(Project Solinteraction) Exploring Tangible Interactions with Radar Sensing, IMWUT2018
Proc. ACM Interact. Mob. Wearable Ubiquitous Technol., Vol. 2, No. 4, Article 200. Publication date: December 2018 dl.acm.org/cit...
Based on RadarCat • RadarCat: Radar Catego...
In this paper, we explore two research questions with radar as a platform for sensing tangible interaction with the counting, ordering, identifcation of objects and tracking the orientation, movement and distance of these objects. We detail the design space and practical use-cases for such interaction which allows us to identify a series of design patterns, beyond static interaction, which are continuous and dynamic. With a focus on planar objects, we report on a series of studies which demonstrate the suitability of this approach. This exploration is grounded in both a characterization of the radar sensing and our rigorous experiments which show that such sensing is accurate with minimal training.

This and in combination with Leap Motion. Oh the possibilities. I can see some amazing things being used with this - so many...! #FUTURE

    *Useful technology for many applications.*
If it can recognize materials, then it can be used inside recycling and trash sorting plants.
The rate of recycling materials would be better, if the sensors can recognize materials faster and better.

Real World Application for a Musical Instrument Controller for MIDI! Someone needs to look at this like we already have with the Moog theremin (Think 50s and 60s creepy SciFi sound or a 3D LinnStrument

Hey! Great video, where can I get my hands on one of those Soli radars? I have some ideas I'd like to try out with that.

One great money making use for Google is to invade in people's privacy, track their private habits at home, then sell to advertisers.

I'm curious if it could detect different gasses. Like you had it detecting if there was air. Can it detect if it is instead in hydrogen or helium or something?

You probably can't do that with the frequencies used in radar, is my guess.

Does Project Solinteraction supplement Project Soli's radar with another piece of hardware? Or is it just a software application of the existing hardware?
I apologize if this was explained already and I just missed it!

So long privacy. To be included in Google home, now Google will know everything you do at home and sell info to advertisers. Everything!

Don't bother showing how cool your tech is on Ubuntu or Linux for that matter if you're not willing to share it or support the community behind it.
