How would you find the slope of the tangent line? I understand that we can take a derivative, but in that specific situation there was no formula for the equation.
Good question! The simplest way to do that at this level is to just draw a tangent line (a line that touches the graph at just that one point) and use algebra (rise over run) to determine its slope. It might not be the most accurate method, but it will work for AP Chem.
So, will we ever be asked to find a tangent line on the exam? I feel as if all of unit 5 really needs calculus to make intuitive sense and calculating a tangent line by hand feels a little trivial.
They don't ask students to calculate the slope of a tangent line very often on the exam. More often they ask students 'how' they would determine the rate law, without doing any calculations.
This is the only reason im doing ok in my AP Chem class. Best AP Chem teacher out there.
Thanks for your kind words! Keep working hard, and you will do just fine!
I'll be teaching unit 5 next semester. First year AP Chem teacher here. You're a lifesaver! Can't thank you enough!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words! You will do a wonderful job teaching AP Chem this year -- keep up the good work!
The goat saving me for the 5th unit in a row this school year
I'm so glad to be able to help!
Thank you for all your videos! I’ve been struggling in AP Chem, but your videos have really helped me understand kinetics. Best AP Chem teacher ever!!
I really appreciate your kind words. I know AP Chem is tough, but I know you can do this! Don't give up!
Thank you so much Mr. Krug, your lessons help me a lot!
I'm so glad to hear that. Keep working hard and you will do great!
You have the best chemistry videos!! Thank you for all you help.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I am so happy to be of help to you!
Thank you for your videos, Mr. Krug! My friend Anish is doing really well in his chemistry class now, he owes it all to you!😊
I'm so happy to hear that. Thanks for sharing my videos with Anish!
