Ok, I did a little of all these tricks to get mine working again. Did the unplug 1st, changed batteries for the 6th time, then used the app to re-pair my remote and it finally worked!

Anyone remember when you could just plug something in and it would work. No dances to make it work, no turn around 3 times and say magic words, no downloading an app that you really don't want or need, no having to go online spend time to watch several YT vids to 'maybe' get an answer. OY

I have been using the app which was a nice WORKAROUND, but my Fire TV got disconnected from my WiFi network and so now the Fire TV is unpaired from the phone... Btw, ur physical remote works perfectly fine... mine is dead / flatlined, Only last 1 month...

I cannot find that app in the Play Store. I thought I had an answer to my firestick remote that won't pair. I don't have a FireTV, just a Samsung Smart TV. The two different apps I downloaded weren't the right ones and I followed what you wrote in the video. Yes, I am using an Android Phone.

This worked great up until I got to the screen that is shown at 4:14 in your video. I can get to settings, but I am not able to scroll to the right to get to the Controllers and Bluetooth Devices list. Any suggestions? I am using the Amazon Fire TV app on an iPhone 6. Thanks for your help!

This guy is sort of correct. Because unless your tv's remote is paired with the fire stick you will not be able to see in the settings that your batteries are 'offline' in that case i solved it by getting some alkaline batteries and it started to work immediately

I recently had a working Fire/Alexa remote crap out on me.
I learned a few things:
1) if you place the remote physically right next to the Fire device, it will pair more easily, especially if your 2.4GHz wireless router is jamming Bluetooth, or vice-versa. I have encountered Bluetooth interference with Wi-Fi for well over 10 years. It's basically a crap protocol, I'm guessing because it was designed when most Wi-Fi and other devices used the 900MHz band. The fact that Amazon's OEM would use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in the same small devices amazes me.

2) The hardware design of the Fire remote with Alexa is also crap, unless their main purpose was to ensure future business in replacing these remotes. There are seven (7) screws that attach the single circuit board to the remote enclosure, but none that hold the two halves of the enclosure together. Instead, they used some kind of "model cement" or superglue that prevents a person from separating the halves without causing at least cosmetic damage.
3) Interestingly, there is an "OZMO2000 Single-chip ultra-low power Wi-Fi Direct" chip on the circuit board. This supports 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz Wi-Fi, audio, and a bunch more, but essentially it allows Wi-Fi client devices to link to one another without an access point.

Also of interest is the fact that there is no chip on the board that seems related to Bluetooth
4) The connection from the two batteries to the circuit board is made by four (4) spring contacts. My personal guess is that most issues with these remotes are due to this poor power connection. I bent the springs a bit for more contact pressure.
Anyway, I put the two halves back together (the battery cover will hold them) and it's working for now.

I unplugged the power supply from the wall for 15 sec. Then reconnected my iPhone app for fire tv. Used that to get to settings and paired my remote that way. It showed it was already paired so I unpaired the remote then paired again (all through the iPhone app) and the remote worked.

Hi thanks for your tutorial. I have downloaded the app and managed to get back to the home screen. However when I select settings it will not allow me to navigate within the settings menu to the fire stick in order to pair it. Please can you tell me how this is done. It seems my problem is navigating across the settings menu to get to the extreme right to the remotes and Bluetooth devices Many thanks

My remote did not work (at all) after not using it for a while. However, the batteries showed having significant power (75%+)but below the voltage threshold that you mentioned ( about1.4volts) I have a testing meter and when you mentioned checking the batteries, I did. Much to my surprise, when I changed the batteries.... the new batteries allowed the remote to work perfectly. For those who do not have a voltmeter(aks digital multimeter), you can purchase an inexpensive battery tester(handy to have around the home) to see how much power remains in your batteries. Thanks for the tip about changing the batteries even if they have power remaining. Remote not works great!!
What if it was turned off and you’re trying to Turn it on after replacing the battery? Because I’m having trouble with it trying to Turn on the fire after putting in new batteries and it’s still won’t work!

I connected my firestick at someone else’s house and, for some reason their regular remote is connected to it and not the firestick remote? I can still utilize it with their regular tv remote but, it’s just a pain in the ass esp since the volume keeps getting raised everytime I pause, rewind, or fast forward. Any suggestions? (I don’t want to loose all my apps/info on it either)

how long does this actually take to pair? I've been trying this over and over without success. A few times the fire even fell asleep

This process did not work for me, but I figured out a much faster and easier method:
Download the Fire TV remote app
Go to Settings on the Fire Stick.
Select remote/controllers
Add remote to pair and it’ll sync it
Then hit the back button and select your “new” or paired remote.
Took me 2 minutes tops! Good luck everyone.

I have an older fire stick and a fire stick 4K that I recently bought. First, my Fire stick 4K stop responding to its remote and stuck at the homepage. I tried different solutions suggested at amazon websites without any luck. Finally I move the fire stick 4K to another location and suddenly it started to work again. I then move the fire stick 4K back to the original location and it still works. I then paired the Fire stick 4K with remote from the older fire stick and both remote worked (the older remote still works on the older Fre stick). After 1 day, the 4K remote stop working again and I then used the older remote. When I used the older remote, I was able to navigate at the homepage again and then the new remote started working again. After another day, the fire stick 4K got frozen again at the homepage. This time, both remotes does not work on the Fire stick 4K. I then tried the older Fire stick, it also got stuck at the Homepage. I tried all the suggested solutions (moving both Fire stick 4K and the older fire stick to another area, pressing the home botton or select botton + Play button; resetting by turning remote off or unplugging the fire stick; factory resetting the fire stick). Nothing works as I can not navigate the homepage at all. Now, I have to non-functional fire stick and lots of frustration. I am never going to buy another fire stick again.

I've had mine since june 11th of 2020. And mine is stuck on a locked screen.

my wife somehow unpaired our remote, but luckily with the android app I managed to pair it up again.
My stick was reset to factory default now it wont pair with remote. Just keeps saying searching for remote, I hold the home button for then 10 seconds but nothing seems to work.
