I thought the same thing when I heard him say that. I've never heard war described like that.

65 to 68 in Alaska - he glossed over just how interesting the times were. Even us elementary kids were embroiled in cold war discussions. And he's not embellishing about the number of troops moving through. Watched non stop planes right out the window from Cherry Hill 24/7.
Lower 48 was literally a different planet when it came to awareness of what was happening on the world stage.

the protesters were upset with the fact we were at war in Vietnam and also scared they may be called on...they were too cowardly to face the government so the took out their frustration on the individual....it made them feel big and brave not like the cowards that they were

The man who yelled and criticized your service was selfish and ignorant. If he continued down that path and ideology, I Guarantee he went on to live a very selfish and self serving life full of ignorance and supporting causes that always destroy people, rather than teach and enable them to take care of themselves without government control and welfare.

John, obviously your head got filled with Agent Orange when they dropped it near you. First of all, you are full of sh*t. I am Vietnam war resistor and that was a very courageous thing I did. But...maybe you really were not in Vietnam....maybe you're an arm-chair hero of some sort. I see Vietnam war veterans as the real pus*ies b/c they avoided the pressures and consequences of challenging the Government. A "one year...and I'm out" mentality prevailed. Not only were they pus*ies....they were just plain stupid. They didn't value their own lives. I lived those days...did you?

No their weren't cowards. They were brave in their own right. Protesting a war that we had no reason to be in.

Imagine growing up with 15 aunts and uncles and I’m assuming a crazy amount of cousins especially during that period of time when family and children were top priority for the vast majority. That’s why America is such a shit hole today, family is something actively being destroyed and has been under attack for the last 30 years, and females use abortion as birth control and abandon their children or have them taken by the state instead of marrying the father, focusing on building a family, and working towards providing for them and your future. This world sucks compared to when I grew up in the late 80s and 90s, it’s literally totally different and not in any good way.

If he had seen combat in Vietnam he would possibly look at the outcome differently .
To me, every conflict since WW II has been an unnecessary loser..
Iraq and Afghanistan ended up the same as Vietnam , a complete waste of men and women. A complete waste of money that could have done so much good elsewhere.
"Leaders" of countries and outfits like the CIA get us involved but it's the soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors who are in harms way and pay the "price" !!!!!

@@jakegreen9534 good point. After watching these I want to start a similar project in Las Vegas. I once met a first generation green beret who was Hawaiian and his unit was nicknamed the flying hawaiians. It was a all volunteer all hawimaiian unit. Forget I think it was maybe battalion size. Shared some great stories would be an epic first interview as well.

Yes America likes war or skirmishes or confkicts while our country has fallen to a state of disrepair. This is far from the best country in the world. There are many that mind their own business.
