*2 people, nearly a full tank of fuel and does a flat 5. Would be in the 4s with 1 person. Very impressive. Those 3.9 diff gears really wake them up, especially with a 4L6OE. It makes 1st and 2nd gear really short. Perfect street car that would chop 99% of cars off a set of traffic lights. 💯%*
@davothegreat9990 Yeah but they're a hatchback and 90% of blokes here in Aus wouldn't wanna be caught dead in one. Also they may hit 100 roughly the same but this Clubby is climbing much faster than the i30n
*The reason the oil light came on in the O-1OOKMH run is a problem from factory. When you punch it in 1st gear all of the oil rushes to the back of the sump and it can starve the oil pickup of oil. Before it was recalled and had baffle plates put in, Holden recommended to run an extra litre of oil to stop the problem. This Clubsport has either not had the recall fixed, or he hasn't checked his oil in a while. The first LS1s had a problem with burning a fair bit of oil between service intervals. Tell the owner to check his oil more often, or run an extra litre of oil before Uncle Rodney starts knocking.💯%*
Absolutely this. I know someone who had the issue in his then new WH Statesman. Towing a decent sized trailer up a long incline and bad things happened when the motor got starved of oil. Holden did not want to know about it at the time.
This was 1 car I wanted to own when I was younger. I still appreciate the look of this model and when you have those upgrades you'd be more than content with it. Very nice example!! Worth taking to meet and greets
😁 mine is here in the U.K. in the shed getting an engine refresh. Mine is the same colour, silver frost metallic. Manual box. Coulson leather ,cam ,diff, heads, throttle bodies 😊
I saved a VT LS1 Clubby just days from the wreckers back in late 2020, quick tidy up to a 3 year resto. Big cam and a high stall it’s pure fun to drive. Shame can’t add a pic here. Great vid love your work!
Another very nice Clubsport. Also try out the Wipertech blades. Ordered a pair for my partners VZ and have since ordered two more pairs for my VZ Calais and step daughters VS. They will be fitted when i get home. Thanks to you, Ross, for the discount code and also to Wipertech for a great product.
Hello. This 3 spoke wheels are very unique and cool in a way. This V8 sound never gets old for me. A very good time from 0-100 !!! I love some kind of older cars like this. Sedan with big engine and power. Best regards Chris from Germany
I’ve got a Sting Red Hackett Edition VT series 2, my absolute pride and joy. I drive like a grandma these days, but the old girl definitely has the goods when I send the message. Both my kids learnt to drive in her and both have laid claim … not sure how I work out that little conundrum in the future haha.
Such a good Video. I have a 1999 VT Clubsport R8 in my garage, its getting almost the same mods as this thing. Makes me feel even more excited seeing the potential. I'm still up in the air about the diff gear ratio i want. But this seem pretty solid :) Mine is in Blue 🥰
It goes to show that when power, traction and diff ratios are working with each other instead of against - the outcome is pretty good. 5secs - impressive for a 24 year old car. Most modern cars can’t achieve that
What a machine, I bet you're appreciative you had the privilege of driving this beast. The question is, do you prefer the VT front end over the VX? Thanks Ross ❤
Very nice HSV VT CLUBSPORT! Well done to the owner. Fog lights are not genuine. They are very hard to find new. I was lucky to find a new set for my HSV, cost $1000.
@pauledwards6446 I have seen exact same fog lights for sale for $2500! $1000 is lucky compared to that price. Non genuine fog lights are much cheaper but look crap.
Would'nt ignore that oil light. Had a race car go bang not long after that same behavior. Oil pumps clap out at about 200k km and the cam bearings have a habit of walking in them (exposing the oil port and dropping pressure), particulaly after you cam them and get more horse power out of older engines. Would recomend looking at getting the pump done and checking the cam bearings before its too late, ask me how i know...
I miss my old vt gts #069, didn’t have the ls tho, she had a 355 stroker. Struggled to sell it and I wish i didn’t. Wonder if it’s still on the road these days.
Blast From The Past. Holden Fan Boyz loved it and Ford Fans hated it. Reason 5.0 Windsor no match for LS1 and 5.6 Windsor not enough produced. So many VT SS and Clubsport were sold but don't see much on the roads now dayz.
Yes I agree a HSV VT CLUBSPORT with an Australian made 5 litre engine and 5 speed manual is way better. Not as fast but sound much better with a good exhaust system.
Nah you guys dont know what youre talking about. The old 5L VT verison were cast Iron blocks. Heavy as fuck. Slow. The LS1 was all Alloy, lighter, faster, better. Period.
I don’t believe that car is the R8 version of the model either Ross. In the VT not all Clubsport’s were R8s you had to pay extra for the Coulson seats and the bigger brakes/wheels.
The Ls1 in VT form was NOT a bulletproof engine Ross. The pistons would regularly do ellipticals in the bores. Piston slap destroyed a lot of them hence why you don’t see them as often. I dare say it left a bad taste and not as many people gravitated towards the VT clubby.
Not true at all. The LS1 in the SS from 99 onwards they had some problems. The HSV version is bullet proof. They only made 270 odd of these with the LS1. I have a black VT R8 with the LS1, 1 of 70 in manual. Had it ten years. No issues whatsoever. Awesome cars.
I owned a VT Senator Series 2 build number 0001. It was cammed & high-stalled with all the other bits to go with it. Bought it when I was 21 and had it for 13 years until some low life deadbeat decided to steal it 5 years ago. Sad times.

Very healthy for a 25 year old car eh
@@BrickLayingStud changing the narrative. Must be getting desperate.🤣
5 seconds was solid, big horses are cool but without traction its nothing, well balanced setup going on here!
Agreed!👍
Wow impressive 0-100 time, and that sweet noise on top of it. The tri spoke wheels really give the retro vibe and makes the car stand out.
Couldn't agree more! Very healthy for the age
