I love painkiller already but for some reason hearing the song with guitars only sounds amazing!! Honestly the guitar rhythm carries the whole song as if the percussion, bass, vocals were still there!

I don't know what amps are using, but i think boosting specific mid frequencies can help you, this is not a very tight tone (except for solo part) and actually guitars don't have so much gain, it just goes insane with stereo... Marshall tube head can match the tone i guess, for a cheaper approch Boss metal pedal (in fx loop) can achieve the sound. Cheers from 2018 ^^
It's not possible. In the recording process the guitar is layered and tracked over so many times to sound fatter. The guitar tones you hear on albums would cost you thousands upon thousands of dollars to recreate, and even then you wouldn't have it right. The closest you can get is their live sound which still costs thousands because they have millions to spend, and use the very best gear

Even though Glen’s solo is longer and probably the most difficult to play in metal, i think Kk’s solo is equally good for the amount of chaos it has in that short amount of time in comparison and also i perefer KK’s tone. Sounds very Thrashy

The solos from Sad Wings and Stained Class are already amazing but through the 80s their leads got even better, more varied and technical. By Defenders and Turbo they were already making crazy solos. Then on Ram It Down they turned it up to 11 (seriously, just listen to the solos on that album). And finally on Painkiller they just let all hell break loose.

Some of my early high-school bands in the late 70s early 80s we did lots of priest songs and they were really easy to play. Metallica aren't complicated and neither is slayer but RTL and Hell Awaits are as technical as anything preist ever did. The reason priest songs aren't complicated is because KK is below average and their bass player is weak

No confuse bunch of fast notes and what real techniques implies . Able to do a lot of notes okay , buts its about phrasing , space and control as well , and if its fixed pattern or broken rythm stuff . The feel . Thats all this with songwriting which defines technique. . Others songs , metal meltown , jugulator title track is fuckin hard .. Unless you were a virtuoso i think maybe you thought it was easy and you butchered the song thinking youve done right . With not dealing with all the subtilities that make the stuff sound good . I think that the only songs you played were the singles. .
