Vaness is together with Phyllis Curtin, Suzanne Danco and maybe Frittoli the only ones here with enough fullbodied voices to sing this tricky aria/role. It’s not a pure lyric role for small voices. It requires more and really solid LOWER register for her two big arias.
Suzanne Danco was the only one using the chest voice properly. We should have heard her in the 'Non vi renda audace ancor' passage where Fiordiligi has a chest register cantabile against high string staccati.
