    Nice bus!
    You may be interested... Rome City Schools in Rome, Georgia just bought a fleet of 36 new buses, to launch their own transportation department. For over 40 years they had a contract with the City transit department and leased "tripper" buses to be used as school buses. They were never yellow and never had to follow laws for such. We've entered January 2020 with all new yellow buses.

Most of our drivers clean their bus twice a day some only once a day. Depending on how behaved the kids are and the weather and what kids track in the buses as far as salt and mud.

    Nice bus. I have a 2015 IC300 which is similar to this, but not as many whistles and bells. One thing I don't like is the wider lower panel that tapers off at an angle into the rear bumper. It reminds me of Thomas C2s! That wider lower panel is also a lot more work when waxing! Sorry you couldn't get a chrome grill. My older model still has the problem with the windows that don't stay closed tightly. Other than that, no complaints. I could use a heated seat on cold days. I wondered if it was available. You're right about the switches for it. You can hardly get your hand down in there to work it. I prefer steering wheel controls for the 8-ways, but my bus doesn't have it. Our older models do.

    • @SwannBus
      @SwannBus  5 лет назад +1

      g bridgman the side skirt is larger due to the factory AC selection. A quick way to tell a factory AC system from dealer installed is the length of the side skirting. The grill hasn’t come in yet. The factory chrome grill doesn’t have a mesh big screen, so I have to wait for the dealership to order one.

    • @1940limited
      @1940limited 5 лет назад +1

      @@SwannBus I thought the wider skirt had something to do with AC. C2s without AC still have it. I like the look of the IC without the wide skirt.

      Joe Public the dealer has a sub contractor install the AC just over the PA state line. CoachAire does a great job and the systems perform very well. I actually like the simplicity of their system versus the factory system. If I had to guess, the dealer installed system will be more reliable. CoachAire is a small business and the owner does every install. I’m actually having one done right now. I currently have four buses with the dealer system; all are very good. You mentioned the Eaton dual-clutch (is that the equivalent of the Olde Schoole Fuller Road-Ranger) is NOT on this bus; is this also a stick bus? Do you have ANY automatic transmissions in your buses? (For those of you wondering about Fuller RoadRangers in school buses, I've seen them - and not just in Crown school buses, which were famous for them; the RoadRanger shows up in a surprising number of transits - which normally have automatics; therefore, stick-shifters, let alone dual-sticks, are rare air, even - if not especially - in a transit. txstreetman (here on RUclips) has a dual-stick Thomas transit which is easily his most famous.

      @@SwannBus - They have been in it since I was a student in Charles County's elementary schools, and have made several questionable decisions; two recent ones in particular have come back and bit them. (The lack of large buses AND trying to sneak bussing in via the back door have merely made their driver shortage harder to overcome. "Neighborhood schools" are why bussing flopped in the county in the first place; and they are also caught in the mess in greater Laurel (though not alone).) "Neighborhood schools" means growth in the system will NOT be even - as even Anne Arundel (which uses contractors) is finding out the hard way (as is Howard County - which also uses contractors), let alone MCPS (which has a single contractor - First Student).

    260hp and only 660 torque? That's odd, Our buses over here have 250hp and have around 1050 torque, used in double deckers. They go quite well

    • @PGHammer21A
      @PGHammer21A 5 лет назад

      Wig-wag is a signal system meant to indicate an emergency with the vehicle in question. Some states and localities prohibit its use in school buses, while others require it. Because of various emergency issues with school buses merely locally, I'm in the latter camp.

Both him and his late wife never (as in ever) lost the love of the work; both drove until they couldn't any more.
