I graduated from Imperial College 9 years ago with a First in Computing and have been a senior software engineer and CTO. I thought it would be fun to try a few of these papers as GCSE computing did not exist for me. Most of OCR's content is decent but the mark schemes are completely incorrect sometimes. e.g. a character set stores ___ of the characters that the computer can represent. OCR says ALL. SOME is the wrong answer. So where would I find an emoji in the ASCII character set? In the context of networking, the way 'layers' 'protocols' are described is completely divorced from how they are implemented and documented in industry and academia. I'm sure with enough practice, you can learn how OCR perceives how computers work. Look beyond the spec if you want to have a career in computing.
3 bits can represent - 2^3 - 8 different colours, the image only has 3 colours white, black and gray so 2 bits -> 2^2 would be sufficient. The previous slide explains it
can you please tell me if I'm correct; does this answer "Why virtual memory may be needed in a computer system" Virtual memory enables data that is in RAM and not currently being used to be transferred to the hard disk. This frees up room in RAM for other programs and data. When the data on the hard disk is needed again, any other unused data is transferred to the hard disk before the original data is transferred back to RAM.
Ye and also just say how all fragmented data can be stored on virtual memory (HDD) in order to increase the access times of the programs (using the defragmented data)

for 22:56 the last 4 marker question why is it 2^2 and not 2^3 ?
