    Thanks for the trick on playing the 1 note arp. I just got mine a couple weeks ago and this was a bit disappointing at first. Glad to see a way to do it.

    I can hear you a bit better in this video but your still a bit quiet. Thanks for making these videos.

    Fantastic! Would still love to swap patches with you somehow! I’ve got a few that are startling! (in a good way) again, great job, especially with the sequencer tips!👍

      Thanks for your comments. I'm not sure how to swap patches. Calibration data that is unique to each OB8 is transferred via the cassette interface when loading patch data. The safe way is to use the patch diagrams at the back of the owner's manual. That would be feasible if the number of patches was 8 or less. I've done this with other synths: JP6, MKS-80, SH-101, Pro-One. With the OB-8, you have to make sure you rotate all the dials throughout their entire range, then set at the proper location, verifying by selecting the patch number for each dial. This as you know is because the value doesn't jump to the actual position as soon as the dial is moved.

      I know that drawing out the patches would probably be a lot of work for you and I understand that it might not be easy to share the data. If you are so inclined in the future to put together a patchbook I would gladly pay top dollar for it! I feel I have learned loads from both of your videos, and I suspect you know a lot more, lot more!

    Thank you so much for this video and your other much longer one. I've never understood the Page 2 functions in 12 years of owning an OB8 and now I do! I will be forever grateful. There is still one thing which confuses me though about the LFO phase shift and I am not sure I can replicate it on my machine. I ask because I know I need my synth serviced and I was wondering whether the fact I can't replicate this behaviour indicates there is a problem with the voice calibration of my machine. (I know voice 3 is wrongly calibrated on my machine because it self-oscillates when the others don't). At ruclips.net/video/FCb_uto-c_s/видео.html you mention that the phase shift modulates voices 1-4 relative to voices 5-8, not OSC1 relative to OSC2. I am assuming you have the pan set centrally for every voice to get this effect. However when I do this on my machine the stereo panning is not present like it is on your Pink Floyd patch. To confirm you have OSC1,2 set to Pulse, both on full amplitude, PW modulation enabled with a sawtooth LFO, and the MOD INVERT and 180 degree shift set on Page 2. Where do you set the Pulse Width for the oscillators? Should I be able to get this effect if I say only enable voices 1 and 5? I'd really love to see precisely how you made the patch!

      I don't recall exactly how I made that patch, but here are a few ideas: I have the pan pots set so that voice 1 is hard left and each successive voice gradually moves toward the center then hard right at voice 8. When voices 1-4 are in phase--modulated using either the filter or amplitude, you hear the sound in the left to mid stereo field only, and vice versa for voices 5-8. Sometimes I go into page 2 and turn off voices 2-7, so that the effect is hard left and hard right. PW modulation isn't necessary. Filter modulation gives the most dramatic result. I don't think I used MOD INVERT. If you still need help, let me know and I'll try recreating it to clarify the sound design.

    If you could only make albums with the OB8 or the Xpander which one would you choose? I’m on the fence on if it should spend 6500 on an Xpander or 9000 on an ob8 lol

      It depends on what other gear you have. If you have a good keyboard controller and a sequencer, then the Xpander can create a greater range of sounds since it has so many more synth parameters.

    Thanks for your helping videos.In my case I can only transpose an arpeggio with chord latch from the first 5 keys on the OB8.How can i expand this zone?

    • @wedream2
      @wedream2  3 года назад +1

      I sent you a private message, but I'll repeat "setting the transpose limit" here. While an arpeggio is latched and able to be transposed, press and hold "CHORD" then press any key on the keyboard, and release "CHORD." That's it!
