This was legendary. I actually got into chess because of this broadcast. It was promoted at the time on the Guardian news website. I therefore started following the World Cup with the commentary by Svidler, Grischuk and (sometimes) Anish. Didn't know anything at the time about the game but these guys were so hilarious. (and, so different from what I imagined chess commentary to be!). Now I'm in love with the game as well as some of the characters commentating and streaming.
13:44 😅😅😅 "Yeah, Peter "sort of" knows this defensive idea". "Sort of" 😅 Grischuk's killing it with one-liners, always love the banter between these two.
Oh boy! Having An-ISH as an analyst is mistakISH. Svidler: So Anish, what do you think of the position? Anish: Should be an easy draw for Magnus. He should offer a draw before Fabi resigns.
Man I miss the original Chess24. The Chesscom organized events just aren't the same as Banter Blitz and relaxed layed back commentary like Jan's and Svidler's.
Those were the days. Lots of technical issues and bad sound but the commentary was great, the banter blitz session always interesting and the general atmosphere was much more relaxed. It's great that chess has become more popular since then but some things got lost in the process.
@@MyNameIsXYlp ruclips.net/video/2cm70y2oXEM/видео.html It's not done, it's not done, it's all 'bit sh*tty, but not done. It is surely not done for, we will go for little more. It's not done, it's not done, don't exaggerate or you'll get one. There are Russian subtitles, you can translate the whole thing if you wish. Quite funny and to the point. Nice found by Grishchuk.

I just watched a go game where a professional player resigned in an even game. There’s no draws in go, but it was a half point game, and she thought she was losing when she wasn’t. I suppose this sort of thing isn’t that rare, where one hallucinates, even top players, like the double blunder game Anand Carlson.
Peter- but are you trying to win or are you trying to lose?
Anish- i'm trying to draw

That's good to hear, 👍
Grischuk is just a beast at stories and casual humor
I would be really happy to have him as my drinking buddy 🤣🤣 but I don't really know much chess ..so he may feel bored.

😊 Just coz I love these commentators
how wierd it must have been for them to speak English between each other, being native Russian speakers
English with Russian intonation
This must be the best commentator line-up ever)
Yes I agree, Jan Grischuk Leko would be second.
Pepe Cuenca, El Divis y Miguelito are by far better
