When I played during my middle school season I usually played 3-2 3top 2bottom this is really gonna help me in my freshman to senior years in highschool knowing what I need to do is gonna help me alot thank you
as to where to go if your team runs plays than I would ask the coach how to run the plays and where to go. However in the low post If your trying to post up a player than you will want to be a foot or 2 away from the block or outside the key, this gives you room to operate when you get the ball (practice different moves so you know the distance you like to be away from the rim). For rebounding after the ball hits the rim and its on its way back down thats when you jump. If the ball is shot on the right side you have a good chance it will bounce out on the left side. I am 6’2” and 16 y, here in Brazil(where I live) the average man is 5’6”/5’7” and I am taller than my friends, which are usually between the 5’11”/6’0” margin. My go to move is the post fade, and I think my game is similar to Patrick Ewing or Hakeem Olajuwon, I am also 210 pounds so that helps with my strength. If you coach have any other tips that could help me improve my game I would be blessed, I am a huge fan of the channel and I hope u can help me.
Thats great!!! Thats around the same size as me when I played in a D-League training camp, Erie Bayhawks. Work on shooting high percentage 3s and using your size to drive by defenders from the perimeter, and high post. Since you have a great post fadeaway look into some Kobe Bryant move sets like this ruclips.net/video/MjYzLOAAhB8/видео.html
Sup alan, bit of an update. Ive started year 10, which would be a freshman and i have grown to 6'3 and nearly 6'4, would position would i fit into in high school, would i be tall enough to play C or PF?
You may be stuck at center at that age but you would be a guard later on in life (unless your able to look and play like Zion... he is 6'6) ... Personally I would work on guard skills while working on building muscle to be like Lebron/Zion ... Strength really helps a lot in Basketball
Im center player and i dont really understand what i do cuse i dont understand what my team does and i have no idea what to do... mybe i should do more solo gamplay??
dont understand plays or the idea of what a center does, or dont know what to do when you have the ball in the post, or dont know what to do when you dont have the Basketball in the post?
hey i'm 15 years old and i play center, 6 feet 4 only my biggest problem is i'm a little underweight (158 lbs) i usually get all the rebounds only when i backdown to get to low post i can't because whoever guards me , holds me in place, what can I do?
I have been meaning to make a video on that topic, but nobody wants to be in a video lol ... Its hard to explain in writing but I can try... There is whats called a swim move, now this is in most leagues now called a foul, however you can get away with the move by swinging your arm under the other players, instead of over their head. When doing this you will step through and gain position in front of the rebounder. I will make a video eventually on the topic... I just need someone in may area who is ok with being on camera
So I am the tallest player in my grade and people are calling me the number one pick for whenever we play at recess but there’s one kid who can get rebounds better than me even though I’m taller do you have advice for being able to jump higher and just getting rebounds
boxing him out will help you get more rebounds. here are some videos I hope help: Vertical Jump Training Playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLO5DgInYakGYT-vh9TrI6VvB0OmG1sGwT&disable_polymer=true Rebound Moves: ruclips.net/video/1cdpcdaQ8q4/видео.html How To Get More Rebounds: ruclips.net/video/nGNr1NBVVcs/видео.html
explain that to you coach and he can hopefully run some drills to help. ... if you mean rotate on defense its hard to explain in a comment but rotate down to cover 2 and then recover out to the ball if theres a kick out, and someone should rotate to cover your man
Yo ive been practicing postup moves but i never use them in games and also how can i score more as a center and also like i how can i add intesity instead of just practicing the post move with no one gaurding pls im really struggling i give in a ton of practice and im seeing results so i need ur help
Im a center and i really cant shoot i just can seem to learn cause i based my game in players like dwight howard, shaq ,hakeem etc is it really that important for me to learn how to shoot?if it is i may workout shooting more.
its extremely important these days, with more teams running 5 out style offences and the want and desire to have their offences revolve around the three point shot you will need to work on shooting. I was at an event where Nick Nurse (Head Coach for the Raptors) and he said that they will look at high percentage 3 point shooters over a player who isn't a shooter and this was for every position. ... Think of shaq, imagine if he was a 40% 3 point shooter and made 25% more free throw shots on top of being such a dominant player in the post
think of your skills being the army and the game being a war... if you go to war with ground personal (post skills), and Navy frigates (rebounding, and free throw shooting), but no fighter jets (shooting 3s) your country would be at a disadvantage... by having an all around game your skills would be like the USA military and have no weakness... Hope that makes sense

Im 6 1 and 13 and i play center and i play more offensive than defensive im more of a mid range guy more than post but if i need to i can but im bad at my post game any tips for getting boards and blocking??
Use your height to your advantage, try getting a ton of rebounds. If you are 13 and 6'1, nobody should be able to contest you with rebounds. Try taking as many as possible, and practice layups/dunks for easy center plays, you can block and screen super easily. Just play supportive for your main shooters.
Im new to basketball im a center but im scared when someone pass me the ball i panicked so i just pass the ball to someone and i dont know where to go when were on offense im just stuck in the low post not moving
I want to learn and try those moves but my defenders keep having distance and not guarding me close so i can go arouns if i want to go for a layuo i gotta do it like shaq power and jump.Any advices?
Im 5'9" and i score over 6'2" In tournaments i play 5 and up and under is the best way to get open Im 13 years old but my weight helps me a lot (194 lbs)
Lol I have mixed feelings on him. I think he’s a great player but I don’t think he is either not into playing the raptors style or he isn’t being utilized correctly ... one of the other
learn how different angles can help you get the basket. Learn how you can use the rim to stop the defender from blocking you... I am 6'2, overweight and out of game shape But I posted up a 6'9 player twice the other day and I scored. Know angles and how to get defenders off their feet
Yeah same but I am in middle school I am 5’8 too but I am like 230 pounds so I could just push them around even if they were like 6foot ( I also play football and I wanted to bulk because I play left guard)
Hey I coach freshman girls but got offered a varsity head coaching job at a weaker school less games less stress way more money I dun Wana burn my friend but damn it’s like double pay with less games and I can coach middle school boys basketball too..... damn don’t Wana let my boy down tho any advice ?
there are so many things you need to look at, family, and well being is the biggest. If you feel like you could help the school grow and have the ability to do what you want without the school heads forcing you to do something than it might be interesting. But again if your family will suffer dont move. The questions I would ask, will I be happy, will my family be happy, will I grow in the position and will it lead to new things.
I’m only 6 feet I’m 14 and taller than most of my opposition I don’t if Im tall enough to be a Center but it Wht I get stuck at which don’t mind and im in the uk
im really bad at shooting. Like i trained it for a year but i just cant hit consistently. Guys you dont have to be a play like everyone, if you are way more effective in the old school center then play like an og center. Ur coach will be pissed if you try wide open shots and you miss. Its not about the Highlight its about efficiency.
You also have to go with what is trending. If your a center you need to be able to shoot... working on your shot for a year is not long enough. Great shooters like Ray Allen, Klay Thomson, Matt Thomas etc, work on their shot everyday for years. I worked on my shot 3-4 hours a day for 3 years leading up to my training camp in the D-League. Thats not including pick up games, weight lifting, post work (even though I was a guard) and dribble shoot drills. You want a chance to be great you need to put 8 hours a day or more into school and 6-8 hours a day into training your skills and researching Basketball strategies and drills.
I'am only 5'7 and I am a center,because In Indonesia(Asia)5'7 is tall,and the short one is 4'5 ,I am in 8th grader and I can hit the hoopboard,9 inches more vert I can dunk😁
I’m in 7th grade and i have my first game ever coming up soon and I’m probably gonna be a center and I have really no idea where I’m supposed to be lmaooo
Thats the issue I am seeing these days with some traditional centers ... however if you could work on shooting and foot speed (and maybe get down to 250ish pounds) I know you would be an absolute killer on the Basketball court
Im 5'10 and 200 lbs my weight helps me i bully people in the paint last time there was a guy he was 6'4 but skinny and i just bullied him im only 14 too i play center and i hope i will grow more in the future
if your parents are tall your all set but If I may suggest trying to get to 170 or 180 and look into how Kyle Lowry and Fred Vanvleet play... you could use your size to bully players while driving to the rim (thats what I used to do) ... My playing weight was 200 pounds and 6'2

Im always confused where to go and where I should go as a center. I also want to improve my rebounding timing.
as to where to go if your team runs plays than I would ask the coach how to run the plays and where to go.
Basketball Coach Allen will do coach, thanks!
Thanks

I’m 6’4 Is that good enough for center in casual games?
yes
Im prepering to play center for my team so im watching this
Sup alan, bit of an update.
@@bballcoachallen thanks!
thanks im a center in 7th grade and im 5 foot 9 ill use this in my game tomorrow.
happy to help, good luck in your game
@@bballcoachallen thanks i get it , some of my friends say that I should play more as a hakeem than as a shaq to reduce my underweight.
glad I made sense explaining that lol ... keep working hard!
👍Thanks Coach

So I am the tallest player in my grade and people are calling me the number one pick for whenever we play at recess but there’s one kid who can get rebounds better than me even though I’m taller do you have advice for being able to jump higher and just getting rebounds

Coach, i dont know how to play center, because I play like a guard, and i dont know how to rotate in the paint can you give me tips?
explain that to you coach and he can hopefully run some drills to help. ... if you mean rotate on defense its hard to explain in a comment but rotate down to cover 2 and then recover out to the ball if theres a kick out, and someone should rotate to cover your man
Yo ive been practicing postup moves but i never use them in games and also how can i score more as a center and also like i how can i add intesity instead of just practicing the post move with no one gaurding pls im really struggling i give in a ton of practice and im seeing results so i need ur help
@@bballcoachallen Tanks coach i really love your tips im gonna start praticing my 3 pt more i really look foward to future videos for centers!aprecciate it🙏
Anytime... I have a hook shot video planned whenever I get back on a Basketball court
Hey coach you never fail to teach me something new about basketball thanks.
Thanks for this it really helps me to play basketball as a center position 🤍
your welcome, happy I can help
i always bust my a** working to get in front of my man and position myself to easily get the ball in front op him and have a lot of moves (basically having him completely on my back) but when i do this I always end up spending a lot of time making contact in the key and by the time i get the ball i either have to rush a move or get called for 3 seconds. Any tips?
dont post up in the key, start outside
Thank you
You're welcome
well, my guy is so tired while teaching, i feel sorry
lol tired like out of breath? lol ... I have always been a heavy breather but ever since I gained 100 pounds due to a torn ACL, MCL, and Meniscus I have been worst... I am working on it
@@bballcoachallen we're on your team bud. When the weight comes off, I feel you're gonna blow up even more. Very sound advice so far, and youre a pleasure to listen to. Probably will be less of an eye sore when you've whipped yourself back into shape, we're excited for the progress pics bud!
@@leohwf ok thx but i can almost dunk
Then learn to dunk
@@leohwf yea i know im trying to standing dunk so i can back people down and dunk on them
vertical jump training and learning how to time players when they go for a shot
Can you be a short center ?
I am happy it helps
Im new to basketball im a center but im scared when someone pass me the ball i panicked so i just pass the ball to someone and i dont know where to go when were on offense im just stuck in the low post not moving
depends on the plays being ran... I would recommend asking your coach
how do i post up with a lot more taller person?
I need to do a video on that
how tall are you?
6'2
I want to learn and try those moves but my defenders keep having distance and not guarding me close so i can go arouns if i want to go for a layuo i gotta do it like shaq power and jump.Any advices?
if the defence give you space turn around jump shot or baby hook shot
Ayee Montgomery park
You from Hamilton?
I am 5ft4 in the 7th grade would i be able to play center
depends on the team to be honest... but generally a guard or forward for most teams
My coach doesn’t allow me to go anywhere other than the low block
practice the perimeter game while your not with your team
Question for all of you guys, im 6” and 288 does that mean i should play paint?
depends on who you play with and against
@@bballcoachallen oh ok. I mainly play at my church and im one of the tallest so i am gonna start watching your videos more and learning. Thanks.
Im 5'9" and i score over 6'2"
In tournaments i play 5 and up and under is the best way to get open
Im 13 years old but my weight helps me a lot (194 lbs)
I agree, up and under is a great move
same bro. I just hit my growth spurt and went from 5'7 to 5'11.5 basically 6'0. I weight the exact same as you and the same agree.
Any tips on how to rebound over taller players? I have been playing so bad in my games recently my coach is so disappointed.
lose some weight
bro im 14 and im 5'1
I'm so tall but I am not good to center Cuz I'm a street ball player so this help me a loot
thats good :)
Im a 5'4 center in 6th grade i usually go up against 5'3 - 5'6 players i usually post spin it works almost everytime if it doesnt im in a pickle
Im 5'11 and im currently 89kg and 18 yearsold and i suck at playing center cause i hessitate where to go
try working on your moves with no defenders to get confidence for how you move
I'm 5 ft 4, what am I doing here?
because you like Basketball?
Aron baynes needs to watch this😡
Lol I have mixed feelings on him. I think he’s a great player but I don’t think he is either not into playing the raptors style or he isn’t being utilized correctly ... one of the other
How tall are you
6'2
im actually an undersized center im 5'8" and I go up against 6'0" - 6'3" centers, and yeah you know the rest
learn how different angles can help you get the basket.
I’m only 6 feet I’m 14 and taller than most of my opposition I don’t if Im tall enough to be a Center but it Wht I get stuck at which don’t mind and im in the uk
im a 6 foot 8 center and im 15
im really bad at shooting.
@@bballcoachallen currently working on the shot coach ! Trynna be the goat 😌
nice
whats ur height??
6’2
I'am only 5'7 and I am a center,because In Indonesia(Asia)5'7 is tall,and the short one is 4'5 ,I am in 8th grader and I can hit the hoopboard,9 inches more vert I can dunk😁

I am 194 at 13 age how can i become so good as center
Lotts of work, become a good shooter, and really work on your handles and post moves
Hi I’m a 5,8 center in middle school, and I wonder how to push around other players.
Become stronger, and use angles, dont be pushing players around just for the sake of pushing as thats a foul these days
I am a 6’10 280 lbs 17 year old and play like shaq but no one want me because i don’t know how to shoot 🙁
Thats the issue I am seeing these days with some traditional centers ... however if you could work on shooting and foot speed (and maybe get down to 250ish pounds) I know you would be an absolute killer on the Basketball court
@@bballcoachallen thanks coach
Im 5'10 and 200 lbs my weight helps me i bully people in the paint last time there was a guy he was 6'4 but skinny and i just bullied him im only 14 too i play center and i hope i will grow more in the future
if your parents are tall your all set but If I may suggest trying to get to 170 or 180 and look into how Kyle Lowry and Fred Vanvleet play... you could use your size to bully players while driving to the rim (thats what I used to do) ... My playing weight was 200 pounds and 6'2
