  • This is the first part of my Me 262 "Schwalbe" video build. With any luck I might be able to drag this out to three parts, but we'll have to see.
    This is a really good kit of a fantastic aeroplane. I have added some resin extras but in all honesty it doesn't really need them. If you're thinking of getting one of these kits, a straight out of the box build would be fine.
    Hobby Boss have released a few variants of the Swallow, so should be plenty of choice available.
    Save the playlist "Hobby Boss Me262" to keep up to speed with the build as well as clicking the bell..

    love a 262, probably my favourtie aircraft of all time. in regards to internal colours.. AFAIK from the nose section back they should be bare metal. The nose sections were supplied separate and due to materials used were primed and painted in RLM02 or sometimes in a light grey. Thats why you see photos of unpainted 262s where the nose area looks different to the rest. Also "Black 4" of Jg7 that had a replacement nose that was just primer.

      Travis Thompson At last - someone else who knows what they’re talking about regarding 262s. A rare sight indeed!.

      Thanks Travis, I’m not pretending to know much about 262’s at all, so the more info I can get the better. My issue is actually keeping this info on my head!! More of the same mate pls..

    RLM 66 is Black grey or "SchwartzGrau" in German... in some lights it has a grey/ blue hue and on other light it can have a deep greenish cast.... I think your version works just fine.

    What did it come with in the box, And what was aftermarket?

    • @TimsScaleModelling
      @TimsScaleModelling  3 года назад +1

      Hi Henry... aftermarket is :
      Cockpit
      Wheels
      Radio gear
      Decals
      Quite a bit if you consider not really any of it is needed 🙂🤓

    RLM 66 means black-gray and not black-blue.
    which color goes well is from Vallejo No. 71055

    Great start, Tim....it looks like a really good kit which will not cause too many, if any, issues. The resin cockpit is an impressive detail. Will be hanging out for Ep 2....maybe 3???

    • @TimsScaleModelling
      @TimsScaleModelling  3 года назад

      Maybe 3... depends on how I get on, I don’t want the vids too long obvs but also want to get as much in there as possible.
      Ta Robbo, much appreciated

    Great to see this. I have a couple in my stash - the 1a and a U1. They have a good reputation for fit and they seem great value for a 1/48 kit. Looking forward to the build. They are large when finished! Cheers.

      I’ve had the kit knocking about for years David, HobbyBoss seems to get German stuff right, whereas their British stuff can be wonky. I don’t why it’s taken me soo long to build it..

    Cheers Tim got the A 1 version, really impressed by the moulding and detail, are you going to have the radio hatch open because I don’t know what way it goes on? Does it open from the bottom or the top?

    • @TimsScaleModelling
      @TimsScaleModelling  3 года назад

      Ha! Me neither!! I don’t actually know, there is literally nothing to see, it might not be worth it as I want to keep the lines of the 262... tat goes for the gun bay too..

    This kit fits so badly, you have to use tons of putty.

  • @InternationalBritishModeler

    Great video Tim and super details in that kit, and the extras. With that lovely looking radio set, I'd be chopping out a window in the starboard side fuselage to make it visible. You must have got yourself a cool mancave layout with the new overhead camera....I need to get one myself, but wouldn't have a clue what type of video camera and tripod to achieve it with? Cheers for now :)

    • @TimsScaleModelling
      @TimsScaleModelling  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Marty.. overhead is just my iPhone on a desk clamp phone holder thingy, nothing exotic. Yeah mancave/bench is coming on still got a bit to do tho..
      Speak soon 👍👍

      Oh cool, that’s the kind of camera set up I need to fit my limited budget.
      Some phones limit the length of video recording time to like 2 minutes, I use an iPhone, but have no clue how long it will record for? 🤪

    • @TimsScaleModelling
      @TimsScaleModelling  3 года назад +1

      As long as you enough memory it’ll will keep recording. I only record a few minutes at a time anyway Mart, lots of editing. I have toyed with the idea of investing into a decent camera but I like the overhead rather than over-the-shoulder view.
