I don't know about Sonic being overpowered : he can break blocs in his games, and his abilities are way more agressive than Mario's, so it makes sense Mario's enemies are no match for him.
He's not supposed to _cut_ through things however, but it have been seen in TV shows, so it's forgivable. It just gives a humoristic tone to the thing.
The main problem is that Mario was not put in situations Sonic usually face, unlike Sonic who went through normal Mario levels.
Sonic would also have a terrible time in the bumper hell Mario was thrown into.
I apreciated the animation of the video , but I feel like it was just one of this fanboy things that people tend to do. Like those flash games.
And even if sonic can break blocks , breaking the floor to drain possibly the sea is just and stupid action , he can't do that in his games just when he wants to and I don't find it funny personally.
In fact nothing of the "humour" of this video found it funny.

I like how this video (though simply entertainment and clearly biased toward Sonic) references differences not only in Mario & Sonic's characters but their games. I've heard several fans on both sides say "Sonic's platforming was never original, just Mario-platforming sped up" when that's demonstrably not the case for those who look beneath the surface.
Yes, classic-Sonic's formula as we know it today wouldn't exist if Mario hadn't helped lay the foundations for platforming. But Sonic didn't change the concept with speed alone. There were also fundamental differences in level/enemy design. Sonic Team took pre-existing concepts and committed to their own direction, earning praise in their own right.

Mario wouldn't last long in a Sonic's world. Almost everything Mario attacks is flesh and most everything is set in Medieval technology, with some exceptions. In Sonic's world, everything is metal, modern or futuristic, and is industrialized. Simply put, Sonic's world is significantly more advanced than Mario's. And no, powers wouldn't help at all in a world where the rules are whoever has the best machines wins.

I feel like this is a little unbalanced. There should have been an equal amount of clips showing Mario both struggling, AND using his abilities to turn the rules on their head. Same goes for Sonic, he should have easy and hard moments. Instead, Sonic just blasts through effortlessly and Mario gets his fidgety controls stuck in a loop of pinball bells.
Actually its more accurate this way, because if the fat and middle aged plumber could do better than the buzzsaw that can move in sonic speed and tear rocks away it would be too unreal

I would've liked to see Sonic's struggles in Mario style levels in this. Like actually following through with that water level gag would've been good. Or seeing him try to make some of the *single tile* jumps in the later worlds of the game. I also would've loved to see Mario trying to tackle some of the loops, half-pipes and other physics-based bits in Sonic levels. I feel like there was so much more that could've been done with this, and as it is, it's alright, nothing spectacular.
Then there's the matter of misrepresentation of what Sonic is capable of, but that's another matter entirely...

I thought you were going to do something clever when you showed sonic in the water level, but no, the whole video was just about how Sonic is obviously way stronger than Mario?
Like, I actually agree that Sonic is notably stronger by all accounts, but there's no reason to believe he can just drain a fucking lake. The actual result is that Sonic can't handle Mario water levels.

@@ducksoup6986 He couldn't have turned into Super Sonic because he probably didn't have the Chaos Emeralds with him. Even if he did, he'd still drown. And Tails was still in his own world, as you saw with Mario.
Are you sure he didn't have the emeralds? Even so he could still jump off of the fish to get to the surface.

Sonic would drown in water levels, he also wouldn't be able to move in a water world since he can't swim. He also would die in ALWAYS one hit, since there aren't any rings to collect for him. And mario can't get past levels because of sonics level design.

Nah. Most of Mario's stages would be a lot easier for Sonic, than Sonic's stages would be for mario. plus the power ups from both of their world's have been shown to work on multiple people. So if Sonic got a mushroom he would get bigger and be able to take another hit for example. With a frog suit he could breath underwater. He also has handled water levels of his own and can handle basically anything that happens in Mario's world. Mario on the other hand would be unable to handle loops without using the speed boost power up. He has fought tough bosses so not too worried about that for most of Sonic's bosses. But there are lots of problems in Sonic's stages he can't get past
but sonic could just eat some shrooms. mario, however, would be fucked.

Sonic has been shown to be able to easily break blocs and rocks in his Megadrive games.
And Bowser isn't a robot, he's a living being, so it can make sense he's more vulnerable to Sonic's attacks.
1. If Sonic is so good at breaking blocks, why can't he break through green hill zone one bit if he jumps in it?
2. Why could he make the water drain away? As I think it'd be unlikely there'd be a hole big enough to store all that water and other stuff directly under the level.
3. How could he cut bowser in half without leaving a huge gaping hole? Cause Sonic isn't flat you know.
