You say that troggoths are "incredibly low intelligence", but they can communicate with the grots and make tools, so they technically have significantly higher intelligence than most other animals.
To be honest, the "communication" between the Gitz and Troggoths is probably a bunch of them screaming at the Troggoths while pointing into one direction or pocking it into the right way with spears while making most of the Troggoths weapons that are more than just a big stick.
Ah man, all the troggoth models are absolutely great... but if I had to choose a favorite I think it would be Mollog. Hes like a dankhold troggoth all stuffed into a little package, PLUS he just wants to sleep so I can relate to that, hah! Great video man!
Ah yes.......The Sourbreath never lived to see an independent Troggoth army become a reality. But its spirit will live on in every mono-troggoth army player and the melody of its grandeur will echo for all time. But ya its a shame they squatted it lol
Joshua Turnquist while it is sad, what I do is edit a few Rockgut Troggot models into Sourbreath models, the rules still exist for them so it kind of works.
I like the AOS explanation for the trolls/trogoths over the old version. In fantasy battles they were supposed to be created through chaotic influence. Ya, there were chaos trolls, but it never made sense to me. In AOS they give a solid reasoning of why they're with the gobos/gitz.
Imagine how terrifying a Rockgut would be if one of them had a shard of Hyish Realmstone stuck in their brain and started to slowly gain intelligence. I’m imagining something like Toph but as a Troggoth.
I'm making a small 1000 pts army of these guys! Thank you for the lore bid, listening while painting rocks. Have you noticed one of the rockgut troggoth minis is wearing a moon clan grot as a loincloth? Skeleton, goblin cape, skull and everything 😂 go check it out, it's a hilarious detail
don't forget about the forgeworld troggoth model with arcane abilities which deserves a special mention even though its older than the gloomspite gits release. It is a Troggoth Hag with the unique ability to cast magic
No worries friend, she has been updated to be fully campatable in a GG army with the necessary keywords and everything. They FAQ'd her regeneration ability but to be fair it was probably a little too good in hindsight. I mean seriously it would have made her nearly impossible to kill in typical games.
Great video as always, Doug. I am taking the plunge and I want to base my Gloosmpite Gitz army (namely Troggoths with one arachnarok and a few stabbas) on Ulgu. Any thoughts or recommendations on how to make them look like they are from there, painting or basing-wise? I’d love to see you tackle this issue on a WYR or another video, if you haven’t done it already. Also, I’m kinda sad you didn’t talk about the Troggoth Hag, how does she fit into the army?
I have a proxy for my Troggboss. He's a two-headed Artisan Guild model. He's only smarter than other Troggoths because he has two heads to think things through. He has two heads because he's actually tao Troggoths that regenerated into each other when they were both ripped in half by a Gargant.
Ah the Okuyasu subfaction of the Gloomspite. Incredible power but they’re too stupid to use it to it's full potential. But much like Okuyasu, I still love them anyways.
The troggoths are one of the many reasons i plan to make a gloomspite gitz army. I can't wait to build my own surprisingly powerful trogg herd doom stack and send them barreling into the enemy with moon clan grots prodding their heels.
Can Troggoths take a snack and eat some goblins in the game i think it would be neat, and i saw your other vids about the Gobbos i love them, its just a shame that they changed the fanatics i think it was awsome that they hat the potencial to wreck your army the same as they do with the enemie.
In the 5th Edition Grey Knight Codex the Grey Knights proceeded to slaughter all the Sisters of Battle and make wards from their blood. GW tend to make these small mistakes alot
Hey do you think it would be viable to home brew/kit bash a troggoth/spider hybrid? Like a troggoth stubbles into a huge nest and just fell asleep, spiders tried to bite it and make it move but it didn’t wake up. Instead the venom and environment make more spider like? (I.e. more limbs, extra eyes, poison, web attack, etc)
2+Tough I’m currently in the planning phase of the model and I’m torn so I ask for some inspiration, if you would be so kind. Should it be a Troggoth model with extra limbs and a spiders head or more like a Dragon Ogre (Troggoth top half with giant spider lower body)
There is no microevolution. There is just evolution. Speciation divergence occurs when one species can't breed with its ancestral species anymore. More complicated than that but yeah microevolution isn't a thing
So this is not related to the video but if the hero's of the old world are supposed to be the gods of the next. Why is sigmar a god twice. Also the only hero I can think about that ascended to real godhood is alarielle.
It wasn't all the heroes. Not by a long shot. Most of the heores actually died in the End Times and the majority of the Hero survivors where those that bound themselves to the winds of magic prior to the old worlds destruction. But even than several of them died anyway (for instance Grimgor died even after becoming the incarnate of Beasts). And several gods from the old setting survived into the next. Like Sigmar, Gorkamorka, Grungi, etc. Infact even many non-gods survived into the next setting, heck even Gotreck. So its more just those who were lucky enough (or marketable enough) to survive the old worlds destruction. Being a hero didn't really factor in. I mean Manfred survived after all, and he literally was the reason the old world ended.
I hate that they just renamed everything with some stupid name, we all know what they are and it seems like just a stupid thing so gamesworkshop can just have a unique name

@@pile-o-nonsense3688 Hey, better than I get from some of my coworkers.
@@thetubbyunicorn4085 I think we must work at the same place.

Agreed, thank you for watching!
Karl Freakin' Franz Mollog is a good boi
This new Troll lore is awesome, nice to see them get some love. Fimir should be their "pals" and co habitat with them
Pour out a Fungus Brew for the Sourbreath Troggs who died to bring us this wonderful subfaction.
hahaha

Great video Doug, that one Troll/Troggoth is wandering through one of realms looking for a sleep place, that's funny.
Love it :)

Soilid point, I tend to forget Forge World units. I am a bit bummed that she cannot use the spell lores (outside of endless spells)

I love the whole concept of Mollog. I plan on running him in my army.
Nice!!!
Go for it. The Troggoth faction actually got the honour of having one of the only special characters in the book.
I love your videos. I find myself watching and re-watching them many times.
thank you so much!!!!!
I want a colossal Dankhold Troggoth now that's larger than any model in the gitz
My fav new army! Love the sculpts! And my Troggoth Hag needed an army!
Thanks
Lol so I'm painting my hag up. Am I weird for wanting to give her a tramp stamp and bubblegum pink nails LOL?
My auto correct keeps changing it to Trollocs.

Are you gonna get some Troggoth just for the fun of it Doug? ;) I'm tempted tbh
Nah.... I dont think i can stop at just one, lol

Just picked up my first box of Rockgut Troggoths; I’m gonna need more. They are so cool and the box sets are amazing.
"If they were an ounce smarter" So... Basically ogors lol
Their hide is tough as stone, 5+ save is all I can offer though
The troggoths are one of the many reasons i plan to make a gloomspite gitz army. I can't wait to build my own surprisingly powerful trogg herd doom stack and send them barreling into the enemy with moon clan grots prodding their heels.
Thanks for the video, good Lore to start the day.
That's the goal ;)
Hey man, which video covers when Archaon and Dorghar fought the agents of the Chaos Gods and absorbed all the greater daemons?
Great job Doug!
Hey thank you so much!!!
Kruleboyz Troggoth also weirdly evolve
I really like the new design and everything but I really hate at the same time the name changes.
Another awesome vid!

Not in a rules sense, but I imagine it happens all he time in the lore :)
Amazing video!
Thank you!!!
@2+Tough Great video but Troll/Troggoth have always had acid spit
the battletome specifically pointed it out as a unique evolution... so I did too ;)
In the 5th Edition Grey Knight Codex the Grey Knights proceeded to slaughter all the Sisters of Battle and make wards from their blood. GW tend to make these small mistakes alot
To be fair that was Matt Ward

yeah man, I say go for it! Build an amazing model and then give it rules with the Anvil of Apotheosis from GHB 2020!

At 13 mins + you mention taking artefacts from the dead in game. Could you point us to where the rules or options are for that? Thanks
F R O G
Evolving from living underground eh? Crystal Dwarf incoming.
*WOONS!* *AZERITE!* *CHAMPION!*
Chaos Troggoths when????
Hey 2+Tough what are your least favorite models from Age of Sigmar?
least favorites? hmn... for the actual sculpts i'd say Chaos marauders. For least favorite rules I'd say Gargants lol
I always draw a Troggoth with this face .____.

The stone trolls look the coolest to me
yeah man, they are awesome!
Is there any lore on the Trog Hag?

Blame the need to copy write. GW are simply protecting their intellectual property. Besides, the names grow on you after a time,
I guess but it just feels like a waste to me, gw is so greedy with everything it seems
@@grassytiger it is a good idea to get profit and make their races more distinct
