  • With an ever-lasting growth of content libraries and an increasing demand for higher quality video, the need for efficient compression of content is becoming more and more important in the TV industry. In this talk Ian will discuss how new video codecs such as HEVC and AV1 can add value and more importantly when and how they would be used.

    8:28 Those patents are a thorn thicket. Dare to go in, and at the very least you’re going to come out with nasty scratches, or worse than that you might lose an eye. Avoid.

    19:32 I don’t think I’d be happy with either one. The HEVC version may have more detail, but the contrast is all washed out.

    Good defence of hevc. No longer relevant in 2020. Why keep talking about hevc when it is clear that nobody wants to pay for hevc.

    Sorry mate I could not listen to this. I know it's not easy to be a great speaker but your uhh ums are just too much. Please work on it.
