  • Welcome to part 44 in Pastor David Guzik's in-depth study of the book of Genesis, teaching here through chapter 40. The narrative of Genesis has shifted to Joseph, and recounts his tragic but opportune situation within Pharaoh's prison.
Throughout this series, Pastor David expounds and examines a full chapter of scripture with you - verse by verse, point by point. Applying these timeless lessons to today's world, he concludes by highlighting some of the many ways that this chapter parallels the personage and mission of Christ Jesus.

Thanks Pastor for this amazing story. Sometimes I have doubt about my future life and I asked God for a specific sign and and He revealed it through dream and it took away my doubt. I know it is not fulfilled yet, but at least I have trusted His promises and He will fulfil it on His own time. Thanks for inspiring message. By the way, I always listen to your commentary. It is very useful for my personal spiritual growth and I also share them with others! Merry Christmas and God bless your ministry!!

The evil one always finds our means towards his ends, GOD, however looks put for our ends thru his means for our benefit with him in mind. 😊

Amen...I find it truly fascinating how God prophecies about Jesus throughout the Bible..I was reading this today and noticed how both of the prisoners dreams were prophecies about Jesus...one was exalted back to his position as Jesus was exalted back to God's right hand...the other was hung on a tree as our Lord was crucified for our sins...Jesus is the vibe ...His blood was poured out as the grape juice was squeezed out.... the other was hung on a tree as our Lord Jesus was crucified for our sins and we eat from The Bread of Life...and ofcourse in the Three Days all this takes place.

If Potiphar thought Joseph was innocent and 'only' put him in prison, why in v 19, "he burned with anger"?

Another way that Jesus and Joseph compared to each other is this:
Recall that Jesus said to the Pharisees that they would one day see Him in all His glory and that they would marvel at Him. Potiphar’s wife … one day saw Joseph released from prison and elevated to second in command … as did all his brothers - and everyone else. Many saw Joseph and marveled at his journey and final destination.

This passage pointed to Jesus, in that GOD selected JOSEPH,upon the thoughts speech and actions, in his daily life of temptation, for GOD needed Joseph for HIS SON CRISTO,JESUS,YESHUA MY MESSIAS.

Joseph wasn't the nicest brother, when 'parading' in his coloured coat, but God was with him. God favoured him. Also he was physically attractive etc. Why does God choose some to favour people and not others? The choices often appear random and unrelated to their relationship with God.
