- The people of Sagada follow a unique burial ritual. The elderly carve their own coffins out of hollowed logs. If they are too weak or ill, their families prepare their coffins instead. The dead are placed inside their coffins (sometimes breaking their bones in the process of fitting them in), and the coffins are brought to a cave for burial. This is just one of the many ancient rituals and traditions that the people of the Cordillera Administrative Region (collectively known as Igorots) of Northern Philippines have preserved.

I love it! We usually see foreigners vlogging in beaches here, and you chose something different. A very local, indigenous content. 👌
Thank you for watching ❤️❤️
Experiencing first hand the culture of the different countries like the Philippines is priceless. It enriches one's being. You're lucky sir and ma'am for experiencing all of this. Not many have the chance to experience this. God bless your travel vlog.
It really is life changing, and I’m not exaggerating😇

Was such a beautiful small village. Where about's in Spain did you live?

Welcome back! You had incredible vlogs from China then here in the Philippines, now exploring northern part of the country where you experience and see the countryside and the "hanging coffin", an ancient burial site in Sagada, that's wonderful!
Thank you, it's been amazing to explore the gorgeous countryside in the Phillipines!
Watching 🇵🇭🇸🇦
lets go!
Interesting vlog. Very educational. Your friendly guide is so informative and well versed. People live longer there because of the clean atmosphere, no pollution. Also no chemicals or pesticides are used.
Thank you, this was a different style of video for us! It’s crazy how many people you hear that are over 100 in the region, just shows you should really take the time to know what you are putting into your body
@@Alan_and_Shannon I 100 % agree.
I like how these vloggers take a different route than others. Vloggers usually go straight to the islands without seeing the Northern side of the country which has different kind of beauty and culture
The north is our favourite, totally different country to the south!
I enjoyed this different style from you, nice educational cultural video
Thank you❤️
I like that they're keeping Sagada for Sagadans only. I wish they'd do that to the other beautiful places in the Philippines like Palawan, etc.
It’s really nice isn’t it!! It’s keeps all the traditions in the village
Wow, you visit my place Mountain Province, there is what they called the Igorots, hope you enjoyed the country side
Absolutely loving it so far ♥️
sagada is my favorite place in philippines. Kept coming back
Nice Video and presentation of SAGADA ☺️ I like how you spend quality time for Q&A with the guide and not just like a tourist that just pass through 😂 hope you guys able to visit the SEA of CLOUDS ☁️🤣👍
Very interesting to hear what life is like to grow up in a very small community
ive watched braveheart ,william wallace,ur from scotland?
Correct🏴
Hello. Nice content. Would like to ask your accent, is it Scottish or Scouse? I love it.
We are both Scottish 🏴
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
♥️
Too bad you guys didnt trek to the Baw-Eng Coffee shop all the way to Paytukan cliff. Its just down there. You guys would have loved that trek
Im sorry for maam/sir cause they already paid the guidefee the day before the tour and they chose to do the shorter trek but anyway if they wish to come back they would definetely visit more of the toursites here in Sagada.
❤❤❤
Hi I'm new subcriber too your channel❤❤❤
Welcome, thank you for joining us on our journey❤️
Filipino here in NY watching 👍👍
Thank's for watching😃
maybe sagada is the popular one when it comes to burrying the dead bec of it's accessibility because there are prettier views and exposed coffins in those parts of this region is well maintained. she mentioned one, she said tacadang. there are canyons and waterfalls there with the mountains and rice terraces.
As you go down you may visit San Juan La Union to experience a beach party. I'm 46yo Filipino but I never had the chance to climb in Sagada town and see these hanging coffins of native primitive Filipino highlanders.
try the sagada cave its worth it
And upter sagada goto banawi and elokos nortey pagod pod sland and elokosur bigan birey Spanish and alaminos pangasinan subject zambalis and tagay Tay city and baler aurora provines
Are there any cemeteries in the Philippines?
Yes of course
@@sprikitik9719
So why do they bury the dead suspended?
Yes they have normal cemeteries too
it's a tradition from several tribes in northern philippines for 2,000 years now.even in guizho province in china, they are doing that.but the oldest is in fujian province dating back,3000 years ago.
If you guys have a chance, there is a place called the Shire of Sagada. It is inspired by the hobbit houses in the movie and there is alot these types of accommodations but there in Sagada it stands out just the settings and location.
Allan and Shannon, That is their culture in that Province. Their beliefs is different from us here in our Province. I live in Sablan, Benguet between La Union and Baguio. And our tradition is to bury our love ones not to hang their coffins. we respect that but not ours here. maybe some here in Benguet but I haven't seen any of that where I live. Nothing wrong its just to let you know.Tank you for visiting our country. They call it third world country, now its developing country I quess. Hopefully.
Alan and Shannon. That's an old2 tradition. It doesn't happen in other places in the cordelliera.😊
Don't forget to visit Strawberry Farm in Baguio
Strawberries everywhere this time of year! It must be harvest time
Strawberry farm is not in Baguio. It's in La Trinidad Benguet the capital of benguet. Near Baguio
Its been there for 2000 years.
We have those hanging coffins in southeastern China too. Nobody knows why people put them there and the tradition is dead because the peoples who performed this burial ritual no longer exists (extinct or Sinicized). They must be the ancestors of the northern Filipinos.
Thats really interesting! Such a unique tradition and its kind of cool that nobody in that region really understands why
Thats before primitive times not nowadays, got madam/ sir.
Cool traditions
NOT TOTALLY LIKE BURIED IN SAGADA ITS ONLY FOR THIS TRADITIONS
mas marunong ka pa kesa sa guide.
@@boomy7794 wala ka kasing alam kundi kumain lang at mag ML
❤❤❤❤wow wow wow 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭❤❤❤❤
Insane isn't it?!
These only happened in indigenous people in mountain province, long time ago. Today there are cemeteries all over the Philippine archipelago
❤❤❤
