Love the El Cortez! Visit ever year for Super Bowl weekend.
Do people from Omaha Nebraska still get the Jackie Gaughan discount?
WE LOVE YOU EL CORTEZ!!!
Genius move El Cortez
Thanx for showing our Pompsie some love💖💖
Shout out to El Cortez for being youtuber friendly and letting players record the fun at their venue. I'll be visiting next time I'm in Vegas solely because of this video review.
I'm going to El Cortez to stay 3 days next week solely based on the pomps vid. Never ever seen any other reason to go to date. Big ups pomps and Greta.
It's a friggin gem
Curious to see if your average person gets the same level of customer service.
Dude the Cortez is a great place to stay actually. You’ll love it
Please update the post as you enjoyed el cortez
@@jaysantos536 wait.. how do you know her age? And why does it seem you're jealous of his getting comped?
I have gambled at the El cortez. You do win there and the staff is so friendly and POLITE! (Cortez)
Pompsie. I think your videos and hotel reviews stand out so much more in comparison to the hotel Las Vegas based RUclipsrs/hotel reviewers. Keep up the great work man.
Outstanding Video and information,
Personal content right.
I played poker with Jackie Gaughan a couple of times at the El Cortez. His nurse would bring him downstairs in the early afternoon (he lived in the penthouse) and let him play for a couple hours. He had a rack of chips (comped by the casino of course) and would basically play until he lost all his chips, and then it was back upstairs for a nap or whatever. It was so cool to play with a las vegas legend. Last time I played him, he died about a month later. RIP Jackie.
@@jaysantos536 Cool story! I had a similar experience playing craps with Matthew Perry at the MGM about 15 years ago or so. I had the dice for almost an hour. He won THOUSANDS. I won a couple hundred. But it was fun being a hot-shot in front of a celebrity lol!
Nice story...
I knew Jackie Helluva guy so was his son, I think he still owns South Point
When people start of stories with oh, I can top that story, blah blah blah, their credibility is instantly shot with me, and even if their story is factual and actually involves Princess Di or Mother f'n Theresa, their just automatically tuned out...I'd bet good $$$ that over half of people are they same. 🤷
@@michaelz6870 Rigtht on I thought you were taliking about me. LOL YEah that guy is an idiot and I DID KNOW AMARILLO SLIM> I played him many times. and won
I have family members that only stay at the El Cortez when they visit Las Vegas. They love it there and the history of the hotel.
My aunt and uncle never stay anywhere else. It’s their spot and that’s how I know about it.
What an experience you had. You're a lucky guy. Heartening the you appreciated it. Jackie Gaughan was a founding father of Vegas, a giant. His son, Michael, opened the Barbary Cost in late 70s. That turned into Bill's Gamblig Hall and, after a makeover, into The Cromwell. Michael Gaughan now owns/runs the South Point Casino. Great casino with good odds, a 24/7 sports book, legendary $1.25 hot dog cart, no pretentious night club ...solid.
Did not know this thanks for the information.
No one was better editing skills and the story you tell via video is top notch.
I stayed there about 15 years ago way before renovation and I loved that old Vegas feel
Best hotel in Las Vegas 👍
Wife and I moved here midpandemic and your channel has taught us a lot and introduced the "real Vegas". Not easy to make friends when you're older and the glamor of the strip wears out. But you cut the tape and frills and bring Vegas down to reality, especially when you live here.
Not a big slot fan unless it's those old one arm bandits, thank you for this one.
The music in your videos is amazing. Super chill.
Those short and sweet vids are nice, but I do appreciate the longer vids too, thanks Pompsie, for showing that this place is something special.
Pompsie, your instrumentals are always fire bro. Love the content bro
Nice blackjack session! I have noticed that the El Cortez is very RUclips streamer friendly. A smart move by El Cortez Marketing/PR team to get free marketing to their target audience. Thou it's an older property, with their new renovations, it looks more modern than some properties on the strip. Fantastic VLOG Pompsie!
I love cosmo but for real I would go to el Cortez good vibes
Now I want to stay there lol. This dudes videos is prolly the best marketing now a days. Legit.
Pompsie & Greta this is great! Love the way you edit & and how much fun the two of you were having! The El Cortez looks sooo nice. Thank you for the history on the El Cortez.
I watch Pompsie videos to gear up for my Vegas visits all the time👌🏾
I don't miss the dirty fingers, but damn, the adrenalin rush of hearing those real, physical dollar tokens drop into the slot tray was matched only by the beaming pride in taking that heavy, full bucket to the Cashier's cage.
@@jaysantos536 Yep. I remember back in the day when machines paid in real silver dollars (I was too young to gamble). Now, a single 90% silver Peace Dollar will set you back $35!!!
The sound of dollar tokens splashing into that metal tray is one of the greatest sounds of all.
Bill validators ruined the “fun”’of slots. Now they are video games. More profitable for the joints, but boring af. Vegas sucks now.
@@jaysantos536 Crazy Jay! That machine was my dad's favorite! We had a timeshare in Lake Tahoe & always went to Virginia City just to play that machine. They took the machine out about 12 years ago. The last time we went my dad put about $900 in the machine & walked out with 240 Silver dollars. I remember you could win 1, 3, 5 or 10 coins at any given time. They had to refill the machine while he was playing lol. This brought back so many great memories! R.I.P. Pops!
@@jaysantos536 Yeah, in the 70's I remember my Dad saying "keep your eyes out for these," referring to pre-1964 90% silver coins which we collected.
I love seeing young people enjoy the past and respect it.
Thanks !!
Were going to book our rooms there !!!
Woo hoo, someone took our advice and stayed at El Cortez. Kissy kat and Gamblin Granny are soo proud. We love this place. The patron margarita for 5$ at the bar is awesome.😎
Played poker a couple of times with Jackie back in the day. Very cool guy, definitely a Vegas legend. His son still owns casinos in town, and his grandson just retired from NASCAR. I always loved the laid back feeling of the El Cortez.
His son Michael also owns all the slots at the airport as well.
Holy mackerel that’s cool info..
@@EricPetersen2922 wow.. that’s so badass.. that’s the advantage of being from the original founding fathers of Las Vegas.
i like that they dont act all covert and stop or discourage filming
I would guess they got special permission to film at the table. I can't imagine they allow that normally.
Hi it's me again and I'm still watching your videos one after another I think you helped my dizziness and headache go away I've been so happy traveling with you I'm mostly a shut-in cuz I'm 88 so been like I've been all over Vegas and going to restaurants and you just show me a good time thank you for the video and good luck and God bless you and Greta🤩🤩🤩🤩
Getting the VIP treatment now. You’ve earned it. Videos are always on point and entertaining. I can’t wait till I get to Vegas again. I’m afraid by then you’ll be too famous lol
You and Gretta are just great to watch.New subscriber and look forward to watching! Thank you for the informative video on El Cortez!
Went to an after-party at the Jackie Gaughan suite A few years ago.. one of the coolest room/party I've ever been to
bro your editing is so high quality..and the custom music ...fire
Great job dude - Hi Gretta ! Great job in the casino. You gave us a private tour, and you didn't film people in the casino - I think that's important in Sin City lol
You're killing it, and I'm super proud of you. I know the kind of work hours it takes to create your content. A ton of editing hours, that's what
I can’t watch any other Vegas vlogger! No one else compares...#🐐status
I'm impressed by the work you must put into these videos. The content above was very informative and entertaining. Your technical skills and production value are outstanding. I especially loved the Jackie Gaughan backstory and suite. He was a Las Vegas legend.
Love the smell of the El Cortez!! The light fixtures throughout the casino and bathrooms are beautiful!!!
I thought I was the only one who likes that smell.
My son was a dealer at Flamingo for a period of time. He and his friends, also dealers from throughout Vegas casinos, used to go here as their spot to game and relax.
True to the vlog, the hospitality was great, the gaming fantastic and a must do for any Vegas visitor!
Great video, as always!
Coolest Vegas room I have ever seen.
I love your music selection Pom. Very nostalgic vibes. Great vlog
Hey im in this video! In the first 10 seconds checking into the hotel. I remember telling my husband you looked like someone I watch on YT and I was right!
That music track hit hard af! perfect!
Bruhh the editing/ tracks on all his vids are unmatched. GENIOUS. it's almost like a chill hop vibe and damn I hate using that word lol
@pompsie can we get an mp3 of this audio fr!
Nice content. Particularly impressed by your still life photography in the standard room. Thank you.

Hi
The El Cortez' media and marketing team are doing things right. I wouldn't even know of the El Cortez if it wasn't for Pompsie and all the youtube gamblers they let film. Can't wait to check it out in person this spring!
Awesome video! Thank you for reviews at so many different properties. Not just the ones on the strip.
We love the El Cortez. We are nobody special and they treat us like family as well. We stayed in one of their specialty suites (I don't remember what it was called). We usually visit the casino on every trip to Vegas, it's one of my favorite places to play.
Hello Maria how are you doing today and how's the weather over there?
You’re editing and use of music is superb brotha. Love the America 🇺🇸land of opportunity spot.. tho will take some work to get back to that era, I have faith👍
man, this place is def up my alley. When i roll through im absolutely staying here. thanks dude
@Hello Jason Pryde, How are you doing?

Gretta sleeping on everything, LOL. I remember those slots, when they took coins. Great Vlog brother. Very cool they allowed you to film the gambling. That big room was nice!!! Like the video phone. Haha. Epic!!
Hey Pompsie great job showcasing El Cortez Hotel & Casino, I know every time I have visited Las Vegas over the past 25 years I always made a stop at El Cortez, so now when I visit I will appreciate the Hotel and Casino so much more because of your vlog! Great job 👏. Joanna from Canada 🇨🇦 oh btw where was Greta when you were filming your room tour? Lol
Place is a hidden gem. Can’t wait to get back to Vegas and go there! Love the videos!
Thank you for vlogging my favorite vegas hotel/casino. The vibe at El Cortez is the absolute best. Your videos rock 🤘
Plays at the High Limit tables for 10 bucks a hand and buys in for $100. Gotta love the ElCo!
@@jaysantos536 Shame. He didnt start out that way. Its what was interesting about this channel.
@@jaysantos536 saw him running through Aria
Very enjoyable video to watch! I like the way you take your time with showing everything. I find most videos cut so quickly and frequently that it takes away from the feel. You have a great eye for appreciating your surroundings, and finding the interesting details. Thank you for sharing 👍✌🏼🍻
love the video!! I just stayed at the pavillion of el cortez last week for 3 days!! This hotel is so real! Totally recommend it!
I may consider staying here because of you.
Your channel is top notch & you got the iT factor. Keep up the good energy Pompsie & positive vibes!!!!
My first trip to El Cortez was 1972, I love that hotel. I love gambling there as well. On one trip I actually got to meet Jackie Gaughan as he was in the casino. Back in the day they had hundreds of the old coin slots. One coin one pull. They were so fun. It was awesome when you had to haul several buckets of coins to the cashier to cash in. $500 in nickels is a hell of a lot of nickels. Security would lend you a hand and take them to the cashier with you,. Always a good place. My last visit was this February 2021. Also Bugsy Siegel , Meyer Lansky, Gus Greenbaum and Moe Sedway bought the hotel in 1945. The Mob owned the El Cortez until 1946. Jackie Gaughan also played poker in the poker room almost every day until he died. It is so history filled I love it. This is why i love Downtown. The strip is so plastic corporate phoniness and downtown is Nitty, Gritty, and very real, Just like the Vegas of old! Great Video Pompsie.
Yep. That's why I party and gamble off the strip. I will have a grossly overpriced margarita or rum drink on the strip and go thru Caesars Palace and the Bellagio but that's about it. And I meet a lot of fun locals. It takes years of going to Vegas to finally catch on that the real party is OFF the strip!
The Birds of War intro music is incredible
Anddddddd a DEGEN was BORN! You got the gambling bug. This was an awesome Vlog. I'm gonna stay here soon. This place is everything
True but he earned it this time
(Get it...this time😉)
Pompsie -- I just came across your channel yesterday, watched a bunch of your videos and SUBSCRIBED. Your editing is great, you're a fine host -- and my favorite -- your MUSIC CHOICES are excellent. Your videos SLAP. Great job. Keep up the good work!
Great vid! You always have the best tunes ... Love that first remix from Always Sunny!
Pompsie I have been watching you since day one, first comment. Love all your videos but I think this one was my favorite! Vegas is my jam! From Denver and we pop into Vegas every two months or so, definitely going to visit the El Cortez on our next trip, I love finding new places to visit when I'm out there. Keep up the great work, I love how true your videos are and Greta is spectacular!! Vegas is such a small world feel like I might just see you walking down the street LOL!!
Sand here
Hi Stacy
Nice vid! El Cortez is super cute and cozy looking.
Pompsie.
Jackie hooked me up in 1981.
A very gracious knowledgeable man.
Great review brother.
Good job...
One of the most informative of all your videos. Very special, indeed!
Very nicely put together so much history thank you Pompsi
good video, feels like your back to being the good old Pompsie...genuine nice guy.
Shot and edited beautifully. Fell on this randomly. Keep up the great work.
Love the El Cortez! Nice people and a fun old-school vibe!
This is your best Vlog ever! Very professional cinematography and very entertaining, I really enjoyed watching this. Keep up the good work!
One of your best videos yet! 👌
Wow! What a great vlog! Siegel's is great, the casino has a great old school downtown vibe- but now I wanna stay here! Love it!
I LOVE the El Cortez! I was just there a few weeks ago and I mentioned to Adam Wiesberg that you make awesome videos and they should invite you for a stay. It's SO cool to see this a few weeks later!! Thanks for another great video and for the peek inside the Jackie Gaughan Suite!
@Hello Bret Boyle, How are you doing?
Bro, your video and editing skills are superior!!! I enjoy watching you guys! Thanks Pompsie and Gretta.
My kind of place to stay!! Awesome video Pompsie & Greta
Hi Pompsie..., One of your ( BEST ) videos and very informative.. * Excellent video.., watched the video, not once.., but three times' ! ! I like the "El Cortez", too.. Your friend always.., (Michael) Sean O'Brien in historic Uptown Butte, Montana.. :)
Pompsie i love the feel of all your videos. your super talented
@14:00 to 15:00 the part where you talk about how they treat you is a HUGE deal for me. Personally I like to gamble, have a good time, enjoy the scenery. I usually frequent the places that give the best energy, and treat me how you describe this place treated you. I also can see in your eyes when you say it, that it's genuine, and not like a paid gimmick. Keep going with these videos! I will definitely check this place out next trip to Vegas, especially to try the vintage coin slot machines!! Always wanted to try those.
Great video! I like your editing style, you showcased the place well.

Hi Alicia
Loved this video! It was really different, compared to similar topics out there on RUclips. Really enjoyed it and can’t wait for my stay at the El Cortez in November!
El Cortez is one of the last casinos where they value their guests and make hospitality a number one priority. It may be old school but it is the best service ever provided from yester-year without having the nonsense of treating guests like a business transaction as they do on the strip. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to stay there in a suite.
Pompsie. Rocks! Next time I’m in Vegas I want to meet you.. The best blogger...
Pretty damn cool Pompsie. The history of that suite and hotel is what amazed me. Good job!!!
I've watch this video 100 times just because I love the El Cortez and the music and presentation is amazing Pompsi
Sick bro. Another stellar vlog, and hey, it’s GRETA!
Oh man, I was just researching El Cortez as a place to stay Downtown and your video popped up! I think it's a sign. It really sounds like an awesome place. Definitely going to check it out! Nice win on Blackjack! Ok so about this vlog. Pompsie, my man, you just keep getting better and better. Content wise, this was so good. Tons of information about the place and wow that Jackie G suite was like a step back in time to the 80s! Technically, your lighting, exposure, editing, focus, audio, and music is all on point! It's getting really good. Very impressed. Thanks and keep up the great work!
El Cortez is so much fun! Congrats on the blackjack win. Enjoyed seeing more of the El too
Excellent video Pompsie.
I absolutely love watching your videos, the details you go out of you way to show about the casinos, facts, etc. Also Greta is a Cherry on top of an already perfect channel! 👍🏽Thank you for your time spent creating content.
Love your videos. You are emerging as one of the BEST videographers! I've been to Vegas many times over the years. This Opened up a brand new hotel option in Las Vegas.
I L❤️VE EL CORTEZ, great drinks, gambling and staff! I will be there in two days! Thanks for giving the EL CORETEZ props!
I was in that room 1415 this past weekend . Awsome. Room. Your reviews are point on . The whole hotel is great was my first time
@Hi alan nanney, How are you doing?
I really enjoyed this video. I am not a fan of downtown Vegas, but I like that this place has some history to it, and not a megaresort.
That suite is awesome! Keeping the old school Vegas vibe is what modern Vegas is missing! Bravo and congratulations!
El Cortez looks like a great place to stay while in Las Vegas. It's a nice well edited video, I'm sure the El Cortez took care of you for the video review.
Our friend is a widow and he spends thanksgiving there and luvs it. He’s never lonely or sad. These people are wonderful. 👍👍👍
Pompsie never stayed at the Ep Cortez but when I go to the Raiders Game in September I may stay a night there. One of the best vedeos I have seen from Vegas RUclipsrs. This piece may be one of your finest. I shared this will all of my colleagues and Family Members. Thank You
So cool! I adore your videos. The music and cuts are superb.
@Hello Peter McClung, How are you doing?
This joint is sooo haunted I went in for an interview and I was shown how it was back in the day when the El Cortez was the cats meow what a trip.Above all a very classy joint
I was there back in July, I have that same black T-shirt. Great place to stay & play
Great video! I really liked your Blackjack montage. I'm used to Slotlady's camera angle, lol. I've killed some time at the slots in there in the past, but I definitely have to check it out again when I'm in town later this week.
My Family and I Love the El Cortez! It was my Dad's favorite Hotel and Casino! Unfortunately my Dad ended up passing away November of 2020 due to Covid-19. He loved eating at Siegel's 1941, and also loved them gambling odds over there too! Thank you Pompsie for showing this video, it gave me a Good and Happy memory of my Dad. 😭😃👍👍🎰💰💵
So sorry to hear about your dad. Hope you can find inner peace
When you share the good, and politely share the less than perfect, it is appreciated. We love that you share info on the room, services, staff, the neighborhood, and respectfully the history of Vegas!
Okay, that was beyond clever. Having Greta sleeping everywhere. I would give you 100 likes if I could.
lol i never realized she was so tiny till i saw her under the sink
Was there many years ago, wasn't the cleanest place and neighborhood was a little sketchy. Great to see what they've done for the place and how the surroundings seemed improved , No pool? Resort fees? Just asking
This is one of my favorite videos of yours so far! Thank you for the providing all the history about this place💕 love this
