If a few of the old EMD F40PH-2CAT continue to run alongside the newer MPI F40s and MP36s - they should give them an overhaul to extend their service a bit until the BEMUs are ready
Unfortunately, all the gallery cars are retired. This means that the South County Connector will be using Bombardier cars until the BEMUs enter service.
I think some of the old F40s have some life service remaining by the time the EMUs enter service. If you look at 4th & King Station, you can see which ones that are already retired.

are they only using the bombardier cars for the south county connector?

I think Caltrain should use dual mode locomotives
I second this opinion
The old F40s were supposed to be retired. Instead, the MP36PH-3Cs and MPI F40PH-2Cs should be staying.

@ they will all eventually go down to Peru. It’s just a matter of time when they will leave the US.
