I have to just commend you on how awesome this series and all of your videos are. They have been very valuable to me as a father/husband with a baby on the way as well as for OBGYN information when I was in Nursing school!
Does anyone know if the 2 Weeks they add on to the beginning (your considered 2 Weeks Pregnant before u ever conceive) is the reason for allowing the + 2 Weeks at the end..? (42 Weeks) when in all actuality, your not overdue, but on time (exactly 40 Weeks)? Anyone..?
I feel so worry now cos my period was 18/09/2015 and my due date based on count of my mid wife is 25/06/2015. Based on 1st and 2nd ultra at 4th and 5th month, it'd be on 30/06/2015. Today is 29/06/2015, but I still not have any sign for labour yet. I wonder why the overdue date happen to me if I'm carrying a baby girl. This's my 2nd pregnancy and I'm very concern about it. I'm afraid of C-section. Can u suggest me how to help the baby born before 42weeks passing and without performing c-section?
Can u please tell me why overdue date happen? And solution of it? What'll exactly happen if I passed 42weeks of pregnant? Also can I drink a glass of morning cafe daily when I reach 41weeks pregnant onward? Will cafe coz any problem? Please reply me soon, m waiting for ur replying. Thanks u.
I really enjoy your posts. Its very helpful! Im 40wks5days. Dilated to 3 had a membrane sweep (didn't work) ive been losing lot of mucus past two days. My midwife still wont induce me :( Any suggestions on why?
I had my son at 42+6wks pregnant. He wouldn't come out, so we had to evict him from his warm comfy spot in my belly. Induction went well and I would prefer it again for my next pregnancy. Here's to hoping that happens.

Hi dr.i am so worried about my boy now 1 month old but after few days of delivery he got fever and indicated urinary track infection they gave antibiotic still i am givung they had kidney scan everything is normal but he get fever sometimes...what can i do please guide

+Suz Mat Hi, I was induced at 41 days and 2 days with no dilation. Dilated 1 cm after 4 hours. Then dilated another 1 cm after 12 hours. I was having very bad contrctions and nurse gave me pain relief. I had very bad side effects from it and was very very drowsy. After that still at 2cm... my waters broke and nurse didnt pay attention even though i told her i feel wet. A Doc came and checked my cervix shortly after and while being veey drowsy she said my waters had broken and i should take plenty of rest now. Pain was so bad... pain relief did nothing but make me drowsy and nauseated and I was talking to myself. I took epidural and that was a good decision. I then delivered my girl adter 26 hours of being induced.
The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) released an opinion last year that I agree with and follow. There is circulation that goes into the baby and away from the baby for a short time after delivery. That circulation is effected by gravity. If you put the baby at a higher position than the placenta, it will have a net loss of blood. If the baby is put at a lower position than the placenta, there will be a net gain of blood. If the baby is at a neutral position, there is no net difference. A loss of blood is not good for the baby because it can cause anemia. A net gain is not good as it can lead to jaundice. There is no advantage or disadvantage in a neutral position. If a patient wants delayed cord clamping, I hold the baby at an elevation equal to the placenta until they will allow me to clamp the cord. This is safe but of no real benefit. I prefer to clamp the cord immediately so I can hand the baby to the mother and start "skin to skin" care which has been shown to be beneficial. In a preterm baby there is an advantage to increasing the amount of blood in the baby. In the case of a preterm baby it is recommended to milk the cord to get more blood into the baby. The whole idea of delayed cord clamping has become a controversial issue for some reason. There are people that feel passionately that delayed cord clamping is of great benefit to the baby. There are quite a few studies that have been done and the ACOG opinion is base on a review of the medical literature.
Hi im confused on my due date because I got 3 ultrasound done and each said different due dates the first says 7/30/14 2nd 7/24/14 ans 3rd 7/19/14 but my ob wants to change my due date to 8/4/14 which Is confusing because my last period around 10/7/13 I dont want to be past due too long on my 2 previous pregnancy I got induce on both at 40 weeks and few day she still having trouble figuring it out but for now she left my due date on 7/30/14..
Your due date from your last menstrual period is mid July. The first ultrasound would give you the moat accurate dating. This means your due date would be 7/30/14 and really should not change in my opinion.
