      At 1st I loved (and still do) conjurer, the incarnate becomes very powerful very early. But right now I'm doing a Lonewolf play through with a solo rogue using scoundrel & warfare with Necro & Poly on gear, Execute talent, Elf (Sebille) Flesh sacrifice & Adrenaline for a constant supply of AP.

      It's really neat how you can be any class you can think of, save a few maybe.
      My favorites I've made were a Jedi/sith and a druid.
      The jedi used self buffs like haste and peace of mind(?) It's been awhile since I've played. But later in levels he would gain lightning magic haha and he had high..telepathy? (The force) and used a ice or fire staff or sword.
      I was surprised the build worked and mostly thematically made sense. I suppose it's just a battle mage with limitations aha but I like to make head canon classes

      @@senorbongo4975 you can use it that way but it's not the way i play the class. I play it a bit more bruiser esque a bit of defense while still dealing a lot of damage. Now most of the methamorph skills are more buff related but they aren't always debuffs. The turn into chicken for example only works on specific enemies so i personally never end up using it and ended swapping it out for a different ability pretty early on i however do reccomend tentacle and bull horns as they both deal quite the smack if you build your stats right

    I massively fucked up and picked inquisitor as my starting class, I'm literally 8 hours in and i JUST realized that i'm supposed to be a meele focused character (he's literally rocking a crossbow, ranger spells and healing spells). But my character has gotten ridiculously powerful, being able to heal himself nearly totally with one attack and still have enough points to spam heal spells on the rest of my party. This game is so ridiculously flexible.

    I have a few criticisms for the video.
    First and most of all, it's a barely more detailed than what the game will tell you as you look at the classes anyway. Only the Wiki, which is incredibly underdeveloped, has less general detail as a source of information.
    Second, you miss out on some very important details for newer players: the rogue, for example, starts with Adrenaline, and the Huntsman classes have the option of First Aid. I won't spoil it, but being an Elf is particularly relevant to those points. In general it would be useful to mention some good race/ class combinations; Dwarve's get Petrifying Touch and so is good for melee classes (or, by preference, ranged classes who want some self-peel) as well as a sneak bonus, and are particularly good as Rogue's. Human's have Rallying Cry and pare well with front-line classes such as Fighter's, Knights, Inquisitors, or Battlemages. Elve's get bonus damage and +1 AP at the cost of Constitution, and so have an affinity for either backline classes (such as enchanters or wizards) who shouldn't feel the reduced constitution, or high-burst damage classes that can kill enemies with the extra damage before they return the favour. Lizard's have fire and poison resistance, making them tankier than normal frontliners, an innate AoE firespell which has synergy with a lot of classes, not to mention they can dig mounds for free. In fact, I would say that Lizard's are probably the best overall beginner race.
    Third, you only touch on the weapons used once when you speak about fighters. You don't mention, for instance, that although Metamorph's display a spear, that both spears and ranged weapons (bows and crossbows) scale based on finesse - i.e. you can pick up a bow on a Metamorph and probably be better off if you're just doing as plain a class as you can; metamorphs lack the combat utility of Warfare anyway so missing out on the Huntsman's bow and crossbow specific abilities isn't much of a relative concern. If you do pick up Warfare (or Huntsman), you're no longer using a preset class and thus you're responsible for creating a functional class on your own. In fact, using spears as a primary weapon is probably only viable with a custom class.

      That's why on my first playhtough I had sebille play as a ranged char while my main fane was a rogue that I usually had set to elf just in case I needed a bit more damage and 1 ap to change a fight. Sebille honestly destroyed everything from high ground and with executioner she would usually get another kill per turn. I had Lohse as my support mage and ifan as the frontline tank.
      In the end though my fane was probably my weakest char(I legit kept his shapeshifter mask on the whole time) while sebille and lohse had the dps ( blood storm and that other source skill, grasp of the dead or something is stupidly op when combined).

    My first one was an enchanter, but shortly after I learned that it doesn't matter at all. You can just adjust your class at character creation. I.e. make a witch with the same abilities as a fighter, basically making it a fighter. All that matters is what skills and attributes you choose, not the class.

    • @Schueppiful

    If you're new and want easy mode, use a lot of ranged spellcasters and learn (I haven't played in a while so I forget the exact names) a way to escape to higher ground (I think it's called tactical retreat) and teleport. This way you can immediately get a height advantage, teleport any enemy who gets near, and rain down spells after you've clustered enemies together. Magic works better, as I tried the same tactic with all archers, but enemies are much more resilient against physical damage. I've beaten this game 4 or 5 times and I think it's the best of its kind (and yes I've played BG3 but I got lost and bored after wandering into mushroom people underground).

    Pro tip. Dont witch or battle mage. Hybrid builds are useless so save your skin by investing in either all magic or all physical. The armor system is weird and will punish you as it makes getting to their actual vitality that much harder. Thats not to say dont go one or the other at all. Just as an individual class dont go hybrid. As a team of 4 i found 2 physical 2 magical to be ideal

    • @somethinghippos
      @somethinghippos 7 лет назад +3

      you can make hybrid melee/casters as their are spells that are based on physical armor but it certainly isn't ideal, witch is actually pretty solid as a lot of necromancy skills affect physical armor and not magical armor when deciding special effects as well as damage so it actually works pretty well with things like backstab

    • @ZDehuman1ze
      @ZDehuman1ze 7 лет назад

      They are great for cc alone and there are multiple ways to cc with them in a way that ignores armor, the huntsman skill increases all damage from above so it should work well for magic damage too should you need it since you can switch your spells around whenever you want to

    • @somethinghippos
      @somethinghippos 7 лет назад

      huntsman is really good too with elemental arrow heads and the talent that makes you do elemental damage can actually completely strip both of the enemies defenses with things like barrage crits

    If you're a necromancer, know damage doesn't scale with the Necromancer attribute but rather the Warfare attribute since all necromantic damage is physical.
    If you're undead and unsure what else to pair with a physical damage build, invest in Geomancy, as poison is great for healing yourself.
    As an undead and a living, you are losing out greatly by not taking the poison barrel in the Maritime on the tutorial deck, as you can fill empty potions bottles with poison essentially endlessly. This can heal the undead and provide extra damage for physical builds.

    Just picking the premade classes is so bad very often. Almost none of them have the most effective early game skill combinations and they tend to spread stats out a little when in reality focusing everything on your main attribute at the start is the most effective option most of the time.
    Picking one of the story characters and customizing their stats and skills is what I usually do. I mean, you get bonus quest lines for the trade off of not being able to change your tags, also you have unique skills which, like Fanes timewarp, can be stupidly op.
    In short, telling people that picking the premade classes is safer is just wrong. As long as you take the time to actually read through all you can in the character creation, you are better of with making your own character build.
    The only exception would be if you are a total newbie in this sort of game.
    I have hubdreds of hours in this game and never played below the tactitian difficulty, which is the highest difficulty in the game. I know there is honor mode, which I played too, but it is the sane difficulty as tactitian combined with permadeath should your party get wiped.
    So people, this video is only useful for people who never player an RPG in their life. You don‘t need to start of on a high difficulty like me, but trust me, the premade classes are shit. If you think you understand a bit of RPG builds, make your own, it will be better.
