As a never was JW, ex Catholic that married a born in POMO never baptized, you are SPOT ON about JWs being cookie cutter clones. My in-laws that been in the “truth” since the 80s are the exact prototype of what a JW Elder is and Pioneer Mother in Law is. It’s so sad because over the years, I’ve watched my mother in law slowly but surely lose her own personality. I blame my father in law for choosing to be in this cult despite NO ONE else is the family is so shunning wouldn’t be an issue. I pray for them everyday to wake up.
JWs are continually encouraged to "put on the new personality;" therefore, when talking to JWs at a Kingdom Hall or in the public ministry, they are exhibiting their idea of that "new personality." They are not being their genuine selves. On the other hand, when you encounter an individual JW at a grocery store or post office, they will most likely behave in a completely different manner.
your personality is fine and might be inborn, behaviors those we can all change if need be ( behaviors might be working on anger and feelings, addiction issues, communication in marriage and family) the personality read the book Promethus Rising there is a personality chart! Hope this helps.
They are told to greet the newcomers. Once you are member they can shun the person and their policy on blood transfusion and NOT getting them people die.
As I was growing up a JW, I remember telling myself I’m in training to be an actress. I never got to actually be one, but I was prepared for submissive roles & as a happy dunce 🫤
A well trained sociopath is what they make people. So yes, a type of actor indeed. Facades and acts galore in order to reel new victi- err "members" in, then other facades and acts to keep you in and ONE OF THEM! ONE OF THEM! ONE OF THEM!!!
Very well said! As a woman old enough to be your mom and i was an active JW for 46 years, im now in my 50s, id like to give a different perspective on a few things. When ppl shun us, i personally don't believe it always proves if they actually love us or not. I never did a good job at shunning. My Mom doesn't shun me now. My dad did at first. But over time, he has slowly talked to me a little. I do not doubt my father's love for me. He was raised a Catholic and severely abused and is a huge mental and emotional mess. He and my mom became a JW right before i was born over 50 years ago. He has always been accustomed to obeying the 'rules' or "else"! Hes now in his mid 70s and i believe starting to see that 'or else' is meaningless. Or else what? My point is, brainwashing goes very far and it can push someone who truly loves you to make horrible decisions. Much like an alcoholic keeps choosing alcohol over their family, they are brainwashed by the disease to believe the alcohol more important than all else. Just like the borg says about apostates... its actually the other way around... The JW organization is a disease. And just like any disease, there is the possibility of remission or a cure, but you have to realize you have the disease in the first place. Many ppl have symptoms of a disease and ignore it and just make excuses. Hopefully, at some point, you WAKE UP to reality and get the help you need! So, i don't think that all those ppl don't love us, some don't, but many are just diseased and don't know it. Just my thoughts, anyone is welcome to disagree. Last, LOVE the Truman Show!!! Have you ever watched 'Pleasantville' or 'The Villiage'? 2 other great movies that made me really THINK about my JW life and get a little shook. Great video! I have a channel too, i haven't been doing as much with it lately, but i definitely encourage THERAPY! Love your content and love Heliocentric's channel too! THANK YOU for all your hard work! 💗☺️
Thank you for that perspective. It may be true, but I personally have a hard time believing it given so many people have told me "___ loves you in their own fucked up way", to which doesn't make sense to consider love at that point. Genuinely love and compassion cannot be anything other than itself, and when things like that are said, that is making excuses to attempt to convince oneself that the love is there. Love cannot be twisted, weird or fucked up. Love is a unmistakable thing with a unique energy signature. Everything is energy and has its own unique frequency, and love may just be the most unique and powerful of them all. Experiencing the abuse and manipulation not just from JWs, but from a parent has allowed me to learn that. My family has told me that "in his own fucked up way" throughout my adult life, while we were all subject to that abuse and manipulation. It makes me realize that if people got tortured by a family member, they'd make the same argument. "No, I think ___ loves us in his own twisted way." It shows me someone can go through just about anything, and still think the best of the person and that the person genuinely "loves them" anyway. Cognitive dissonance is what I believe that to be. Perhaps because of the trauma we've experienced, it makes it a crutch and some kind of comforting thought to paint the idyllic picture for ourselves that there's still genuine love there somewhere. I'll admit I am not a very trusting person from my life experience so far, and even more so just observing humanity in general throughout my life and through history. And my mom who's been through the most fucked up experiences of anyone in my family having found herself as the "best in everyone" apologist type of person as a result of her trauma has really ensured I veer stronger towards the opposite direction in my outlook on life (learned a lot of lessons there of how that's not healthy either to be like her), so I'm sure I am far more cynical than the average person. So I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't agree with me here either. Because of it however, I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of "they do love you, they're just in too deep to show it". For the record, I've always lived first hand with a addict who was also deeply mentally ill in my eldest brother Nathan. So I have that experience too. Outside of his highs, he always at least tried to reach out and talk and show the love. Through both severe mental illness and a severe addiction to meth, he never did what many addicts do and just... Love exclusively within his addiction's control. It's wild how much experience I have with all this kids of stuff because of my family life. Would I like to believe like anyone that people under all the trauma, baggage, defensive facades and indoctrination/disease truly love one another? Of course. But it is unrealistic, especially given human history. Seems like fantasy to me personally. I honestly don't even know if this is disagreement or not with you, as I'm left feeling all over the place and scrambled with it. I think as usual I'm just sharing my own perspectives on it. Thank you again for sharing your perspective though. I really appreciate it. I haven't seen either of those movies, but have heard of them. May have to watch them at some point. And I am glad to know my videos are able to give value! That's the point alongside simple self expression! All the best to you!

Yes, we HAD to be NICE. Look nice, be nice, act nice, seem nice, eat and drink nice, smile nice, talk nice, preach nice whatsoever nice or else。。。😅Beard was not nice till last year but NICE from this year to JWs😂
nice is NOT abuse of children and women or people dying for lack of blood transfusion i.e. the blood doctrine. Also as adults we are not "allowed" to grow a beard or wear pants, we are adults, do the laws of the land that is all that is required, drive safe, pay tax. have common sense. Best to you.
Your spot on! Went in when I was in 20’s and out last year after 36 years the niceness is a veneer because of the way we are expected to live. Trueman show a good comparison. Also the Borg collective another good likeness. It’s great to be out I’m no longer a robot. Great video so true. ❤
It's what cults do. They call it the love they have for one another. But, it's really just a show. It will make the new guy think that this is the one true religion. It's an act and it goes back a very long time. Unless,,,,,,you know what and why, they are doing that. They want to pull you in. Bottom line. They all know a newbie just walked into the kingdom hall. Fresh meat! I watched them in operation first hand. They are masters at it, I will give them that.
They are nice so as to trap you, and when they get you, and you refuse to confirm, the niceness evaporates and is replaced by visceral hatred camouflaged by quick smiles.
What are you talking about that's not what he said he said they were nice and as a former witness they are I was as I was genuinely happy to see people interested in what I was. No one is fake they are are unwittingly indoctrinated and mislead no one is told to be nice but they really think they have the truth. Think of it this way, if someone leaves Jehovah's witnesses because of something they seen you say on here and you met them, would you not be happy for them and be genuinely nice to them, well it's the exact same thing for them. Because they do not have the truth it doesn't mean they are not genuine, Romans 10:2 says For I bear witness that they have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge.
I understand that you might not be so keen on religion but the definition you provided for “church” is absolutely wrong. Church comes from the Greek κυριακή kuriakē, meaning "of the Lord" (possessive form of κύριος kurios "ruler" or "lord"). Hope it helps
That's our current definition, but not the original first definition of the word. Our current definition is only part of the way back into the word's etymology. My friend is a academic who's work is translating ancient Hebrew and Aramaic, who has the documentation of the original first use of the word in Ancient Hebrew, not Greek. That's the thing about words, the older they are, the more their use and definitions all change, often wildly.
@@TheCriminalViolin Sorry but that’s just not true and “my friend is an academic” does not suffice. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an ex-jw myself and I have lots of resentment towards that religion or religion in general but to claim so boldly that something like church comes from circus or a brothel is wrong and biased. No where could I find such connection and I searched all day yesterday. Also, church or similar interpretations are used in germanic languages pretty much, in latin languages, it’s derived from the Latin “ecclēsia” which means a gathering. The point being, make sure your resentment doesn’t turn into bias, especially when providing information to a larger audience.
@@ivoryantlers7418 It's not from some weird warped form of bias or resentment that I state that it came from Circus or Brothel. You insisting I've made it up is false. My academic friend is Jewish and as I noted, literally has his expertise in ancient Hebrew, and the first scripts, scrolls and tablets that lead to the formation of the main religions, and eventually the formation of the bible (which of course was heavily cherry picked, and ignores endless amounts of the original texts). And those are all written in Aramaic and Ancient Hebrew. It's from that expertise and heavy studying and research he found the word and was able to figure out it's etymology, thus proving it directly evolved from that originally, to the more modern greek and latin based definitions everyone knows today. That's how language works, it's changes heavily over time. You don't have to believe any of it, and we can agree to disagree, but I won't recant my notation and belief in that knowledge and experience he's bestowed unto me on it's etymology, however naive that may seem to others. Again, my noting of that is not pulled from my ass in order to weaponize some bias against religion. You can believe it is, that's your choice, but it doesn't make it reality. Edit: I also want to make a correction to my own notion that the etymology of Chruch meaning Circus and thus Brothel came from Hebrew - I misunderstood one crucial piece of detail, which was that it came from Greek itself, dating back 3-4 thousand years ago in it's origins. It did originally mean circus and brothel, however, that part I did not confuse or otherwise get wrong.
