If you are selected for jury duty, and you get to the part where they're weeding prospective jurors out, they'll ask if you have any connection to anyone involved in the trial, including any witnesses, organizations, professionals, police or first responders that are being called to testify. If you do, you're immediately excused. So how is a judge that got appointed by the defendant allowed to oversee this case?
