The reveal that Agatha was just a little girl was brilliant. The movie had Norman in her place multiple times throughout the movie as if he was her. We honestly never realize just how similar their situations are until we see she was just a little girl. Then, everything just kind of clicks
There’s things I hadn’t noticed before that I’m noticing now, like how Neil said “if you were bigger and more stupid, you’d be a bully too” to Norman, but over time Norman learns that what makes a bully is someone hating and fearing what they don’t understand; how Norman’s whole power is about communication and understanding in a world that doesn’t communicate very well and sometimes outright refuses to understand; how, in Aggie’s grief and rage, she ended up destroying the tree she’d loved coming to with her mother in her life, the tree she was buried under, but Norman puts her to rest at a perfect recreation of that tree when it was still beautiful.
ParaNorman is one of my all time favorite stop motion films, Next to Coraline. But apart from those two movies, I'm not that big a fan of stop motion stuff. I mean I don't hate it, But I can certainly appreciate it because like all animation stop motion is an art.
This is one of my favorite animated movies ever, i know it by heart lol I'm so glad you caught that Agatha and Norman are related, most people I've watched completely skip over that bit (kinda understandable, since no one really pays much attention to the uncles last name). Also, you said that since this was modern times Norman wouldnt be exectued like her, but the town was literally accusing him of being on the zombie's side and almost burned him alive, so same thing basically tbh. I love the theme of the movie of people being changed by fear and mindlessly being violent to whoever they're scared of; it's what got the zombies cursed (being so scared of a little girl they killed her), it's what made Norman's dad like that (scared of being judged and not understanding Norman), it's what almost got Norman killed (the town turning into a violent mob), and it's also what changed Agatha from a little girl to a vengeful spirit. Fear can become anger really fast. Idk, it's a nice message to not let fear change you, told with a very charming style and story, and i fell in love with it since i first saw it in theaters as a kid
Bro just started the video and already have a rec for you: Coraline! Yet another claymation movie and honestly one of my favourites, fits right into the october/halloween vibe!
Amazing reaction! And also you should look into reacting to "The Nightmare Before Christmas", it has Halloween and Christmas vibes so you watch it around Halloween and Christmas!
You should watch “The boxtrolls” since we’ve been watching so many movies. It’s a really entertaining one from what I remember, with silly characters and a good plot. Also, I think it has the same sorta style as this one, animation wise.
Mitch was the first openly gay character in a mainstream aimated film, so that's cool
This movie is very fun. I feel so bad for the witch girl, at least she found peace in the end. Seeing Ghosts would be so freaky
Technically speaking she’s not a witch since she was born with her power.
Mitch is considered the first openly gay animated character.
*from the United States
*in an all-ages family movie
:P
