Thanks for this review Jordan! I really enjoyed Gunman Clive series on the 3DS and was thinking of supporting these guys again by double dipping on the [ridiculously cheap] Gunman Clive collection for the Switch but decided against it since I personally prefer those games with the 3D effect! :) It's good to know that I can support them via "Mechstermination Force"!!! I love boss rush games! My favourite game of all time is PS2's "Shadow of the Colossus" which is the main reason why I love the Monster Hunter series because the monster fights remind me of SotC! I also enjoyed "Titan Souls" on the Vita plus I have the superb "Furi" on the Switch so this game right here will be a great addition! As an added bonus, the game shares the same initials with my name! ;)
I'm usually not a fan of boss rush myself but this one really stuck with me just like Shadow of the Colossus, but obviously not a masterpiece like that. Great to here you'll be supporting the devs with this one!
I think I am going to get this one tomorrow just wish there were levels then the boss over just bosses. That is why I am a bit on the fence still. Had my eye on this game thanks for review!

Glad I explained it well! Might be a decent one for the weekend, but it's the kind of game that once you start playing, you want to destroy it in one sitting. 3-4 hours will fly by!

I love the way this looks... when the spurs popped out of the cowboy robot's heels I busted a gut. However, the difficulty might be a deal breaker for me. Such a shame...

This should fill my contra fix for sure. Another great game is devils engine. A very well done shooter.
Just a reminder that there aren't any standard levels like Contra, it's just the feeling of controls. 👍🙂 Oh man, I'm a fan of Shmups but Devils Engine slipped from my grasp!
Yeah Devil Engine is an awesome game. Lots of decent arcade style games on the Switch at the moment
@@SwitchWatch Indeed but I'm holding out for a physical version of that game. I will grab this one digitally though and will probably grab it again on Steam (this game would look great in 4k) if it ever releases there.
How do you feel about how Devil's Engine compares to Sine Mora? I think Gradius V and Sine Mora are my two favorite shooters. If Devil's Engine is anything like those two in terms of quality, I'll pick it up
@@fatherfintanstack8810 If you love the thunder force series you'll gonna love devil engine. I actually paid full price for this game and that's something I don't rarely do. Highly recommended. Game is hard but very rewarding. Can't wait for this game to get a physical one day.
This looks great. Always liked when games got creative and gave us giant bosses to take down. I really like the aspect of climbing bosses and the arcade style nature of it. Will add it my wish list

Looks great, however I'll be waiting for a sale. Just bought Borderlands remastered for my xbox and also just bought Super Dragonball Heroes World Mission (bit of a mouthful). I'll also likely be picking up steamworld quest when it releases as well. Great review!

It doesn't feel like a difficult game, it feels frustrating because the controls are loose and sometimes feels like it drops your inputs, and the hit boxes are inconsistent.
I noticed John from spawn wave described it the same way. Coincidence or does he just have good taste in review channels?

You mean the Contra/SotC comparison? I haven't watched any other opinions on this one yet, but I think SotC was always touted by PR stuff, so it's probably in most people's heads.

The graphic style kinda looks like Bionic Commando rearmed on PS3. And that's a good thing for the most part.
Never did play that, although I do believe the creator of this game also worked on Bionic Commando Rearmed

Eventually, yes. My backlog is so big it makes little sense to buy a game at release. So even though the developer probably earns it, I get most games discounted since I’ve got a lot of other stuff to play as well.

I got this game to hold me over till cuphead, and it's pretty fun, but that serpent boss in the volcano area can go die in a ditch.
That's the one that I got stuck on too. Had to sleep on it and try the next day. Beat it first time when I woke up in the morning!
Too much good games this month, mechstermination Force is still on my list but i will probably wait a price cut to take it (Cuphead and Katana Zero are coming in 2 weeks !!! :-p)

Hello!
was excited about this but certainly not for me.. almost 20 AU here and I am just not into boss rush.. I like standard levels with bosses... I was hoping this was going to be like a gorgeous sort of contra.. The only boss rush I own is Furi and even that was not my bag. Great review of course.. I'll be giving this a miss.. Hopefully he will put his talents to an action platformer in future with graphics like this but contra style levels. Cheers.
That's fair enough, I'm not usually a fan of boss rush games myself but as you can see I really enjoyed this one. It would be cool to see some standard levels added to this one though.
