Great news! Glowforge has now updated their sell sheet. Hmmm…We need to look into cutting Delrin… what is that? It is still on the approved list. Stay tuned!
According to Glowforge support, I was told it can cut 5/32 maple plywood with the Aura machine, when I asked for the settings they didn't have it. Do you know what the settings are? I need that size for my laser-cut wood earrings. Thank you for all the wonderful information you guys provide
Thank you so much! The best way to figure it out is to do a test file cut. You will be able to find the best settings. Here is a video for how to create your own if you don’t have the paid version of Glowforge. ruclips.net/video/qdy-k5jm_S0/видео.htmlsi=8SQCPWS81I_fkBSa Please let us know if you need more info than this. We will do our best to help! Have a fantastic day!
Glad to have found you guys. I'm up in the air whether or not I will keep mine. I brought mine to cut wood designs svg files to sell but now finding out it only cuts thru 1/4 inch wood is kinda thin.
That makes sense. It is such a difficult decision. We were excited about the 1/4” because it was looking like it could only do 1/16”. I wonder if the 12” size of the Aura would be more of a limitation than the thickness? Although we would you could make them in pieces. Let us know if there is anything we can test to hep you on your journey! 😃
Thanks again for all your information on the Aura! I want it sooooo badly and didn’t know if I should spend the money. This last video of yours has me thinking about making the purchase again.
Thanks for all the videos. IMO that was poor entry by GF, but glad they owned it. I will give it a year to work out the kinks and updates b4 purchasing.
Thank you for your comment. When did you buy your Aura? 😃 Originally the information wasn’t there, so we bought it to research for others. Have a super day!
We would love to test that! Diodes can lightly engrave (lightly etch), but the Aura only has 6 watts of power. If it can make a mark, it isn't going to give a stunning etch like a fiber laser would though.
Hello, Yes, it should cut it just fine. You will want to make sure the glue holding the chipboard together is laser safe. Thank you for your question! Have a wonderful day!
Hi, You may need to play with the settings, but it absolutely should work on Proofgrade orange. We would start with the eco thin orange setting. Please keep us posted.🤞🏼 If it is orange eco thin, the settings should be resolved if not flip it over. You may want to watch the Acrylic Cutting Hack video also. 😃
Thank you. I will definitely watch the hack video. It isn't Eco thin. When I ordered off the Glowforge site, the medium was listed under items for Aura. Thanks again for responding.@@Flemingoriginals007
Thank you for commenting. Although the software is complete, the settings for the Aura are not, so the net impact is the same. We’re wondering if they rushed it to come out on the same day as the new Cricut Venture. We do like what it can do, but it is frustrating that it isn't plug-and-play like it is supposed to be for many Proofgrade materials. Have a great day!
blue laser isnt gonna cut blue cause its blue.. if you want to cut thicker darker colors and wood slow down the speed and do more passes. gotta remember its only a 5w diode laser.. not as powerful as other lasers out there
Thank you. We have been practicing and playing with the settings for different woods trying to find one between not cutting it through and turning it into charcoal. 😃 Where did you locate the information on the color of the laser? That is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to let us know! Have a fantastic day.
We did find out important information and untangled a lot of conflicting information. We truly hope our frustrations will be helpful. Thank you so much! 😃
As soon as you open the box, the Aura is nonreturnable! Of course, they don't tell you that until you open the box. They are a SCAM Company!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!
Hi, Thank you for the question. That is still a pressed board or a type of MDF, so we would not use that. It would have the same problems as Proofgrade Draftboard. The Aura would probably cut it just fine, but it would degrade the optics and ruin the machine over time. We hope that helps! Have a terrific day! 😃
Hello, thank you for taking the time to comment. Do you mean that we tried the Proofgrade materials with the QR code, and it didn't work? Or something else? Thank you again.

Just found you. Subscribed. Will watch the earlier videos.
Thank you and welcome! We appreciate it. 😃
Thanks again for all your information on the Aura! I want it sooooo badly and didn’t know if I should spend the money. This last video of yours has me thinking about making the purchase again.
We totally understand that! Let us know if you have anything laser safe we can try out for you! 😃
Hello,
I looked for your Glowforge Aura review part 1 & 2. Find 3&4, but no 1&2.
Please advise.
Lawrence.

Thanks for all the videos. IMO that was poor entry by GF, but glad they owned it. I will give it a year to work out the kinks and updates b4 purchasing.
Yes, they also just released that they have added more material settings. We think you are wise! Have a fantastic weekend!
Was shocked to see glow forge material prices at craft store. $20 for ONE sheet of 12"x12"!
Yes, we had sticker shock too.
Research people. I knew what it can and cannot cut before I bought it. It’s not a saw. If you need to cut thicker pieces use a scroll or miter saw
Thank you for your comment. When did you buy your Aura? 😃 Originally the information wasn’t there, so we bought it to research for others. Have a super day!
Thanks for this video, btw. I almost returned my aura without even opening it.
We hope you can use it for great projects! Thank you for your comment.😃
(None GF question, but what type of cabinet is your Aura sitting on?)
Hi, it is IKEA’s ALEX
Drawer unit on casters, white, 26 3/8”x26". Have a fantastic day!
Thanks. Did it cut gold acrylic
We haven’t tried gold yet. Is it solid or translucent?
So wait... it can engrave glass, but not clear acrylic?
Glow Forge Aura: “So wait, it can engrave glass, but not clear acrylic?”
Can you engrave stainless steel?
We would love to test that! Diodes can lightly engrave (lightly etch), but the Aura only has 6 watts of power. If it can make a mark, it isn't going to give a stunning etch like a fiber laser would though.
Will it cut chipboard? The kind used for scrapbook embellishments?
Hello, Yes, it should cut it just fine. You will want to make sure the glue holding the chipboard together is laser safe. Thank you for your question! Have a wonderful day!
It can cut cardstock
Have you tested the leather 😢
Not yet. Have you? Your crying emoji has me concerned. 🫢
Are you saying that I can flip the proofgrade orange over and it will work
Hi, You may need to play with the settings, but it absolutely should work on Proofgrade orange. We would start with the eco thin orange setting. Please keep us posted.🤞🏼

Why the heck are they selling a 1,000+ product that they have not finished the software for? Way over priced.
Thank you for commenting. Although the software is complete, the settings for the Aura are not, so the net impact is the same. We’re wondering if they rushed it to come out on the same day as the new Cricut Venture.

I'm sorry that you had to go through this. Another reason to return it.
We did find out important information and untangled a lot of conflicting information. We truly hope our frustrations will be helpful. Thank you so much! 😃
PS We went through what we learned in part 4.
As soon as you open the box, the Aura is nonreturnable! Of course, they don't tell you that until you open the box. They are a SCAM Company!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!
What about unisub hardboard? It is 1/4 thick also

@@Flemingoriginals007 thank you for responding
@@beasaiz8743 It is our pleasure. Thank you!
Can this cut 10 mil Mylar ?
We have been trying to find the answer. We are going to order some and try.
Diode will never cut blue due to the laser wave length.
Thank you.
But u tried it and it didn’t work
Hello, thank you for taking the time to comment. Do you mean that we tried the Proofgrade materials with the QR code, and it didn't work? Or something else? Thank you again.
lol what’s with all the awkward pauses? Is this lady ok? Looks like she’s about to cry or something.
Class action law suit coming.
