  • Taking a quick look at some of the Formula D 3 rotor parts after a season. This block actually has multiple years on it with the shaft, centerplate, rotors and most of the housings having 5 or more years of race time on them but was refreshed at the beginning of 2024. New seals and gaskets and a few other parts.

    I will like to see some tips and tricks putting an engine together and your opinion on rebuild kits you recommend.

    Are you guys 1/2" studding the entire block or just 5-6 studs?
    Tapered dowels up front?

    if you ran pp or bridgeport. and were able to achive similar powerleves at less boost. would you be comterable with not studding the block? the way you phrased it made it seem like that might be the case

      I believe the power levels dictate the need for enlarged studs, regardless of how you get to those power levels. He said the setup he built was for a more usable power curve. That way he wouldn't be relegated to a narrower high rpm power band only and be able to be more competitive vs cars that had broader torque ranges. He did mention how this approach led to more stress to the block due to higher boost levels and higher egts than he would have preferred to run. Generally high boost and high rpm lead to a lot of excess pressure and heat. Generally utilizing one then moderating the other leads to more longevity. Going max on both will surely decrease lifespan greatly. Its why the streets builds that run moderate boost and rpm last so much longer. This is a generalization, but all things being equal otherwise the statement would hold true.

    Nice! Is a Hybrid 3 rotor possible?

      The X in RX is for "experimental". 👍
      "Rotary Experimental". Just because someone else doesn't see the point, doesn't mean it's not worth doing. 🤓😉 Negativity has never kept me from doing anything lol. 😅

      @allthehandlesweretaken nobody has dyno proof that a hybrid 13b engine makes power.. so why would a supper expensive 20b hybrid be worth it... just my 2c

    What kind of tolerances are you running on the bearings? Stock? Are those race bearings with the deeper groove?

      @CrazyTony65 In this build, I ran mostly combination oem and, a couple aftermarket seals as a test in strength and wear comparability.

    Did you premix only? And what ratio? Thanks in advance!

      @allthehandlesweretaken День назад

      most people will tell you 1oz per gallon. wich is about 0.73% or 150:1 if i remember correctly. i read idemitsu recomended their rotary premix be mixed somehwere bewteen 0.5% to 1% or 100:1 to 200:1 range. since theyre the only ones making a rotary specific premix. i think this is a good range to keep to. it's obviously going to vary on you application and things like omp or no omp.

    • @allthehandlesweretaken
      @allthehandlesweretaken День назад

      renewable lubricants also make a rotary specific premix oil. so it think theres a total of 2 rotary specific premixes on the market.
