you don't give them any in fighting, so they can defend each other as a massive blob, meaning they're not even vulnerable as single groups... also, they're neutral to the strongest faction in the game when they arrive, Chaos, and can even ally with them(?)... and can ambush better than vampires, in fact, their neutral stance is ambush... then to top it off, they have underway movement?! How do we catch them? They can turn inivisble when encamped and move through any terrain? Where then is the difficulty in playing them? They are the best of everything, with none of the penalties??
Well, the beastmen units are pretty much unarmored, means armored normal infantry will almost always do a better job in combat. The ambush stuff and the "underway" movement are a pain, thats true. I goes I would try surrounding them with 1 or 2 Single armies and then send a blob of 3 to tear their blob apart. After the main battle, you hunt down whats left in the same round -> done. I think their uber-ambush-normal-stance only works in the offensive. So artillery will still do a good job against the unarmored. If they don't move in a blob, then you have a serious problem of hunting them down, I think. And as the Empire, you now got 2 major problems. The Chaos from the north and the beastmen from the south, both requiring different kinds of armies and tactics
I'm guessing that they can't move through moutnains with their "underway" just through forests. yeah, annoying though

I'm 90% that you need to have a fresh campaign for the beastmen to be there, whether you have the DLC or not.
Yes once the DLC is live there will be Beastmen in any new campaign even if you didnt buy the DLC.
In other TW games DLC factions are include in your old saves, so you are probably fine :)
but in ohter tw games they are already existing on the map. Since the Beastmen are not existing right now it would be stupid if they would just pop up in the middle of your empire with probably no armies around.

How the units differ in combat will make or break this DLC.
Reinforcement direction is still random. It's hard to coordinate horde factions and multiple armies when one of your army is sent right next to your enemy and both of your forces get cut down piecemeal.

People are complaining about the moon thing but if you play the campaign it's already there. In the campaign a event will pop up every once in a while saying the glare of whatever hangs in the sky. Really this event for the beast men doesn't change much for other factions.

Although the Beastmen are one of the factions i was the least excited for, i think you made a good Job on this and i will have quite some fun playing as them. with mods like Radious Total Units (because the Beastmen unit-roster is a Little bit narrow in my opinion), it is definetely worth the Money.

They spent a ton of resources fixing the day one disaster of Rome II. It's actually not an awful game now - it's still far from their best, indeed it may be their worst game, but it's playable and fairly enjoyable now.

Why don't you buff the weakest faction in the game, chaos, so they are the most powerful faction like they should be. Better they be op like in the tabletop rather than the weakest. Like all your dlc's (except chaos o.O) this will probably be op, I mean ambush is the normal stance?? CA PLZ
I know this comment was 2 years ago, but I just came to tell you total war warhammer 3 will be about chaos gods, instead of focused on eastern factions like it was known before. There will be armies and factions for all 4 separated chaos gods and will probably be focused in the end times final chaos world invasion. That's why ca didn't do it in past games.
Thank you for the new content. I do wish you would've introduced the wood elves as a counter to more and more chaos. In my playthroughs the forces of Chaos steamroll the map easily, and now they have even more help. :-/ I'm looking very forward to seeing, what I hope will be, Dark Elves and High Elves in the future!

I read through the Comments here and so many are whining "buhuu its too expensive for not enough content!!" then dont buy it...nobody is forcing you to buy it. their campaign utility, chaos corruption is ridiculously overpowered with all those buffs to it. meanwhile the anti corruption buildings are still hella expensive in vanilla.
if you are going to focus on auto resolve please add more and greater things on the strategical map

have you fixed the AI spamming forced march and being uncatchable? Cant you make them try to win battles more/pick more and better armies, or something like that vs having them freebee burn your towns with tiny uncatchable armies?

so this dlc looks amazing so far, what with the ambush movement, hidden encampments, new starting positions, etc..., my only issue is how little units there seems to be for the beastmen. Most of the higher tier beastmen units are just variations upon the lower tier units with barely any new units actually being added in. Are there going to be more units added in through flc? or is this it? because if this is it for the roster then I feel that the dlc will suffer once it comes out, from players who were expecting more unique beastmen units
Even in this demo, the harpies are mention (in the Murder of Crows option for The Dark Moon). Why are they missing? If I was just the harpies, I could accept you wanted to make them unique to the Dark Elves, but with what else is missing (with things that should be easy to make, like boars), I'm worried this faction couldn't be completed on time, but someone on top said "Screw it." Could we at least have something like a unit of crows or ravens? I'm sure there's already a model like that in the game. They could be like bats for the Vampire Counts. Right now, they only anti-air options for the Beastmen are a high tier monster, and archer options worse than the Greenskins. It's not even hard to imagine, given that one of their heroes is "The Crow Father." Actually, I think there's a spell in the Lore of Beasts or Wilds that let you summon birds to attack people anyway, so that pretty much makes it canon!

Well you can try to take a look at other games DLC prices for a single game model. Like Train Simulator, then try calculate how much the total price when you bunch up model/DLC count as close as the number of models in this Beastmen DLC.

I have a question for the dev team, concerning the Beastmen technoly tree mechanic : do you really think it to be adequatly balanced ? I know that it is not the fully released version, that things can - and i suspect will - change, but here is what i currently see : branches on the left increase the different faction and/or it's unit's attributes at the expense of the research rate upon completion ; the branch on the right increase reasearch rate and takes just one turn to complete but at the expense of favors (cash.) Therefore, purely from a pragmatical perspective, wouldn't it simply be more beneficial and rewarding for the player to first completely invest himself on the "increase research rate" branch and then on the rest ?
Let me developp my thoughts : since "Loot & Raze" can bring an incredible amount of favors (money) and that the Beastmen are kind of a "Stealth-based" faction, as their standard campaign movement stance is akin to ambush or allowing them to pass through any terrain, this can makes them incredibly hard to pinpoint and leave basic settlements very vulnerable to their assault, allowing the Beastmen to make quick work and profit out of them without to hardly have to worry about counterattacks. Consequently, if the favors (cash) earned was to be immediatly invested on the expensive but quickly completed researches, wouldn't it speed up the aquisition of the technology on the left branches that much faster ?

I really would have thought that instead of chaos corruption, it would be some kind of forest like corruption where forests grow everywhere and nature just comes and starts wreaking non beast units
So they spread Chaos corruption and turn the land into Chaos Wastelands? Seems counter-intuitive, since the Beastmen live in forests and chaos corruption destroys the forest...
What about making the morrslieb moon phases affect all factions ? Everyone is affected by it in the lore (malus to public order or leadership ?). It's also really important for some races like the skaven (bonus vigour ?) and dark magic sorcerers / necromancers.
So Beastmen mechanics are a combination of Orc, Chaoswarrior and Dwarf Mechanics? Im not impressed.Even if the Beastmen are lokking quite good.

I assume the underway movement. Which is already shared by orcs. So.... are orcs just a copy paste of Dwarfs too now? I don't get what else you're supposed to expect of beastmen. They aren't exactly the most unique idea ever.

I knew Bretonnia is totally medieval France-inspired but ... Really ? I just realized (at 1:34 ) there was a region called Carcassone, and another one called Aquitaine. It's not even slightly modified (like Bordeleaux vs Bordeaux) ! I'd be ok if those Bretonians dude hadn't the most exagerated french accent I've ever seen lol. Ty GW for making us dumb-i-er than we are :p
I don't know if CA will respond to this, but, will this dlc be save game compatible? I have several late game campaigns I like to tinker about in, will I still be able to do that? Like, will the beast men hordes only show up in new campaign games is really what I'm trying to ask.

I enjoy single player campaign just as much, but playing with a friend makes this game so much more fun
when are ya gonna add minor settlement battles and naval battles?and lastly- when will you add the free faction brettonia?
If you play Grand Campaign and you don't play Beastmen, will both Legendary Lords run around in their separate areas? And is the second LL running around if I choose to play the first LL?
Price should have been a typical £9.99 for the faction but because CA are sneaky they added a unique campaign for the Beastmen that, lets face it lots of us wont play. And following their typical price scales, because a campaign was added uniquely to the faction they raised the price! -.- They better bring Brettonia out as a FreeLC soon with an upgraded roster, so you can give the Beastmen a fair challenge, because lets face it, Brettonian factions are quite terrible in vanilla supporting a meagre; 2 melee units (both pole-arm wielding) and one average ranged unit. True they specialize in cavalry but during a siege I doubt 3 units of Men-at-Arms can take down a single unit of Grave Guard in a hurry.
