Pat McAfee notices fake Andy Reid in the crowd, and as he scans the crowd he braces his chair as he notices Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura. In a social context, physically bracing oneself reveals anticipation for a significant, potentially stressful interaction. It signals defensiveness and readiness, and it tends to occur when one is feeling uncertain about what the other party may do. Physically bracing against something solid provides a feeling of stability and control, which is important in a situation where one is beginning to feel emotionally unsettled.
Bert says “Can we come on the set? Yeah we are” without waiting for a response, and then storms the set without getting approval. We then hear a few of the co-hosts go “oh…okay” essentially trying to indirectly say that although they didn’t agree to this, they don’t really have a way to shut it down now without making a big scene. By doing this, Bert has forced an agreement between him and the people on the set. This is an awful thing to do and we are going to see the effects of this ripple throughout the entire interaction , but what’s the psychology behind why should you avoid the forced agreement at all costs? Not considering the autonomy of another before you enter their space implies that you don’t hold them to the level of respect that you hold yourself to. Making an action like this only serves to create bad will within the dynamic and we see this annoyance and bad will begin to ripple through the entire interaction. When someone perceives a threat to their freedom to make choices, they attempt to restore their autonomy by refusing to capitulate.

Promoting an energy drink to kids is like promoting cigarettes to kids, so this was justified. C4 sucks.
Tom could’ve apologized to CJ after Pat at the end of the interaction. For messing with the promotion of his product, to promote his own. It got CJ’s attention as the video mentioned, but essentially, Toms apology to Pat was for “ruining”/crashing his show and perhaps the uncomfortable dance/position he had in between the two parties. Bc he distanced himself verbally and no verbally from it, and Bert. However, that’s not an apology for HIS actions, which WERE promoting the product (during/over CJ’s). Which is why CJ shortly lost interest in his apology and the possibility of a connection/handshake. I think Tom handled it quite well until the very end. He should have looked at CJ and told him “sorry” to. Outwardly sounding like the same apology he just made to Pat, But actually apologizing for partly disrespecting, and ruining his promotion. Which he did have fault in, which is probably why he didn’t do it.

How about how awkward Tom greets CJ? Instead of a normal handshake he bends down awkwardly does the greeting like he’s not an old white guy interrupting a young pro athlete.
Not to mention when Bert walks in and walks behind the guy and puts his hand on his shoulder, that can be seen as intrusive, controlling, or possibly aggressive. It's like saying "I own you."

You should do one on Wayne Brady asserting his dominance over Dave Chappelle, literally taking over his show and tricking him into doing horrible things... Only to have Dave carried off by his cooorporate chronies...
Seems like Bert just brings Tom down in every interaction I see them in together. Get outta there Tom, Bert has been spiralling for a long time and it's so hard to watch.

I gotta call out one glaring component: the fact that CJ realizes these are 2, out of shape, drunk, middle-aged white guys and thus pose no real physical threat if it gets really out of hand. That probably contributed to him feeling confident in the situation.
I think the threat of physical violence underlies everything, and it’s just basically survival. In social interactions, it’s not the focal point, but it definitely influences them, especially between men.
Tom is a real let down for this, Bert is just sad… drunken mess
