The rich man, who found his identity in wealth and luxury ends up in torment after death while Lazarus, whose name means "God is my help," is carried to Abraham’s side in heaven. This parable emphasizes the reality of heaven and hell, the dangers of misplaced identity, and the eternal consequences of our choices in this life.
