    I disagree. Because now your trying to get data accross the net twice. Maybe double using a server. It'd be better to test a server that's not fast for either but gives the best results. Or just download the same file from both through say Microsoft

    • @tttechnology
      @tttechnology  5 лет назад

      You're not getting the data through twice , the data is just travelling a further distance , best to use speed test from your ISP as they generally always perform well, you can download a file but of course it takes longer and will depend on the websites bandwidth management

    It should also be noted if anyone is getting very low bandwidth numbers, it can also be your modem, router, or client device (PC/Mac/Android). The speed test numbers will only be as fast as the weakest link in your network setup. A modem, router, or android box *without* gigabyte ethernet connection (Fast Ethernet 100) will max out at 100Mbps even if the VPN and ISP are capable of delivering much more bandwidth.

    wow great video again. will be trying that out this weekend. just want to ask do you live inside virgin media towers, getting nearly 400mbps download speeds.
    i have a 200mbps contract with then but never get any higher than 120mbps, which is fine for me but i hate to think what would happen if i dropped to 100mbps. virgin broadband is great stuff, but surely i should get more than 60% of my predicted speed from them.

    • @tttechnology
      @tttechnology  5 лет назад +1

      I would ring them up buddy. If you are paying 200mb then thats average so you should get higher than that most of the time but a bit less at peak times. May be an issue their end or maybe cabling in your home. I had a disagreement with the virgin engineer when he came to install mine and he refused to wire it up the way i wanted it as he said it wouldnt work. Told him not to bother and just leave me enough cable after checking his way worked. Then low and behold my way worked perfectly fine

    • @teddydabear8772
      @teddydabear8772 5 лет назад

      In most cases, if the hardware is good enough to decrypt 400mbps streams and a network connection is good, VPNs will slow down the connection from 9-12%. I tried out all of the popular ones and my experience has been that's the norm. 60% is too much so there is something wrong. Try running a speedtest from a PC with your VPN's PC client, or the equivalent apps for the MAC. Even a high end smart phone on a wifi connection with a vpn client can give you an idea of what the actual speeds the VPN can deliver since the hardware on smart phones are much more advanced than those on Android boxes.

    • @malcolmplace1204
      @malcolmplace1204 5 лет назад

      that speed is from my pc it has no vpn on it its just my normal computer at home. only my android box has the vpn. my box gives me about 80mbps to 100mbps depending on time, so thats the general loss i expect from 120 on a vpn. its the main loss at my household pc is bad.

    • @teddydabear8772
      @teddydabear8772 5 лет назад

    • @tttechnology

    Hi thanks for the video. I assume you perfomed this test on a Windows machine? How about Android? I'm using PIA. My internet speed without VPN is 200Mbit. With VPN enabled max 50Mbit. Ping is 20ms on average. Why is there so much loss on Android?

    • @tttechnology
      @tttechnology  5 лет назад

    • @rizzo1983
      @rizzo1983 5 лет назад

      I think PIA maybe throttling, I emphasize think because I use to get good speeds...

    • @teddydabear8772
      @teddydabear8772 5 лет назад

      Run it from a real desktop PC or Mac on a browser. I suspect it might be your android box. Encrypting and unencrypting a data stream is cpu intensive so the processor in your android box might not be able to handle anything higher than 50Mbps. Personal computers have more powerful processors. If your speedtest is higher from a PC, then it points to the number crunching capabilities of the android box. There are other variables too to consider but many android boxes are underpowered and it is difficult for them to decompress, deencrypt and decode video in real time at higher speeds. Rule out the android box by running the same test on another device like a PC.

    TT is so right about the VPN and internet speeds. My current internet speed is 230 download speed without a VPN turned on. When I turn on the VPN and choose the correct location (best server city and server), my speed is tested at 206-209 range. The key is to be patient and look for the best VPN city and server for you. A VPN is not a plug and play program. It has to be investigated for the best results.

    • @tttechnology
      @tttechnology  5 лет назад

      a lot seem to max out about 200 - 240 but lets be honest thats more than enough :)

    • @digitalman6603
      @digitalman6603 5 лет назад

      Exactly TT. If you can't get your system to properly play video with 200 meg download, you have other problems that can't be fixed here. I find it amazing how people will buy a service and then not become educated on how to get the most out of that service, I use Express VPN and have wonderful results with it. When I initially purchased the service, I went through a period of learning to get the most out of my experience. It just takes time and patience to test various locations and servers. In today's society, people expect it right now and perfect out of the box.
