- So here's my TBT...all 5 minutes worth of ancient 1976 SIR drag racing footage with some of my old buds. I know I have some similar film of Puyallup Dragway action, but I have converted all the 8mm rolls I have and nada! I know there's a bunch more reels in Bob Sr's attic but that's a needle in a haystack for now. Someday I'll find it! There's no sound. Shirley Muldowney (pink digger) and Jerry Ruth make top fuel passes back when they started them by pushing them & then they'd cross over at the starting line to get in to their respective lanes. My black '67 Chevelle that eventually got made in to an all-out 10.90 car is running 13's in street trim. Love the side pipes!

Great video! Thanks for putting this together and sharing!
Thanks for the video. I worked at SIR from 1974 to 1984 and lived on the track, in the little house on the right side of the track next to the finish line, for most of those years. During those years I was the guy who sprayed the VHT on the track for the big races.
I was there JULY 1976 SHIRLEY was my hero
Thanks so much for sharing! I was there at this race and all the feature events through to 1979. the best party's I ever attended were inside those hallowed grounds. My gawd the stories of debauchery we have!! I had a chance to sit down with The Dones (Bill Doner) shortly before he passed and thanked him for giving us a piece of nitro heaven on earth!!
Back when life was a little more down to earth.
This is when a regular working class guy could afford to race and win, miss those days, thanks for the way back!
At 3:10 seconds you can see the late Ray Griffith driving and Roland Griffith standing along side wearing White Pants.....TODAY Scott G, Ray's son owns THIS Camaro.....
My brother raced back then and I was part of the pit crew
Man, I forgot how many trees use to be around the track. Definitely looked better, I think!
Thanks for the vid. But for the record, the Griffith Brothers Super Stock Camaro was a 1968.
Scott Griffith (Rays son) bought back Rolands Camaro
