This is one of my favorite movies. The writing is authentic and Rick Schroder plays a great country boy.
What an absolutely beautiful movie. So very happy that father and son bridged the gap.
Felt sad about the mother, though she got to choose how she wanted to go.

Carroll Baker did such a wonderful job in this film as well as the rest of the cast. What an outstanding performance from Miss Baker. I’m so glad I watched this movie. It was sad but also very heartwarming…

Heart-wrenching but wonderful move.
It astonishes me how two actors (in this case, Ricky Schroeder and Carroll Baker), both starting out from two complete disparate backgrounds and eras of filmmaking, can sometimes end up co-starring in some of the same movies together.

Crenna was a vastly underrated actor. I’ve always found him solid. Even in Our Miss Brooks.

I good movie with "The Champ" for those who remember a little Ricky Schroeder in that movie with John Voigt. But, winter in Nebraska isn't usually rain but rather blizzards. Spent some time in the state.

I almost didn't watch it thinking it would be boring. WELL it was not in any way. So much going on seemed like our family especially the flooding. We were blocked in (thank God it didn't flood our home or anything)for a whole 7 days. So, watch this movie. Schroder was so good They all were. Thanks Rare Films

The father was unforgiving, stubborn and quarrelsome; it was stressful watching him, I can’t imagine having one like that in real life.
I love those places more then other places in the world from Texas crossing by Oklahoma,Kansas,Nebraska,South and North Dakota's..the valley Center.. Beautiful..

OMG, tears are falling like rain. I just know I could never leave my momma - I would drag her if I had to. I am surprised the father didn't stay.
A very hard choice, the children. When you love unselfishly, you want what´s best for the one you love, no matter how much it hurts you. She was in more pain than she showed.
