Thank you for making this vid without the blue lady in it. I love the song itself but the blue lady gave me nightmares (for some weird reason) and so did the mondashawans. In fact, this opera was really sad but epic. I especially love the part where she does that impossible thing with her voice, and meanwhile the main character is fighting off aliens and shooting stuff casually :P
And I bet those Mangalores are nightmare fuels also. Mostly Aknot. I mean those mangalore masks do look scary. They give little kids nightmares when they see the entire Mangalore scenes. All of Those Mangalore scenes always scare the shit out of them when they are kids. I wish anyone would reply “I agree” or “Same” After I said that.
This song to the fifth element was good, and so peaceful. Although I wasn't into Opera from my childhood days when I was 8 years old, but the voice was so soothing. At 3:18 the best part to the song. It's 2020, still listening to this song to calm my nerves during this pandemic Covid-19 quarantine crap. 👍👌💯
Same here, I go look for diva song covers on youtube about once a year and have a listening fest. That's what I am doing right now as a matter of fact :)
When i was kid, this scene was so fascinating to me, i was so much inspiration from the diva in this period, iwas like! WOW she's like a princess!! this song make me nostalgic!!
This Song Is The BOMB! I remember when I first saw this on film. I was totally blown away, I said to myself.........Who thinks up this stuff anyway.........WOW!
3:15 Me entering online PvP match as the opposing team is like "WE'VE GOT INCOMING!!" but their dear leader is like "Ahhh he's probably a noo- 3:18 *INSTANT pistol headshot to said leader as they collapse and get tea-bagged.*" Up until 3:32 I'm pretty much butchering any of the better players that try to take me down in a last ditch effort. That EXACT same instrument representing each shot to their heads. 3:33 What follows is pure chaos for the opposing team.. The rest trying to fight, trying to flee from this inexplicable force of nature that is so effortlessly slaying and decimating their entire team.. Pulling out their best moves, camping but being slaughtered non-the-less. Losing their shit as I fuck 'em up over and over. Being awe struck, full of fear yet also amazed at how easily they're being fucked up. Fact.
Yes, a young girl can sing it. In The Voice. Tape: Opéra le cinquième élément The Voice. I prefere the young girl about the singer of the fifth element. Sorry for the text but i'm french and I can't wriht in a perfect english...
Il dolce suono mi colpì di sua voce! Ah, quella voce M'è qui nel cor discesa! Edgardo! Io ti son resa. Edgardo! Ah! Edgardo, mio! Si, ti son resa fuggita io son da' tuoi nemici. Ah nemici! Un gelo mi serpeggia nel sen! Trema ogni fibra! Vacilla il piè! Presso la fonte meco t'assidi alquanto. Si, presso la fonte meco t'assidi
Personally, I used to only favor the techno quarter of this song. In the process I was missing out on a greater piece of music that I believe should be savored as a whole. So don’t skip and let this music’s magic flourish.
+asachildtobecome It's Inva Mula doing the voice, but part of it had to be manipulated digitally, as no human soprano can change the notes in their voice that rapidly (it was an alien singing this in the movie if you haven't seen it).
+GaelicCelt1990 Thank you GaelicCelt....I wonder...if you correctly used Gaelic with The Celts, how do you pronounce Celt? Because there is an interesting story about it being a k or a c which comes from Roman times. The Welsh pronounce it as c, while the rest stuck with the Roman k. Anyway, after this little cultural moment...thanks so much for the information.
This song and character were probably the coolest part of the movie. I hate how they immidiately killed her off after this, and had Bruce Willis desecrate her corpse.
@mistersako2 If you love the first part, you may like to know that there is more to it. It's the start of a 20-minute scene in opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. The second, contemporary part was written specifically for the movie.
@jewelmarkess thanks for the info . ive never listened to much opera or classical type music , but i cannot deny its ability to overwhelm my emotions . i will listen to some more . to be truthful i wouldnt know where to start i just know a few bits i like ie. Montserat Caballe singing O mia babbino caro
@Caramelle13Castle The first part is from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. Then it cuts to the diva dance. But in opera the music continues differently, so if you like the first part of it, you may be interested in how it goes in opera.
@QueenVivian666 I sang like that when I was 6 - 9 years old for a truly historic church. Looking back on it I can only sing like a guy now unless I retrain myself to sound like innocence. As we get older without conditioning our bodies we fail in our endeavors. Condition your physical ailment and your spirit will be free to sing.
OK, this is what I found, the aria is " sung" by Diva Plavalaguna in the 5th Element, but dubbed by Inva Mula, another Diva. Although I have no idea what it means when one soprano sings and another dubs. Anyway, it seems this video is the real one. I mean, Inva Mula.
@Zebbideeful How do you know you don't like opera? There are many different operas, in different styles, you can easily like one and dislike another. If you heard one and didn't like it doesn't mean you wouldn't like another. The first part of this is "mad scene" from "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Donizetti. For all you know you may like the rest of it too.
@KiKiLoVedOnO This is the amazingly beautiful music which is no wonder considering that the first part of it comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor that has been performed since 1835 and is still enjoyed.
That noisy ending is from the film, the aria from which is taken is from a Donizetti opera "Lucia di Lammermmon" and the aria is "Il dolce suono" ( the sweet sound", and you can find it in RUclips, just make sure that you pick a version that does NOT come from the movie.
@QueenVivian666 If you are not sure this can be done try listening to the following opera arias: "Der holle rache", "Les oiseaux dans la charmille" (also known as "doll song" from The tales of Hoffman), "bell song" from Lakme. There are other arias with vocal acrobatics, but even if you listen to one of these three, you'd see how singers can do it. Also, the first part of it is the beginning of the "mad scene" from opera "Lucia di Lammermoor", complete "mad scene" has some quick notes too.
@specific14 I think in the extras they did say they had to edit it a little, i'll hafta check the 'making of' again but i think they only slightly edited it, either way its a friggin awesome piece
@DarthIshmail1 I am not sure about the last part, but the first part of this song is from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti. It's called "Il dolce suono", but it's also known as the "mad scene" because the girl who sings it is mad. This is how it goes in opera (with English subtitles): /watch?v=NYm7oJXVeks

@DarthIshmail1 Answering your question rather late LOL but the song wasn't made for the movie. but this remake was. was redone by another singer, then remixed
I think the soft part really adds in to the action part of the song. It really builds up the experience
I totally agree! Besides, the beginning part is really beautiful and relaxing right?
yea it really sets the movie scene about love and then the action is her fighting
Yeah the contrast makes it really cool
Masterpiece song with unforgettable memories.
I love how we got people in here hating the opera part of an opera song... Make any sense? It's such a good song but these kids are just one tracked.
I am 15 and I watched the movie and I loved it and I love this song!!!!
Laine Farris I'm 2 1/2 years old and I loved the movie as well.
It's not 'exciting' or 'thrilling' so ONLY the "impressive" part is *desired* per se.
ikr, they don't appreciate this masterpiece..
It's probably not loud and obnoxious enough for them.
This song makes me cry, its just so beautiful.

3:18 - 4:44 THE BEST. I will always remember that part, i miss the 90's sci-fi movies. this one is my favourite movie along with The Matrix trilogy ;)
GREAT piece of music! Goes together VERY well - mix of "classical" style AND "modern pop" at the end. Great photos also. Thanks much!
Thanks to Jean-Luc Besson for including so many genres in this film, from opera to rai and techno.

Most of it, say a female couldn't necessarily go as low as it does, and even a male with that range can't switch as easily as the song does.
